Yup kids were watching it and they freaked the F out over this. Parent's were so pissed Hasbro literally ordered custom episodes from Japan to revive Optimus in the show.
No, don't give them any credit. They thought they were refreshing a toy line. They didn't actually know they had an iconic character that made this toyline a top shelf franchise. That said, killing Optimus may have solidified him as that, but it was purely an accident, they didn't know what they had or the impact of the series on their audience.
Prime’s spark chamber was damaged which is why he couldn’t be repaired. His “soul “ leaked out basically. Later in the 3rd season of gen 1 the producers (due to backlash) figured out how to bring him back. Ultra Magnus’s spark chamber wasn’t damaged so he could be repaired right away
Yeah. Previously in the cartoon they had Optimus _almost_ die when he got badly damaged, but in a different episode he was completely taken apart, each limb and his head was separated into different pieces and he was put back together none the worse for wear.
That whole initial conversation between Megatron and Unicron is some of my favor dialogue in all cinema. Orson Welles even phoning it in on his deathbed delivered an iconic performance. "You exaggerate." Unicron was already through with Megatron's bull shit.
The reason for Spike saying 'shit' after the explosion is so in the US they could have a 'PG' rating in theatres, so they can show it for longer periods during the day.
28:15 Wrong - Optimus was waiting for Megatron to arm himself so he could destroy him without "killing an unarmed combatant" which is part of Optimus's code of honor - something the Bay movies gets wrong time and again. It also was not Hot Rod's fault because he didn't understand the situation (like Arcee mentioned) because if he had, then he would've stopped, pointed his blasters at Megatron, and the two of them would have killed Megatron at the same time.
Did you not hear the "No matter the cost" line? Optimus wasn't playing games. Not to mention he picked up his blaster before he got close enough to be able to see what Megatron was trying to do.
Optimus couldn't see the gun from his angle and Megatron knew it. Thats why he started begging just to keep Optimus from firing long enough for him to get the gun. and yeah honestly Hot Rod was pretty much at fault here. He was told to stay out of it and if he hadn't jumped in and been used as a shield Optimus could have fired and finished Megatron. Even if Megatron got the gun he would have needed to bring it up to aim at Optimus and that would have given Optimus enough time to shoot first since he already had his blaster pointed at Megatron.
@@GeekLodestars I think thats the general consensus. I enjoyed Snake Eyes and it put me onto the actor Andrew Koji. He went on to do the series Warrior.
