I bought this cheap VW Transporter T5 a few months ago for £3000 and it has over 250k miles on it, we have some big plans for this van including a media vehicle, a motorbike transporter, a tow vehicle AND a camper van! So we have a long way to go as we have some big shoes to fill.. let's get started!

you need to turn those pieces of timber 90 degrees as it will be a hell of a lot stronger and load bearing, timber is so weak and flexible laid flat! Steel is terribly heavy and expensive, I have a sofa bed i just remove when taking bikes in mine, But by far the best option is the stiches & steel bed that is on pulleys and drops down from the ceiling of the van!

Buy a couple of static caravan single beds - they have sprung timber laths fitted to a perimeter metal frame and some have folding legs. they will be ideal for your application with a pair of memory foam mattresses.

Lee, when you do the hinge, make is so there is room for the mattress when it's folded up

wrap or paint the bottom half red with grey decals and keep the front. Or flip grey/red decals. Would be kinda original and tie in with the bumper.

I don't disagree with using copper grease, it's not the worst idea but you can end up with galvanic corrosion IF there are mismatch metals. I would recommend Wurths brake paste, it has a higher temperature coefficient and as it's made using aluminium paste, it cannot corrode or cause problems.

Just use a 12mm or 18mm sheet of ply. But make sure you have some gap gaps cut in it.

Could paint lower part of bumper, keep the grey bonnet and get stickers to match the grey.

Hi mate about your rear suspension banging . The rear spring adjusters go on top, of the rear spring, not the bottom. That’s why it’s banging mate

This is why I like VW. The brake pad senser has an actual connecter whereas on a BMW in my case an e46 there is no connecter its just hard wired.

I just made a U bed for my t4. Fortunately i have access to a bed factory😅 im no framer so its taken me a weekend just to do to frame. But an upholsterer by trade so the easy work is yet to come this weekend
