Idk if u like this idea or not but u know all the tiling u have for the floors but I think it would be such a cool and cute idea to put that in the sides of or insides of the desk it would make it so unique and fit ur style!! Edit: or maybe even for a future project!
Absolutely good for her, why on earth not! 😂❤️ Awesome upcycle ♻️ such a cute and well done desk. Would love to see more of these!!!! It’s made me inspired to get up cycling again..
I NEED THIS TO BE A SERIES! that desk literally fits so perfectly where you had it. I think you should keep it since it has a cool personal backstory of being your first “free flip”!
Hi Mia! My mom and I refinish furniture all the time! Some tips for future projects- always sand with the grain (no circles) and a tiny can of stain is PLENTY for multiple projects and you can always darken up a stain with multiple coats 😃
Mia is literally an inspiration, I saved up enough money to renovate my WHOLE room I didn’t buy anything new i got creative! I even renewed the DOORS! I also paainted over the walls because the color was fading into a ugly yellowish color! THANK YOU :)
Can we all just take a minute to appreciate how much Mia has grown and expanded her youtube platform! I just love how you’re consistently trying new fun things to keep it interesting.
I do a lot diy, upcycling & makeover things and WITHOUT all the tools she used this in total was over 150€ or dollar. I used German prices but I don't think it's cheaper there. I added all the stuff she bought but doesn't used in the end. It's not cheap at all especially when you don't have this tools. But in the end you have an unique furniture. And when you do such projects often you have all the things at home.
I love this! FB marketplace is everything! One detail you can add to modernize it and keep with the white. Where the detailing is on the wood of the three grooves you could tape off and paint white to make the drawers stand out more and create separation.
The “natural” that you chose the first time is actually no color. It is the color of the wood. Also sand with the grain of the wood; any sanding across the grain will stand out once it’s stained.
I have a few tips as i refinish stuff all the time. To make the drawer slides, slide better get some cheap dollar store stick candles and rub them on the tracks also you'll want a sealer/finish for the wood itself to really give it that finished look I would go with a semi matte as glossy usually is too much or you could just use furniture wax. Few other things when sanding, painting and staining you want to go with the grain of the wood to better coat it. Hope this is useful! The finished product looked great
to tie in the turquoise, you should put turquoise patterned wallpaper inside the bottom of the drawers as a little accent to bring all the colors together. like this so she sees it please!
One tip about staining that I just learned! You mentioned after staining the top that you could see so much grain, to the point that it seemed like you didn't love how varied the finish was. If you use wood conditioner (a clear product that you wipe on right before staining) it fills some of the grain and produces a really smooth finish. Basically it helps the stain absorb more evenly across the wood so that it doesn't look so antiqued and rustic. I learned this while staining wood trim this week. Wood grain is beautiful but sometimes when stained a darker color the variance can almost be distracting and sometimes it isn't the look you want. The wood conditioner can usually be found with the stain in the hardware store. It is cheap and I can't believe what a difference it makes! You should try it just to see how it works so that you can get the finish you hope for in future videos!
I try to explain to my friends what Mias channel is all about...like diy home projects, diy craft projects, challenges, try on hauls, makeup routines, prank videos... the list goes on LOL but basically i watch her because of her down to self nature and is 110% authentic in what she does, whatever she does! She's like a ray of sunshine you didn't know you needed in your day. You can tell she absolutely loves what she does, by far my favourite RU-vidr!
@@deeb8733 mark Ferris and Megan margot are both super down to earth genuine RU-vidrs! I used to watch a lot but I'm down to mia and those ones because they are all the most genuine people I have come across.
Got a tip for you Mia! When you have wood on wood drawers with no runners, just rub a little solid hand soap where the wood rubs together and they'll run smoothly 🙂 Love the desk!
Hey Mia..I think painting the grooves on the bottom of the drawers white might make them look even better and bring attention to that detail. I love this white and wood combo 😁
helpful hint! using stain stripper first (outside) really helps and when sanding always start with the lowest number when youre sanding off stain or paint then go higher until you reach the texture youre looking for
The desk turned out soooooo good!!!! Also I was cracking up when you started to sand with the sand paper on backwards! I was like “I’m definitely no expert seeing as I have never used a sander but I don’t think that’s how it goes!” 😂😂
Hey Mia! I loved this concept of this video. Another idea for this series could be to pick up free items for an entire bedroom set and be able to use the products you purchase across multiple items to be able to get more for your money. The desk looks awesome, love the knobs!
You did a beautiful job, Mia! The drawer pulls really made the finished product look so elevated. It looks great with the pink chair and against the natural wood feature wall.
"Hey everyone today we are doing a very exciting video, in this video we are going to...." LIVES IN MY HEAD RENT FREE AND IM NOT EVEN MAD ABOUT IT. Thank you for bringing us all joy during these hard times!!!
These are seriously my favorite RU-vid videos, out of them all! So definitely keep on doing them! I love the instruction you give and the details you notice!
Whenever we are staining we put our used cloths in a glass jar and seal it shut with the lid. This enables you to use the cloths more than once. Then we throw them out in the outside garbage when done. To get your drawers sliding better put wax on the bottom edges of the drawers.
I would love🔆 to see a “I organized my storage room/shed” video. I’m pretty sure it would look like a store🛍, complete with departments like 🎨 paint pillows and crafting 🌈 ps I really love the leather pull knobs. (But I do hope the’re vegan lol) 🐮
Loved it!!!!!! I think it would be cool to include the price it cost to makeover the items just to give an estimate for others that might want to do the same!😁💚
Hi Mia, I am loving your makeover shows. This one made me a little nostalgic....the desk is from the late 60's, early 70's. Mine was white, it is where I did all my homework. Actually it was part of my bedroom furniture. It had a headboard, footboard and a dresser with a large mirror. Thank you for the memories.
Love it! Would love to see the chair makeover. I got some chairs and stools from my grandparents that I want to reupholster.. and I'd like to get inspired by you! 😊
I love the desk and the stain literally is perfect, but I do wish she went with different handles. Just my opinion though, I like things looking modern and neutral. 🥰🙃😁
Yeah, maybe just some simple gold handles to tie in to the legs would have been really nice! The wood and the teal don't go super well, IMHO. Still an amazing revamp, though!
so I just saw the merch and I noticed that this BEAUTIFUL desk is in the background of the merch pictures :) I love it, waiting for more episodes of this inspiring series!!
Mia, whatever you do, it's always good!! The same with whatever you are wearing!!! That is because you are beautiful on the in-&outside, like the rest of your family!!!!! So do not think bad about yourselve sweetie, you deserve al good things. All your viewers/followers love you so much!!! Big hugs, Pinkie
To avoid over sanding next time, I highly recommend just starting with the stripper if you ever want to refinish wood! Stain soaks in and finish makes it almost impossible to not over sand
Love this! If you do this as a series I would love to know the overall price of all the paint and stuff you bought to see the money you've saved from getting a second hand thing xx
Mia you should get into house flipping... and make a website to refurbish people’s furniture! I have my parents old dresser in the spare bedroom, bought a sander and now I am here watching for confidence and inspiration.. can’t wait to see how this turns out!!!
At 18mins.. looking good but I was thinking you should have just clear stained the wood after sanding .. but it still looks good!! If you can do it, I can do it!!!
Sand with the grain of the wood and also look into painting with chalk paint. You don’t have to sand prior to using chalk paint. It saves a lot of time and effort and looks great. Look forward to this series.
That turned out so cute! I'm living my dreams of refinishing furniture in this video and learning why I never do it at the same time! Lol Side note: I'd be intrigued to see the leather pulls on it...I think it would up the chic-factor.
You did an excellent job. I like that you didn't have a clear way to go, but changed your mind here and there and ended up with something any of us would buy! 💕💕
My favorite thing about the end result is the singular leg holding up the base because I think it looks fantastic. I also like the color contrast! Looks Amazing!!!
I wanted nightstands with pull out trays and I found the exact style I wanted for $50 but they were painted royal blue and orange for the university of Florida 😓 I bought them and did paint stripper, sanding, and repainting... the paint stripper is EXTREME I can’t believe you did it inside! 😷
It’s gorgeous, you’ve done so well with that. Great work. If we all did this imagine how little waste we’d have. This furniture was built to last, and I love that it’s not ended up in a landfill, and even if you don’t want to keep it, I’m sure someone would absolutely love it.
Hi Mia a little tip for you on inserting drawers into cabinets which are abit awkward to go in. Rub a candle along the runners it will go in easily! Love the recycled stuff! 👍
Oh man, I love videos about flipping furniture! It makes me want to go out any do it myself :) Someone might have mentioned it, but when you are sanding and putting the stain on it, it's better to go with the grain so it's more even and clean!!
Mia, there is now way this series won’t be loved and adored. I LOVE IT ALREADY and it has been 2 minutes, nothing much actually happened but the intro !! 💕
This really was an awesome transformation! I was skeptical of the choice of stain and the white paint, but it actually all turned our really really good! Can you put how much it cost to fix it up? I would love to see more videos like this. And would like to see you flip some pieces also. Good job!
I literally do this for a living and let me just say YES every piece of furniture I flip I wanna keep lol. Y’all did so good though that looks awesome!
