@@midnightworf i definitely think from a technical perspective they’re better but a of them just feel like intercessor with different gun. Because they almost never changed the power pack or the helmet. The devastators look different than tac.
8:26: 3rd edition, actually - this kit's sprue has been part of the 3rd ed starter box released in 1998. 8:41: This version is different, the shoulder pads with molecular bonding studs are new, missile trooper has a different backpack, different rebreather on the Flamer guy, different head, chest and banner on the Sargeant, his arms are new as well and the chunky combi-Bolter (I think?) is also new.
That’s why I said it’s an update to the kit because all the kids are interchangeable all the parts work interchangeably and all they did was update and add to the kit modifying it. But definitely see where I could have reworded that better and thanks for the feedback I did not know about the 3rd ed stuff
what i did with my own primaris is shaved off the neck guard , cut the weird knee guard lips .grinded off the extra material from the tights ., replaced the backpack and helmet . and if you want you can replace the bolter too . they looked insanely better. honestly they should've just removed the extra things from primaris and they would be fine .
@@JunoMeHistory I actually thought about that beforehand and it definitely will work if you want a bigger bolter but then that’s an additional kit you have to buy which is something I really found annoying trying to do this all GW official is the Kit Bash one guy you have to pull almost 3 kits or buy a kit that doesn’t come with 10 guys. I did a video previously the stern Ghada super easy to just convert into first born because they come with firstborn bits but at the same time there’s only five of them
The different helmets, chestplate variety, backpack variety and leg variety is why firstborn are better than primaris aside from scale/pose Infact the devastators and assault marines only shared a couple not even all but a couple chestplates and helmets with the tactical kit (shoulders are the same obviously). Meanwhile hellblasters, infernus marines, intercessors and the desolation squad are exact copies, reposed with different weapons and if you are lucky a different backpack Both variety of assault intercessors have the deceny to add some extra armour to their left arm and on the legs and the jumo guys have some boosters on the leg. Between 5 different squads we got in the essentials the same guy over and over again, characterless and flavourless. The imperium and especially space marines should never look perfectly uniform
I go back and forth with new marines a lot. I think the initial role out of Primaris was not very good, but I've liked them more in each successive edition and the newest ones for 10th are actually among some of my favorite models pound-for-pound. The old metal Veteran Space Marines will always be the best 40k models ever in my opinion though.
@@LemanRussVanquisher I definitely agree with some of the more specialty style kits, such as the new stern guard. I like how they have different arm pieces. I think I talked about it in the video, but I’m annoyed how all the Aquilas are the same and wish there would be more variety and that’s the real issue with the new kits unless it’s a specialty kit they all look exactly the same even tactical Marines the basic of the first line had some variety to them. All of the new miniatures in the space. Main line have identical looking armor.
is it a hot take when I think that the intercessor marines look exactly as plain as the firstborn tactical marines? like we are getting chapter specific stuff now and most is as good as the old stuff.
@@tonarsilverwolf6485 I think it’s a fair criticism to say they look pretty close to plane however, I think the difference is is that there is much more variety in armor than there is four the new stuff. In tac you get a mix of mark 6,7 and 8 with the new stuff is all mark 10. So it leaves them looking all the same.
it ain't a hot take, its a fact. People who hate primaris bring up examples of flashy firstborns and go "look this guy is an standard battle brother!!", just for it to turn out to be like a lieutenant. Soyhammer fans forgot that primaris are the exact same as firstborns just with an in-lore buff (the organs, height increase and increased strenght) & in a different art style which i prefer unless we're talking horus heresy. Not to mention standard firstborns (anyone who isn't kitbashed or is a high rank) have the same customization as primaris (as far as i've seen)
@@tonarsilverwolf6485 another thing is that there is a lot of subtle variety within the first born line devastates had different backpacks and helmets. Compared to Help blaster that have almost the exact same helmet and backpack to the standard intercessor. Or the new flamers they have the same armor and looks like you took a primary and gave him a different weapon instead of having custom pieces that would be unique to each unit.
What I always wanted was "True scale" mk7 marines. Thats what primaris SHOULD have been, better proportioned mk7 marines without the "awesome" primaris lore. But GW wants us to buy all our armies again and again. True scale mk7 is what Im trying to create now which mostly means 3d printing. Ill buy some models that work (or look cool) but mostly Im making/printing my own. FU GW
@@stingray4567 so you don’t have to only 3rd print to make them but I don’t really think people who would are to make this kind of army want to pay GW 2x as much to only use half the units they buy
@@TheRealTheAlphaOmegaProject True. I guess it depends how fussy over the details + what look you're going for (you CAN just stick a mk7 helment on a primaris body and call it good). Ive also seen some good "true scalle" conversions that use 3d printed torses/legs to get the height and proportions. I wouldnt be surpised if we get true scale mk7 one day from GW. We're in a weird situation where mk6 (and older marks) are alredy being updated with these better proportions. I suspect GW wants to squash all things mk7 for now though so it doesnt compete with primaris sales and then in a few years we may see an updated mk7 release (much like the recent mk6 one).
I think you needlessly complicated the “I wanted a firstborn army.” Simple. Miniatures from 3rd edition onward for GW sake. Or using third party bits. Miniatures using Mk2-Mk8 armor. Boom there.

I haven’t been looking at the new Warhammer reveals because I’m just so disenfranchised with 10th edition, but as soon as I saw what they were doing to the old death company kit and replacing it with these new ones I’m just flabbergasted how much of a downgrade it is
@@TheRealTheAlphaOmegaProject problem is that they want to sell primaris and tell us we can only play primaris . but they keep releasing boring designs .primaris armor sucks , overdesigned, too many shapes and the tacticool element dosent work . firstborn armor was simple and consistent . there is too mamy shapes . firstborn armor was easy to procces for the eye . all the iconic things have simple base desing . decoration pop more on the simple armor . that is why primaris armor wont work , its overdesigned . no matter how you decorate it the base design is bad . feels more Gundam than 40K. and the dreadnoughts...... they feel like robots . no gothic element , looks like your average exo-walking suit in scifi movie . i hate how every primaris unit looks like they from a mecha anime . what i did with my primaris is i shaved off the knee guard lips , neck guard , the extra detail from the tights , replaced the helmet and backpack and they looked lightyears better without the unnecessary extra parts .
the problem with the scale is marines were meant to be the same size as it is based on d&d scaling eg, small, human, large, monster. true scale space marines are an idiocy, as the tanks are in the same scaling a rino could not fit 10 marines, a new rino cannot fit 10 primaris marines, a up scaling the tanks to true scale is just as stupid. dont get me wrong the new scale does make the marines look better. but GW did not do it for that, they did it to try and stop the 2nd hard market and 3rd parties and force new army purchase. so now i just buy 2nd hand and 3d print F'GW ;)
@@meph3676 thanks I honestly did not know about true scaling history. But I think it’s pretty clear especially with GW’s actions for things like a Warhammer plus that it wasn’t out of some noble nature of warning to make the marines look better. It was created to make it easier to paint for new people. Enforce older players to buy a new army.
