First comment! Nice work Swapnil, Excellent presentation of transient thermal analysis. Btw: How do you change the "D" value on an already defined spc_temp? Thanks!
Thanks Emmanuel :) For that you can use the card edit option. Set the entity selector to 'Loads' and select that spc. Then you can edit the card and change D value.
Good health, please tell me how to open RTH files. I’m interested in how the temperature is distributed over the cross section regardless of time, namely over the cross section, that is, the coordinate points of the surface of the part
Hi Adib, The ambient node can be placed anywhere in the model. It's location does not affect the analysis. The only reason why I created it near the pipe is because it was easy to extract the center node.
Hi Onkar, TEMPD defines reference temperature in a thermal analysis. It is used to specify the temperature units (usually Kelvin or degC). As Hypermesh is a unit neutral evnironment, TEMPD provides a base point for the temperature range.
Hi Ashish, A detailed tutorial about transient structural analysis has already been posted. You can find it in the 'Optistruct Tutorials' playlist of this channel.
Hi Shashwat, 1 is the scale factor for SPCD. It signifies how much temperature will be applied at the location. If you enter it as 0, you will not get any temperature rise and if you enter it more than 1, you will get a greater temperature rise than shown in this tutorial. I hope this clears your doubt!
if i use temp of 2000 degrees in spc_temp and spcd_temp as d=1, And in case of spc_ambient as 25 degrees and spcd_ambient as 1. i got my results with error and in my problem i need 2000 degrees temp and 25 degrees ambient temp shouldbe taken. help with this
Dear Swapnil! One question please:- You clicked conv_cont while performing Engine Block coupled thermal stress analysis tutorial but not this time! Can you explain what is conv_cont while linking convection interface to ambient temp. please?
Hi Ali, It is just a part of creating Hypermesh comments for a specific card (This helps in solver deck export operations). It does not affect the analysis results in any way. You can simply skip that step and complete any thermal analysis setup! I hope this information helps :)
Can you please tell me how to apply thermal gradient loads for shell elements. Like different temperatures for top fiber and bottom fiber of shell element
Hi Anil, Shell elements have constant parameters in thickness direction. Hence it is not possible to apply different temperature on sides of the same shell element. To do this, please use brick (hexa-penta) elements.
Hi sir, without linking 3 or more materials with each other for a component in one bulk entry data and keeping each material in one subcase, can we perform a static or thermal or any other analysis and displaying the results for each case(i.e for each material) and by keeping the load collectors for all materials as same. It is possible?
Yes, but you can assign only one material to each component. Therefore, you will have to create separate FEM files if you want to test a particular component with different materials.
Hello, Iam trying to important stp file in hypermesh. while importing the file iam facing error, called "segmentation error". Please help me to solve this problem
Bro, do you know how we can allocate more RAM and CPU to make the HyperMesh Analysis run fast? Because I have access to High Performance Computer which has 32 CPU's and 128GB RAM. Thanks and looking forwards to your reply soon.
Hi Gurbaksh, You use multiple cores to run an analysis faster. This can be done by specifying the below command in options field before launching the solver- "-nt " I hope this helps!
@@Aeroswap There is already a command written by default in the options box "-optskip". Should I erase this and then input "-nt" ? or Should I put "-optskip, -nt" ?
-optiskip means the solver will perform the analysis and skip the optimization. As this is just an analysis and not optimization, you can keep it or erase it. Both is okay.
@@Aeroswap Thanks for letting me know what -optiskip means, I wasn't aware before. But unfortunately, when I am giving it a go I am not getting the .mvw file which I usually use to get. Also, I am not able to see the HyperMesh Analysis Progress window while following this approach.
Hi sir i'm using hyperworks 2019, I did as you instructed but i got an error '' *** See next message about line 182288 from file: D:/hyperwork/OptiStruct/heat_themal/transient_themal.fem "DLOAD 10 1.0 8 1.0 9" *** ERROR # 1000 *** in the input data: Incorrect data in field # 3.'' can you help me explain this error? thank sir
Hi Tuan, Looks like you have missed out on some step in the setup process. Please watch the tutorial carefully and follow every step. It will resolve the error.
The error message states that something is not correctly defined in the DLOAD. Please check all scale factor values. Also check whether you have assigned the DLOAD in correct field in the loadstep.
