Someone said that all this (Red getting the transistor and everything else) was because Sybil told the camerata that Red was alone, maybe she said that because that was the only way to save Red. Just some thoughts.

She indeed told the Camerata that Red will be alone. She loved Red and was envious of the man.

I think Sybil sings this song because she knows there's no way she can save Red's life. She knows what the process can do, and she thinks the best way to keep Red from suffering is to kill her. She assumes Red blames her for everything that happened, especially to Mr. Nobody. I like to think so because it makes her a more intelligent character, and gives the boss battle a little more meaning.

I got a much more vindictive and bitter vibe from the song. Red sung the song about Sybil, and now Sybil sings it back at her. "I'll do what I can, but I won't save you", and "Maybe you're looking for someone to blame ... never be sorry for your little time, it's not when you get there, it's always the climb, but I won't save you". Sybil loves Red but she's throwing Red's disregard for Sybil back in her face. I made sure you didn't die, but I'll still try to tear you throat out, because you broke my heart.

I could have been wrong, but I think the two of them have the same voice actress...

It’s a beautiful production and the musical quality & choreography is as good as it gets in any media.

Transistor is one of my all-time favorite games. It hits exactly right. Supergiant knows how to present and tell a story and what, specifically, to avoid elaborating on. As a programmer, I have two rather contradictory interpretations, both of which make sense and neither of which undermines the impact or meaning of the work. Bastion was beautiful, but not really my jam. Pyre had appeal, but wasn't really my thing either (I got through it much later in practically a single sitting and omfg is it a genius piece of work ♡). I forgot where I was going with that--WOO SUPERGIANT!

I love the character in this game. The whole idea that she was plotting against you but at the same time she did so you could save yourself. It fascinates me

I decided to fight 'em for fun, Transistor'/the man Comment aftewards made it all worth it: "you're really something Red".

There's some combos that make fighting the young ladies really easy, I remember using jaunt+spark and... purge? Basically had no need for turn.

yeah i used the same function and upgrades :) With Get, Tap, and Void.. makes for a pretty easy playthrough.

I mean, by what I understood, her purpose or "motive" to be more precise wasn't to save everyone, it was to restore breach's body and her voice. Saving everyone would have probably just been a byproduct of that. At least that's what I understood, dunno if I'm right or not since that's also how the writers intended the story to be, uncertain and up to interpretation

the guy in the transistor is named boxer *IIRC*, so i'm pretty sure he was a literal boxer given his wrapped hands in some image within the game

@@boredomarisen Agree! I do think when Paper Boats plays in the ending scene his hands are wrapped with bandages. I guess somewhere along the line he became Red's bodyguard and they eventually developed feelings for each other.

But she won't save her no matter how much she understands her plight. Also Sybil was more obsessed with her than really in love. I mean she barely knew Red.

Well she kinda save her by lying about Red being alone when the camareta went after her. That saved her

Jamaigar gar it’s a 2-purpose lie which helps her save Red, thus eleminating her lover, Blue/Auden/Boxer, therefore having Red for herself when she use the Transistor on Red later on( well, she planned to)

Tbf I think we can all understand where Sybil and Mr. Nobody were coming from

Auden in old english means old friend. A reference to the first song you hear, when starting the game seeing him lying on the ground with the transistor in him.

He's also referenced in files as Boxer, not only Auden (and Boxer seems to be the name the community likes to call him)

I think it may be because of her Transistor function files. "Infatuated" can very easily be read as either deeply invested in someone, or, well, in love or lusting for someone. Both definitions are valid, but I rarely say I'm "infatuated" with anyone unless I'm talking romantically. Red doesn't have feelings for Sybil, that much is at the very least clear, but, the other way around, the case can certainly be made. Sybil's processed self is incredibly insistent on wanting to "save" Red, she presented Red as a target for the Camerata not to kill Red but to kill her lover instead... While it's not outright *stated* she's in love with Red, it's certainly a completely plausible read, especially considering the rest of the Camerata's relationship to love. (aside from Royce, unless you want to say he's in love with the Transistor(jk)) Most of the Camerata, Red and Mr Nobody have very strong themes of love, so Sybil wouldn't be too out of place. And hey, love isn't always about sex. For the most part, even, that's not what love is about.

Oh, I see. The problem here is that the word "Infatuated" was translated incorrectly into my native language. It sounded something like "Charmed". Well, that's a pity. In the media space, there are very few topics related to the problems of unsuccessful socialization and building friendships. More and more people are taking signs of attention for romantic interest and flirting. And I partially agree with you on the question of love. There is, for example, friendly love, which does not imply sexual relations at all, but still remains love. That's why I was confused when people called Sybil in love with Red. Many people (especially those with certain mental accentuations and disorders) are dependent on the attention of "reference" people (friends or lovers).

@@terterar1610 To be fair, it still depends on interpretation. The thing about Transistor is that very little is actually *directly* stated. And either way, Sybil still has much the same sort of messages. Despite the *nature* of her affection, Red still either: Barely knows she exists, or, just straight up doesn't like her, something that Sybil refuses to accept and decides to put the blame on her man, not that some things just aren't meant to be. It's also a pretty decent representation of parasocial relationships.

Despite what the community suggests, Sybil having a true romantic / sexual attraction to Red hasn't been concretely confirmed, though it's heavily insinuated her infatuation suggests there could be. Same sex attractions are very common in this setting, too.
