Now, onto Supergiant's other games! Bastion will be perfect is you loved Transistor because it more-or-less follows the same recipe; a beat-em-up accompanied by rich, narrated story. Pyre is my personal favorite; the story, art and music was simply mindblowing, and I've never been more emotionally attached to a game's characters and their struggles. I shit you not, I had a huge nostalgia boner listening to Pyre's soundtrack... one week after completing the game. XD

For those who don't follow the indie scene much, I HIGHLY implore you to explore Supergiant's three games. They are my favorite indie games and sadly, the noise died down quite quickly. I love this studio. If you want a brawler, pick up Bastion. If you want a sports-like RPG (That's right, a sports game with RPG elements) with an amazing text based story, pick up Pyre. Bricky does a great job outlining Transistor. All of these games are 20$ on PC, PS4, and varied other platforms. (Still holding out for Pyre on Switch for the local multiplayer.) Some things that these games have in common, is amazing stories, art and music. Glad you gave Transistor a shot, Bricky-Brick. Have a good one.

Pyre is NOT a sports game though. It is a visual novel first and foremost - 80% of your time will be spent reading and talking to magnificently written characters, and the rest is a high-adrenaline arcade game, which is also super fun and follows all the best Supergiant gameplay traditions of intertwining story into the gameplay, plus motivating variety.

The motivations of the cameratta has stuck with for years. "When everything changes, nothing changes", since everything can built, torn down or alternate with no regard to cost, time and resources, Nothing is remembered and thus everthing repeats itself in a circle of convience.

Oh, this video gave my heart the good feels. I initially picked up this game because of the blend of art nouveau (my favourite art movement) and cyberpunk and the music direction. It was on my "GameStruck" list thingie as soon as I thought to do it. The game and story mean a great deal with me. To see a video like this make it onto your main channel, with an ending message I hope a lot of people pay attention to, makes me genuinely happy. Thank you. (also holy shit you got it on vinyl?! that's too awesome.)

I love that transistor's gameplay has flexibility, having come from roguelites it was a nice change of pace to be able to slow down and think through each new encounter while still having the choice and rush of action rpg gameplay. I found the planning tests easy as hell compared to the other tests so I'll probably be looking for more turn-based/strategy games in the future

From their first game "Bastion", to "Transistor" and their most current game "Pyre", SuperGiant Games have proven themselves time and time again to be amazing storytellers. The way they told the story of Bastion and how they made even the enemies and villains of the story to be wholly sympathetic, to the beautiful way they told the story of Transistor and Pyre, is simply amazing Our boy Bricky here is 100% right. Go get any of the games made by SuperGiant, and I guarantee you that you will have a good time. Thanks for showing this Bricky, more people deserve to know these under-appreciated games

Dang Bricky, I’ve been a subscriber of yours for a while now and I’m definitely one of those guys who just sits back in the shadows. I’ve watched you grow as a content creator all the way back since story times and CSGO. I started watching you for you league content but I love watching everything you put out now. And I’m not here to gush about you or anything, but rather say you are one of my favorite content creators for this reason: you adapt so well to the platform and your viewers while still keeping a sense of yourself as an artist. It’s videos like this that I love. I can hear the passion while you talk about this game and you can really tell that you love what you do. Anyway, sorry for the long rant, but I just wanted to tell you that you’re doing a great job and you always bring a smile to my face. This is great! I fell in love with the soundtrack about a year ago and I havent actually played this game and I will someday, but Ive watched the entire playthrough because I wanted to learn more about the story and I knew watching the cutscenes wouldnt be enough on its own. Because you get so much information from even the fight scenes and all in between, mainly from the person trapped inside the transistor who I simply refer to as "Him" since we NEVER learn his name and yet he is a very likable character. You can say what you want about the ending but I loved it and it made me cry. And I cant stress enough how knowing the story a little better adds to the already amazing soundtrack that you could appreciate even without playing the game. It goes without saying that the visuals are amazing as well.

To be honest, when I found you playing the game. The soundtrack was just so good when I heard the first song that I straight up listened to the whole soundtrack. The soundtrack is a great element of the game, it's like the icing on a cake. Additionally, I'll agree with you on the aspect of storytelling, it's a major element of games, I'm actually a games design student in college and right now I am looking at different games and how they develop each section of those games. I'd have to say that the key to a good game is either the gameplay, or storyline (In my opinion). I'm still learning about games design and hoping to start working on games myself, videos like these are actually beneficial ngl. It helps people get a much better insight of what constructs a good game and what doesn't. By the way Bricky, keep up the good work. I love your content!

One of my faovurite quotes from bastion that applies to both the first 2 supergiant games is "most stories start at the beginning, ain't so simple with this one" and even if in both games I feel like I got a solid understanding and appreciation for the story after playing them once, the way the game can be priamrily gameplay for msot of its runtime, and still the whole time be slowly building its story into one that makes you think about events and how things all reach into each other is just, so good, supergiant shows such a good understanding for what video games can do without feeling like the game needs to shy away from what it is. I played hades when it came out and only recently after hades 2 started going through their backlog and am currently on pyre but its been such a fuin and interesting journey.

BRICKY! I've been saying it for months and I'll keep on saying it. You have to play Valiant Hearts: The Great War. In a way, it's similar to Transistor. It has pretty fun gameplay and an amazing story, as well as probably the best character development I've seen in a game ever. And the ending, just... wow. It had a lasting effect on so many players and almost every youtuber that played it has cried (for real tho). Yes, I know the game is a little old, but hey, it's a fucking good game. Played this game before your play through and I recommended it to all of my friends, ever single point of expression in this game is done beautifully and makes you feel tied to this world supergiant has created. And not even just the story, the interactions in combat and the combat itself makes you feel the power behind your character and gives everything you do weight and meaning (partially from leveling different abilities as you said for story), 10/10 a must buy.

Transistor has been my favourite video game for almost 4 years now and it only gets better the more think about it. I call this the "aftertaste" of a game. The gameplay of Transistor is good. It's not for everyone, but it's good and it's deep. The story is not easily understood and you miss most of the subtleties when playing the game for the first time. So the first taste was good. A little less spicy than Bastion, but still good. But then you replay it. You notice the subtleties, you understand more about the story, you streamline your fighting style, you learn that each ability in your arsenal is a reflection of the person who were absorbed into the transistor (like Sybil's charm) and you come up with all these theories "What is the Country? What do the Selections mean? Who is the Mysterious Man who saved Red?". The more I think about that game, the better it gets. That's what I mean by aftertaste. And Transistor is the tastiest game I've ever played and I enjoy this taste every time I replay this beautiful game. Also Darren Korb is a freaking genius! Him being a childhood friend of Supergiant's founders and being on these games super early on, means that his music inspired the art and design and vice versa. The soundtrack fits the game so well and is really nice to listen to on its own as well!

Transistor was the first game I 100% completed. I played the game 3 times in the course of two months because different elements kept me coming back for more. The music, the style, the tone, to learning more about specific character motivations and actions taken. What a great game.

I don't like cyberpunk games but I still loved this. The aesthetics of it also help a lot. It has a lot of futuristic elements but it doesn't feel alien. It also has the same atmosphere that I perceive from nighttime in a present day city. With soft glows and lights from streetlamps and neon signs. And instead of having hologram billboards, the game world actually has paper posters. And there are other elements that give a slight sense of familiarity that makes it comfortable to explore the world of Transistor, as well as it makes the process and their effect on the game world appear more intimidating, more effective.

Ok well I started playing warframe because of you and enjoyed it, and then bought for honor because of you and I'm really really enjoying it. This seems like the kind of game that I'd love and it almost seems like reading a book with gameplay. I'll trust your recommendation Bricky and get this game.

Didn't expect serious review from ya, Brick. Really well done tho, so can't complain. Wouldn't like seeing another if you find a game that means something similiar to you ^^

Supergiant games are always incredible, always innovative, always with interesting characters and plots, always with mind blowing music and so far they've never let me down interms of quality content.... After playing this game I bought the other 2 titles without even bothering with reviews Cuz I knew it'd be amazing and it was. To all those who haven't played their titles I suggest u try it immediately you won't regret it.

transistor was easily one of the best games i have played in a while. i bought the game during a steam sale years ago, and got to playing it a month ago. Im glad i got back to it. I had a beautifull litle gem of a game hiding in my steam library. This game makes you WANT too replay it till you understand it all. atleast if it goes on sale do yourself a favor and get this game!
