Excited to see the long-term review! My new whip came down to the Sentinel V2 and the Meta TR 29. I went with the Meta TR. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on how these two compare. Thanks and keep up the great work! Happy New Year!
@@StraightLine_MTB demoed on this bike earlier in the year and fell in love. Been 20+ years since I’ve road but I have plenty of room to grow on the Sentinel (nice long rides and can still boost em or in my case maybe micro boost em... for now).
Both great bikes with different personalities. The AM is one of the most confident bikes I've ridden and Sentinel is one of the most fun bigger bikes. Wish I could keep them all 😆
I had the 27.5 Spectral and that was a very fun bike. I am super interested in the 29 version. This Sentinel is really a fun bike and may be keeping this one for a while. Thanks for watching!
Hello @straight line mtb! Hope you are feeling better by the day! Just wanna know since you and i owned a 27.5 canyon spectral, how does it compare? Like the playfulness , decending performance and climbing ? Cheers!
@@JL_bryan The Spectral was the bike that I got to be a much better rider during the time I had it. The Spectral was a fair bit more playful but wasn't as capable on the downs. These differences have a lot to do with wheel size of course. The '18 Spectral is for sure more of a trail bike where Sentinel is more enduro.
@@JL_bryan it's been a while since I've ridden the Spectral but I'd say the Sentinel's rear movement on climbs doesn't feel like a negative. Support and comfort come to mind.
Great video’s mate would love you do reviews on the new Canyon Spectral 29 cf7 or 8 and Giant Trance X Advanced Pro 1 so you can make up my mind for me🤣
Great balanced review! Just remember to tuck and roll, lol. A bit of Arnica cream along with a good dose of Netflix and you'll be right as rain in no time bro ;-)
@@StraightLine_MTB You're welcome. I appreciate your videos. Sorry about your crash. I now have that goes, I broke my collarbone in february. I hope it heals up fast for you. When you were talking about going through that really rough janky Black diamond Trail, and you said it didn't feel like the other bikes. I was also thinking you may need a little more time to experiment with the suspension.
@@Windband1 I am still working on suspension setup but stock shock and fork have minimal adjustments so that limits fine tuning. I thinking of trying a coil on this bike which would put it in beast mode.
@@ambroseneville5453 The Sentinel's 76.9° STA is great and it is super low so you're able to run a longer dropper post which is awesome. Also, it a pretty amazing bike.
I'd say the AF has a small edge on the climbs. On the downs the suspension feeling (how they had kept chunk/comfort) feel very similar but the V2 has more aggressive geometry so give a more confident feeling. The AF feels more compact. Both great but if I was forced to choose carbon ripmo or carbon v2.....I'd choose V2.
@@StraightLine_MTB Thank you for your thoughts and for sharing your real life experience. Your channel is incredible. I love your candor, and non-paid reviews. Keep up the fantastic work!
Thanks brother, getting better daily. Trails are in Auburn, CA in the Auburn SRA. Lots if great options whether shuttle, climb and bomb, ore great xc grinders. So much fun
