The best tip ever. As the hip socket goes back is when the transition starts. I was really quick with my transition. Thank you so much! So many RU-vid videos on the downswing transition, yours by far the best. You really simplified it and l hope many amateurs golfers watch this video.

Love the topic of transition. Golfer for 3 years. Bad over the top. Nothing works although the chair drill is helping. I was standing up on down swing. How to transition is hard to figure out. I can’t just drop my arms. That doesn’t work. Sit in transition sounds like a winner. Thanks for saying when to start early and not just at the top. I subscribed.😊

It's crazy Billy, but a mini version of this move seems to really help my chipping... Probably means I'm a bigger mess than I thought...

It's one of the best step by step explanations of transition on RU-vid 👏. Once you move to the left side, you are shallowing hands and club shaft automatically. All i think is move to the left side and release the golf club. It's in the right spot every single time. It's impressive how that works 💪

Good to see someone teaching concepts like Mike, saw a couple of videos of you with him, taking time to get used to this concept of hip back, hands in, clubhead out, but boy it works when timed right.

This was a game changer for me. The “sitting” down helps me transition and really use my legs off the ground. It also allows me to swing like I’m skipping a rock with my driver. More distance with a draw and easier on my bad back!! This has been great. Thanks for the video

Awesome explanation. I will try this. Thank You. I tend to have an overactive body and as a result spin off the back foot and have left hand path etc. really working hard on this correction and it all boils down to transition sequence. excellent description

This is the type of move I’ve been searching for. I think the big problem is most people like me bring their entire body to the front foot which does just get you steep, as you state. When you sit into your left side, your head is not moving all that much, it’s more your beltline, which allows for room to shallow. I’ve also noticed with relaxed wrist/arms at the top you can get increased lag which is a bonus. I don’t know why I don’t see more of this being taught . There’s so much misinformation out there which makes it impossible for the average golfer to improve. Thank you for a great video. 😊

Really good technique. It slows down the backswing and downswing because your focus becomes the sitting/hip and not the arms

Thank you I finally can execute a good transition move. The way you explain it makes it doable for me. I understand the space and fully expected this to straighten out my shots. But I seem to be hitting many to the right. Could be I am swaying past the ball, I am very sure my clubface is staying square on the backswing. Is there any reason I would start hitting everything right after making your change of rotating my lead hip while keeping my back hip back?? Am I not rotating enough on the follow through perhaps?

Great instructional Billy. The key for me is the idea that the left leg transition move begins before the hands get to the top. My swing feels so much more athletic now. When was the last time you were out at the OCC?

Great video, thanks. Where does the “push” come from to finish the swing? Is it from the left foot pushing up, or from the right foot during the transition? Thanks again

Hi, I've been working on the swing using your videos and Mike's but I've developed a slight fat shot. I feel like I'm hanging back and flipping at it. Please, any suggestions or can you point me to any of your videos you might have done. Many thanks 😊
@BillyFitzgeraldGolf

Hi Matt. Check out my video finding your natural abilities. It sounds like your shoulder sockets maybe locking up making your arms unable to move independently from your body which makes your right shoulder move into the ball causing you to hit it slightly fat.

Should the timing and continuous smooth flow in the transition be the number one thing in your golf swing
@BillyFitzgeraldGolf

Hi Raymond What I can tell you is everybody is different in what “the number 1 thing” for them is but yes this is a big deal.

Should you feel as though your leaving your arms behind on your transition? And is there a little loop on transitioning from back to forward swing
@BillyFitzgeraldGolf
@BillyFitzgeraldGolf 2 года назад
Hi Raymond. Yes, it’s a chain reaction. Fist is the change in direction in your feet, this tilts your spine and shoulders and which drops your arms. The key is you want to be soft enough in your arms and shoulders to allow this sequence to happen.

@@BillyFitzgeraldGolf Once the change in direction has been completed and the club drops, then you feel / initiate the club’s momentum out in front of you?
@spmerrell63

Is this also for both irons and driver?
@BillyFitzgeraldGolf
@BillyFitzgeraldGolf 2 года назад
Hi Stephen, yes by feeling the correct transition or sitting motion which keeps your right hip back the momentum of the club can easily be directed toward the ball because the handle of the club is in the correct position
@BillyFitzgeraldGolf
@BillyFitzgeraldGolf 2 года назад
Yes for the driver and irons as well

Guys the bottom line with regards to transitioning to your front leg is actually quite simple. So here it is: “If you are not feeling a NOTICEABLE push of power from your rear foot/leg through impact then you are NOT transitioning to your forward leg property.” Did Ben Hogan FEEL as though he was pulling the shaft through his RIGHT FRONT POCKET???…….Absolutely.

@@BillyFitzgeraldGolfand am I pushing off back foot? Or just do that sit move? I’m new to golf and keep hitting off back foot. It’s very frustrating. When you say push and go where am I pushing?
@BillyFitzgeraldGolf
@BillyFitzgeraldGolf 22 дня назад
@@bj146651 once you move up to your left foot, your left foot pushes your left hip back to your right hip. So your right hip moves back, then up to your left foot and left foot pushes left hip back. This motion allows the right arm to compress the ball without body interference

In other words, right butt cheek pushes at target. Gears shows elite player's right hip bone moves back and left 1" to 2". amateurs right hip bone thrusts out to ball.

This is spot on 👍⛳️….get into your left foot through a combination of right hip socket and the momentum of the club going towards the target..recentering you
@pauldesesso3125

Right in theory, a disaster in actuality. Unless one coils tightly with the weight centered or slightly to the left side for a right handed golfer, and with both hands securely on the club, it will result in a flip. That’s why your thoughts on transition are only theoretically right. In practice it won’t happen. Only a proper turn prevents the deadly flip over the top instead of an inside swing the desired result. Check out Keegan Bradley who illustrates this perfectly in his swing. Paul
@BillyFitzgeraldGolf
@BillyFitzgeraldGolf Год назад
Your absolutely right Paul. If the swing ended in transition with no front hip movement moving away from the ball the club goes straight at the target or even to the right and the momentum of the club face will wildly flip every time. This video is basically how to get back to the front foot and put it in the ground. Once the foot is in the ground it stops the forward momentum and pushes back and away making room for the swing to come down and enabling the arms grip and face to go left so the club face stays on the path and square to the path. I see so many people push off with the trail foot to start the swing that this video was made to give a different picture from that destructive motion. Once the lead foot is in the ground it pushes away from the ball accelerating the club head. Thanks for the note and the heads up Paul.
