Transitions in 86 Eighty-Six are incredible 

One thing of note is that, in the first volume (and maybe the second one), the transitions were so sudden that you had to read a paragraph or two to realise the scene had changed. This has somewhat the same feeling.

The director did this anime really REALLY well. It's a masterpiece

I'm one of those snobs that complain when most adaptations fail to properly adapt written media to the big screen. Yet, 86 has been one of the very few shows where, imo, the adsptation goes above and beyond the original and only serves to improve upon the original. It's directing was incredible and the team responsible at A1 really deserve all the praise they can get. There is almost nothing I could fault about this adaptation,

Toshimasa Ishii, the director of the 86 anime, definitely deserves an Oscar award at this point. Not only has he done a great job at sticking to the original source material from the LN while adapting the story of the 86 into an anime, but he also manage to connect all the scenes together beautifully with these transitions. And it’s rare anyone pull that sort of thing off when adapting a LN into an anime.

And if I'm not mistaken, this is the first big project of the Director of the show which is fucking insane considering how good they managed to connect the episodes together

This show is a cinematic masterpiece. Extremely slept on

Episode 7 is one of my favorite episodes mostly because the fireworks had so much meaning and the music just blended everything together, a true masterpiece.

I really hope they can reassemble the same staff for the eventual season 2, this phenomenal work must keep going.

The transitions are amazing but the fact that it's not the reason this anime is my favorite is even more amazing

Those first few transitions where something like dropped/spilled food transitioned into someone getting shot or the sounds of the battlefield were so shocking for my brain - I wasn't expecting the sudden shift to violence and loss, and that's exactly what the lives of the 86 are like. I also think it's a brilliant way of showing how the most mundane things could remind a soldier of war (spoken with full awareness that I have not experienced this, so I apologize if it's inaccurate to someone's actual experience of this). Also - thanks for compiling these! I always thought the transitions were amazing, and this video helped me notice ones I hadn't appreciated as much!

The anime would've turned out very average if it wasn't for the genius that is the director. That guy was an assistant director to almost all animes animated by A1 Pictures. And of course, I'm not just talking about the transitions.

I think one of the transitions that hitted the most was Fido's memories. That was brilliantly done.

Details such as how much effort was put into making these transitions for the anime adaptation of _Eighty-Six_ really puts it above and beyond most Hollywood live action movies nowadays.

Man, there were some many moments that had me on the verge of tears, but the ending...man, that ending was perfection. The song, the flashbacks, and way the shadows of Shin and Lena's hands form an 8 and a 6.

also the sound effects on these anime are fantastic as well

This is one thing that made the anime so unbelievably amazing to me. The transitions hit so hard and made it that much more memorable. Watching this brought back so many memories of my first watch.

In this video the transitions are so good and the change is so big that it makes me wonder if they really are side by side frames in the show. Thank you for helping me remember this show.

when i first started this anime i thought to myself: oh wow another mecha anime where the world is on the verge of ending how original, i watched episode 2, switched to another anime and then thought i should give it another chance....Oh boy i was so close to not watching a masterpiece of an anime. i think ive never been this emotional with any anime i ever watched compared to 86.
