Yes that should be correct. It should tell you on the dipstick it self a few inches above the 2 measuring lines. You are shooting for no lower than half wait between the two measuring lines probably about a quarter from the fuel line if cold (first crank up of the bay) if you've been driving it for a while it should be measuring around the full mark. You should be using ATF+4 and I also do not recommend the cheap Walmart brand it seemed to not be up to the task for a complete change out a fluid. Thank you for watching the video hopefully you gave it a thumbs up.
Hell yeah excellent video what I was looking for. 5:55 that’s the 3-4 accumulator spring. Does break mine was just smaller from being worn replaced with the transgo kit. Didn’t install the other shit that came with it wasn’t confident enough to start drilling my valve body. My main problem was it starting out in second anyways. For me replacing the governor pressure solenoid fix my issue wish I adjust my band clamps but I’ll do it next tranny service to bad these pans don’t have drain plugs lol
5-speed automatic or manual? If it's a automatic and it was a bolt beside the shifter where the front cooler line comes out, up in that area. It will most likely be your second gear band anchor has dropped off and fell into the pan which means you have to take the pan off and the valve body down and off to get up to it to reinstall it. If it's a five-speed manual I'm not sure what it would be because I have not worked on one of those. Nothing I would suggest is like you're doing keep researching if you don't come up with anything contact a local transmission shop and ask their advice.
The bands are first you or they kick down bands inside the transmission. The one towards the engine on the front of the transmission as for your second to third shift the one that is inside your oil pan is the reverse kickdown band. Really the best way to know if you need to adjust these is when you're changing the filter and have to have the oil pan off. With the oil pan off you can actually see baton rouge servers that are connected to the band where they are engaged. Take hold of a leaver connected to the servo and move it in a downward position you should have somewhere between 1/4 to 1/2 play but not any more than half. If you have more than a half inch or public needs to do an adjustment on the bands. I will try to send you a link to where I was doing the adjustments on my truck.
I will never understand why Mopar and GM never put a tranny fluid drain plug on their engines. Ford does on their recent engines for at least 20 years now as far sa i can tell. It is a great idea. Why Mopar and GM ? To save a buck per vehicle ?
I believe it to make it harder for people to do their own work. So hopefully the transmissions will blow up and they'd have to come back to the dealer or buy one through dealership. Vehicles nowadays our just made to make more money for the dealership one way or another. There's so many things that I've got into that if they did it just a little differently anybody could have done the work, they try to make it the hardest way possible so you won't want to do the work yourself.
Because when you’re changing the trans fluid you should always be changing the two filters and cleaning the magnet inside of the pan. Similar to changing your motor oil, you always change the oil filter, it’s just that the oil filter isn’t inside of the oil pan because of the frequency engine oil needs to be changed.
Excellent. Thanks for the band tips as well. I really am excited to do this on my truck. I think I could do a better job than hiring someone to just f it all up for me . Thanks so much !
You're welcome. But I do recommend getting a second opinion on everything I know expert, I just did research and figured that out on my own. If you're dropping your pan to do the fluid change and the rear and adjustment that's inside the pan check the forward and back band play some of the professionals say as long as you got about half inch to three quarters of an inch of play and nothing over 3/4 of an inch he should be fine if you want to double check you can always do the adjustment. The band adjustments from the professionals sometimes very If you're planning on doing it I recommend watching 46re class at transmission bench I believe it's class 2 lesson 5 about adjusting the bands on the rebuild. They have a full tear down and rebuild of a 46re transmission which is kind of interesting to see have all the parts work together inside a transmission.
No I don't believe so. Usually manual transmissions do not have any filtration system. Usually they only have a drain plug which is sometimes magnetized to pick up debris. Usually you only have a drain plug on the bottom or on the side of the bottom. And a fill plug on the upper side of the transmission. Usually the upper plug the fill plug is also your measuring device usually you pump in the fluid through the fill plug and once it reaches that level it starts running out you put your fuel plug back in and you're ready to go for another 30 to 70,000 miles. I don't know who a lot about the Dodge manual transmissions. I'd recommend doing a little research and maybe a Google before attempting. I know the '80s model uses about 4 to 5 quarts of 75w90 gear oil. Hope this information helps good luck on your fluid transfer. Also a good way to know approximately how much to put back in IF your transmission isn't leaking everywhere. IS TO MEASURE HOW MUCH COMES OUT AND PUT APPROXIMATELY THAT MUCH BACK IN AND PROBABLY JUST A LITTLE EXTRA UNLESS IT STARTS RUNNING OUT THE FEEL WHOLE.
Have you comments on this video and most of them are excellent thank you bro or I have a question. Seems like everybody else is okay with it. But you are open to your own opinions.
@@stephengoad3091 I understand what you're saying. I'm not everyone and like I said my comment means good. I'm not saying it's a bad video at all. Just saying it could be improved but I respect your work and your viewers.
It’s a transmission check up video it’s gonna be full of extra info, covering a broad range of transmission related things. 😂 what are you expecting a drain and fill video can’t imagine not being able to focus for 10mins on something. My comment means good for the record btw
