I guess you can't fix everything without a complete overhaul. there has been a slight change at the wire colors to the solenoids between the 2 different model years. I hope this video and those photos are helpful.

@Heep J33p. Glad you got the trans issue fixed. What year is your XJ? I have a 1993. The engine had been completely rebuilt, along with a new Exhaust Manifold as well. The guy who bought it then drove it back to Michigan didn't know that when he sold it to me... No rust anywhere on the Body, Underbody or Frame. The Jeep spent 27 1/2 years in Colorado Springs, Colorado & was garage kept for a lot of the time over the past 10 years. I'm in Michigan so this summer I'll be totally cleaning off the Under-Body so I can give it a good Primer coat, A coat or 2 of Paint & then I'll be applying the best Sealer w/ 2, or 3 coats as well. Hey it's Michigan so it'll need to get the Underbody/Framing done right... I'll be taking lots of pictures of any of the prime/paint/sealer work so if someone offers me some crazy money for it the possible new owner could rest assured that there was ''Zero Rust'' under the Paint & Sealer Coats.... One of the question I had for ya was; when you drive it normally, what are your shift-points at? Mine shifts from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd & 3rd to 4th shift at 1,900 to 2,000 RPM (sometimes 3rd to 4th & then OD will shift at 1,800 RPM, but other than those RPM's sometimes from 3rd to 4th, then 4th to OD it shifts at 1,600- 1,750RPM's. If I drive it really easy, the shift-points can drop down to 1,600-1,800 RPM before shifting all the way to OD...... The reason I've been checking it was because I just made an adjustment to the Trans-Cable. I needed to start messing with it because the mileage sucked, so it'll be interesting if I get better MPG now.....

Honestly it depends on how much pressure you put on the gas pedal from taking off. If you drive it normally. Your shift patterns seem correct. It also has to due with the size tires your running. In my case I’m running 350 tires on stock 3.55 gear ratio. So my shift patterns are a little higher. 1st to 2nd gear shifts around 2500 rpm from a stop and 2nd gear holds out till around 3,000 rpm. But I’m planning on switching to 3.73 which should help with that problem.
