Gearbox fluid for life. Was told by Mercedes in 2003 for ML-430 and CLK-320. Did a lot of towing with my Landcruiser, so didn't believe him. Changed gearbox oil on ML every 80,000km. Gearbox rebuilt at 270,000km. CLK rebuilt at 70k and 140k. Mercedes later came out and recommended 40k gearbox oil changes.
Already followed a couple of your videos for jobs on my RCZ. Might look in to doing a transmission fluid change too. Mine has just got to 51k miles, but had sat for a few months before I bought it. I think changing it would make me a bit happier :)
Hi Scotti, your very helpful videos have inspired me to service my rcz myself this year, so I've been going through my tool box to check what extra tools I will require to do the job properly, my z has 75,000 miles on the clock now so giving the transmission oil a change definitely makes sense as my second gear change can be a little stiff , I hope changing the oil helps, keep the rcz video's coming I really appreciate it thanks Stuart. P.s hope you have sorted your engine management light issue out keep us up to date , good luck.
Hi Stuart, thank you very much for this positive feedback Stuat, I appreciate it! Yes I think it makes sense to change the transmission oil at that mileage. My second gear sometimes popped out again when approaching a roundabout, now it's fine. As far as my channel is concerned I still have a long list of maintenance and improvement videos for the RCZ in the pipeline. One video every week would be cool but honestly one video every two weeks is realistic. Feel free to ask questions or even post pictures of anything RCZ or car related on my Facebook page: facebook.com/MotorScotti/ PS: My engine management light is gone, I'm working on two more videos on that topic (no more infos for now) and of course the autoradio stuff, etc. ;)
To be honest Scotty only noticed a slight improvement in the gear change to 2 gear because before it was only slightly notchy in 2 gear if i am not mistaken..
Great channel! Subscribed! My RCZ is 4years old now and 87K on the odometer... I definitely gonna change the gearbox oil now this weekend after seeing this video =O Thank you for taking the time and showing us how to do it. Cheers!
Thank you!! It was a great car for me. I'm not sure about the 2.0 HDi. If you have a 6-speed manual, probably yes, but you'd have to look it up to be sure.
Super tuto avec une nette amélioration côté montage vidéo :-) Par contre laisse tomber le T-shirt Levis au début ^^ privilégies plutôt le Night Rider, ça fera teaser pour ta prochaine série de tutos ;-)
Good job Scotti, 75w80 is the right choice for psa gearbox. Any other viscosity number it's simply inadequate. Tried motul 75w90 in my thp and i can't insert gears smoothly when car is cold. Imho best oil is champion 75w80 new energy (totally full synth oil)
Thanks! I didn't use a well known brand but the right viscosity is more important and it sure was better than the old oil that was in it. Thanks for watching.
I have a 2006 Peugeot 206 GTI with a similar gearbox setup. You need a square plug to unscrew both top and bottom screws. I shaved the edges off a round bolt to make an approx 8mm square bolt (maybe a bit smaller) that fitted the holes. I had to take off the air pipe (easy) and I removed the battery and pushed one of the black plastic pipes out of the way by loosening the clip. But I couldn't remove the gear cable (as shown in this video but not clearly). Luckily I managed to twist the cable just enough to squeeze my home-made bolt into the hole without removing the cable. Took a LOT of trial and error. Why would you design a car like this???
Because most manufacturers don't recommend to change the transmission oil at all. These gearboxes are meant to have oil for life, only car guys go the extra length and change it.
@@MotorScotti After doing the oil change I can see where red fluid is leaking along the front of the gasket between the engine and gearbox. A Peugeot specialist told me this is where they commonly leak.
Gear shifting is pretty rough on my 2013 RCZ that has done around 68000 km. Sometimes when i switch to gear i feel one solid 'click' but other times it feels more like grinding (particularly when switching to third gear). I wonder if trasmission oil change would make gear shifting smoother. I will probably give it a try.
Ričardas Stoma Hi Ričardas, yes it's definitively a good time to change the oil at that mileage. I might even do it again every 60'000 km. Thank you for watching!
Tony Definitely Motul 300 75w90. Second you mentioned is for limited slip differentials. Any fluids suggested by Peugeot are crap forced by eco-terrorists.
Thanks for these videos, really appreciate them. I know you don't have the 2.0 diesel so its unfair to ask but how do I top up the adblue, I got the rcz handbook but all it talks about is the 5008 car. It's 20mm thick and helps nothing. Thanks
Hi, thanks for watching, I somehow only see this comment now... Peugeot diesel engine don't have adblue, there is nothing to top up. They only work with diesel particle filters (FAP).
Hi there ! I have a problem with my sidelamp it doesn't work.i try to change the bulb but it still the same sidelamp faulty on the onboard diagnostic.do you have any idea ?
