Ron Robertson-Swann’s sculpture 'Transnewfield' 1968 is located halfway along the western side of the 9-metre wide concrete apron that wraps around Pier 8/9. At this point, the second level of the converted wharf building extends a few metres out over the concrete to form a covered walkway, which protects the sculpture.
The three red steel elements with a maximum height of 2 metres have been arranged in a line along a grey, metal, ankle-high plinth 7m long and 1.5 m across.
The Walsh Bay Sculpture Walk is an outdoor exhibition of sculptures created by Transfield and located around Walsh Bay, just west of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Walsh Bay is a fusion of urban living just a short stroll from the heart of Sydney. This cultural precinct mixes a rich history with vibrant creativity and panoramic harbour views. Maritime wharves have been converted to stylish apartments whilst others house performing arts venues, theatres, restaurants and cafes.
