Very clean, well-done infrastructure, no litter, no graffiti!!! Really jealous, guys! Best regards from far away Georgia somewhere in the middle of Caucasus mountains. 😉

Wow, Perth Trains are fast compared to Melbourne's oh-so-slow rail system. The trains there are restricted to 80 km/h over most of the network, and even as slow as 20 in some places. And they crawl into every station, including Flinders Street. Whereas Perth's trains hit at least 100 km/h (both A and B series), possibly faster, and glide into every station at speed, including Perth Central. And WA uses narrow gauge! I miss Perth so much, and I keep wishing I'd never left (stuck on the East Coast). Thank you for uploading these videos so I can enjoy some nostalgia. ☺☺☺

This video truly brought back my memories of living in Perth in early 2000s. Back then both Midland and Fremantle lines were my favorite. Midland line is the line where I used to do trainspotting to hunt down the rare Indian Pacific train, or if I was lucky locomotive movements. Fremantle line is perhaps the most popular for the tourists. It is the service that sees the most beautiful people, plying the best places in Perth metropolitan area. Indeed Fremantle line was the very first Transperth line that I traveled with, way back in 1997. And I'm truly surprised that after the modifications in Perth station, Fremantle train service still departs from platform 7.

@TassieDinkum90

Yeah that does make sense - if I remember right the Armadale services just express through to Cannington these days and leave all the stations before that to the Thornlie trains, so they are quite different. Look forward to them :)

@@Tysxno they often don't move nicely though! The intercity trains can fly at times, through the suburbs, but it's only the Sydney North West Metro that would keep up with Perth trains & Melbourne is no better. @@johnsergei nice to know Perth is kind of leading in trains hahaha, I also believe our transport network is the most organised and easy to understand or use no?
@johnsergei
@johnsergei 2 года назад
@@Tysxno Only if you are near a railway line. Mellbourne's, when it had Perth Or Adelaide's current population, in the 1930s had 14 electrified railway lines & about 25 tram routes & 700 or so trams. Sydney @ the time had 1,600 trams. Remember, even a suburban steam train is a faster and more comfortable journey than a modern urban bus & for most commuters in Perth, Brisbane & Adelaide, that is their only option. A modern tram makes a bus ride feel like chucked in the back of a truck & most sound like the fucking engine room of a Sydney ferry I would have loved to have seen Perth and Brisbane before rail electrification. The change has been much greater than in Sydney and Melbourne, which have basically the same system, just with new trains. I have lived in Adelaide over the decades too & finally the sparks are taking over there too. It had a bigger rail system than Perth in the 1970s, with far more DMU railcars and routes, & it's now smaller @ least in terms of usage & I think shorter? In fact in the 2000s the patronage was a tiny fraction of Perth @ the time, which has grown from 2 miserable slow, noisy stinky, unkept lines 40 years a go efficiant, comfortable system in this & other videos.

@@johnsergei wow this is really interesting to read, I don’t know enough about trains like this hahah All I know is our original series electric trains are still being used and run very well, and we’re way ahead of their time, atleast I think Trams seem like a good idea but I’m not sure about in PERTH in the modern day, the cat buses seem to work well, especially to be free to ride

When you think about it, a 55 minute trip from one end of the line to other is actually not bad, considering it takes 52 minutes for a trip from Mandurah into the city, then another 40-ish from Perth to Butler.
