Episode 2 - Transport Fever 2
We're setting out into the Free Game mode, starting in 1900 on medium difficulty, with the US vehicle set and a small randomly generated 1:3 map. The cities are from Minnesota, there's a giant river running north to south and we're going to connect everything (via a mainline!).

I really love the fact that you can slow down, or stop the time, and keep the game running now, without having to worry about time advancing too quickly, and I can't believe some people feel that this is "cheaty". All it's doing is giving you time to get everything setup, and allowing you the time to enjoy the vehicles of that time period for longer than would be possible. It does not give you any advantages, and I just think people don't understand what this feature actually does. Also, I'm really happy you are going to be sharing this map on the workshop. I think I will give it a try myself next week.

I forgot to mention that the St. Cload Quarries are now a County owned Park with trails. It's most notably known for cliff jumping in the area. Most of the old pits are full of water (the deepest goes down to approximately 144 ft deep). It was a quarry that has a new purpose.

The locomotive named “Gondola” is actually quite a famous piece; as the description states, it gained fame as one of the locomotives that Casey Jones drove, him being probably the most famous train driver in the world. “Gondola” might be a glitch, so I’d imagine Urban Games would fix that by release day.

Hi GrandT, thanks for the videos they are very relaxing to watch. I never had the previous version so I was in two minds about purchasing this game even after watching more than a few videos. After watching you do the missions and then start this great map, I did pre-purchase it for the very reasons I think I can follow along with you after doing the missions or tutorials, thanks a lot I hope it will be fun for all concerned. Production is how much is being produced by the factory. Shipping is how much is being transported from the factory. Transport is how much has reached it's final destination. vOv If you open a window and want some more information, hit the question mark just above your earnings, and it'll give a little info.

Another thing you can do to make a motza would be to run a freight train to Grand Rapids with the bricks where you could also connect a passenger terminal and run your bus routes to the train terminal and you could have 4 trains running to Grand Rapids from Minneapolis(2 passenger and 2 brick cargo)

New subscriber, just a few suggestions. When you created your first train, you should have created three passing loops. One near the beginning of both the log mill and the other at the beginning before the Grand Rapids depot, the other in the middle. To have the train waiting so far with one passing loop is not efficient, plus as you saw while its waiting there it is costing you money. Efficiency will come in handy as you get more trains and the lines get more busy. I enjoy hearing you narrate, so keep it up. Looking forward to watching the next videos

You make great content, grand T. It's a shame there's a lot of lazy development in this game though. Typos galore (who calls an ICRR 4-6-0 a gondola??? That's just ridiculous and misinformative about trains.) and the smoke effects coming out of steam engine cylinders are way over the top. Modders will fix it, yes, but devs shouldnt rely on modders to fix their games. Again, great content though!!

Thanks Chris! It is still a closed beta, so I tend to just mention things here and there, and they're usually quite good at fixing pre and post release issues. I will say, that in over 51 hours I've had no game breaking bugs or crashes. I do agree on the smoke, it's a bit crazy.

@@GrandT Oh it's still in beta? I thought this was prerelease for youtubers only. My mistake. I tend to get severely butthurt over issues like this, since a lot of people dont really care about accuracy when talking about trains. I do appreciate you correcting their mistake. I'm sure Casey Jones would be proud knowing people didn't drive a 'gondola' into the back of a freight train that fateful day xD

Nice work, as always. But you raised at the end of the video one of the points that I think makes this a "not good" game. You have to leave it running for 3 hours to build up enough money. I may be the only one in the world but in my book it should be neither possible nor necessary to AFK a game.

That was in reference to someone on the forums saying it's too easy, because he left it running over night. It's a valid tactic, but ultimately a choice. It was also the same in Transport Fever 1, not one I personally used. It's akin to grinding in an RPG until you've over-levelled. It would be nice to be able to play rule-set maps or have challenges. Then again, sticking to your own rules will suffice.

@@GrandT the difference being here though without mods - in TPF2 you can free time (dates not fiscal periods) so you could run it over night and see no date change. Shame to do it though.

Technically it makes it harder. Nothing changes financially, you just don't progress to the "easier" more profitable vehicles while paused. The hardest/longest challenge would be to never leave 1850 and connect the map. Date is for vehicle unlocks (Pause, 1/4, 1/2, 1, x2). Game time is the financial time (Pause, Play, x2, x4). Don't confuse the two.

@@GrandT i disagree, the challenge with a 1850 start for example is to make enough money with the first vehicles to be able to afford the new ones once the olds ones begin to falter. And at the end you said you just will et the game run for 1/2 hour to get some money. Well i'm not going to tell you how to play but i personaly find it hard to see the difference to just cheat some money in. So i wish you well but that's not my kind of "let's play" i'm afraid.

To each their own. I personally don't want to record the usual slow start in a mini series. The only thing I'm doing by pausing time is ensuring no early vehicle unlocks are missed, and it's very different from just "adding money". You first need profit and efficient lines, not typing in a new balance. To spoil the next video, I let it run for 10 minutes at normal speed and made $5 million. If I were to play a min/max speed run, I could of took out the loan in the first episode, setup and bought everything I just did and hit play (game speed, not date) and have made the same amount (if not more) than the two episodes put together. However, I'm trying to explain everything, which means I'm running slower and using the date feature to help video flow. It's not cheating, and never will be. Your elitism is admirable though.
