Wat mij opvalt van het "ouder" Afrikaans, dat het nog een heel pak meer lijkt op het Nederlands/ Antwerps dialect. bv dat vrye volk is ons zingen ze nog als dat vrije volk zijn wij.

Dis die Amptelike volkslied van die ZAR. Hulle het soms ook na hulself verwys as Transvalers, dus die herdoop van die land se naam toe die britte en afrikaners dit onwettig by die unie en republiek in gedeel het.
Die ZAR was 'n Boere-Republiek tot 1902. Dit was nie 'n provinsie nie - dis die TUISLAND van die Boervolk. Dis ons geboortereg en geboortegrond - wat nou ons ontneem is eers deur Brittanje en later deur die Unie en uiteindelik deur die ANC en NP.
Die lied is in afrikaans Nederlands en German( duits) en was gesing in SA en Suid wes ( Namibia) Oorsprong Nederlan, ons het baie nederlandse liedere soos een zilveren vloot ( Piet Hein) om maar een te noem.

Nederlands is a low german dialect, and even I (I'm bavarian) can understand what they sing and what the others write here. People from northern germany, which speak platt, wether from the northsea or, until it got lost, from east-prussia, shurely can understand it easily. Especially the Friesen I think, cause many netherlandish ppl also speak frisisch ?

North-Germanic became Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Icelandic and such, West Germanic split up again into Anglo-Frisian, Low German and High-German (which we know as simply German). Barbaartije ik denk toch dat je je vergist. Inderdaad, het lied klinkt niet honderd procent zuiver Nederlands, echter het lied is dan ook door Afrikaners gezongen. Toch denk ik dat zij getracht hebben het lied zo goed mogelijk conform de orginele Nederlandse zangtekst ten gehore te brengen. Verder wil ik erop wijzen dat het Afrikaans rond 1880 al sterk gedifferentieerd was van het Nederlands. p.s. Dat vrije volk zijn wij is wel gewoon Nederlands
@rudikrause If the settlers were mostly Walloons and Flemish then why would they make the flag full of Dutch elements. Oranje Blanje Bleu is pure Dutch influence and nothing else. Also the language is most close to dutch. In fact afrikaans is a daughter language of Dutch. That is a fact.

Een Duitser kan dit helemaal niet verstaan tenzij hij dicht tegen de Nederlandse grens aan woont. En als de Boer(en) Pruissen zouden zijn dan hadden ze toch zeker wel Bauer geheten en niet Boer. En ja het Nederlands is een West-Germaanse taal net al het Duits. En een Deen begrijpt hier al helemaal niets van. En dan heb ik het nog niet eens over de oude "Prince" vlag.
