Some of the things that Josh pulled off in the final act, make him seem like an actual magician 😂

The idea and concept is always there for me. He just has trouble flushing it out sometime. I really appreciate him for this very reason. I am never really dissatisfied because I love his mind.

It sounds like Night Shyamalan wanted a movie to put his daughter into so he quickly whipped up Trap. 🤔

The first review I ever watched of yours was M Shamalan Knight "The Servant"...I loved that show and I am a Huge fan of his. His endings are hit and miss but the journey are always enjoyable for me. I don't expect great endings from him so when I get one it's a Bonus

the way M. Night always leaves the audience divisive 😭😭

I expected more and was severely let down. 1.5/5 at best. There were too many plot holes. What was the purpose of the mom of the other girl? How was the kitchen scene even possible? Where was Raven's security detail? The limo scene was laughable, like how? The ending was frustrating. The way that law enforcement handled things was infuriating 😬 So basically it's a concert film for his daughter with a very mid sub-plot 🤷🏽‍♀️

I'm an M Night Shaylaman fan but I have no interest in seeing this movie. Good to see Josh Hartnett back on the big screen but no.

I am so over M. Night and his shenanigans over the years. I was done after Old.

man i had so much fun with this. i’ll follow josh hartnett and m night off a bridge honestly. i love pop music. and i love watching people from philly succeed (go birds). i think if you enjoy camp this is for you.

I'm not surprised this is getting mixed reviews but I still want to see it regardless I been saying Shamylan is hit or miss for me when he hits it's gas when he misses it's straight trash but I did want to watch Josh Hartnett more than anything his performance is getting good reviews

I swear you literally said everything I told my fam about the movie 😅 Spot on review. Except I was legit upset that there was no twist. He's known for this. I felt robbed at the end. No pay off! You owe me, Shyamalan 😤

The only way i'm watching this is when it comes out on Tubi. Which will most likely be years from now. Even when Game of Thrones was all over the place back in 2015 or long ago. I'm still not ready to watch it until it comes out free for me to watch. On a free...unchargeable streaming app like Tubi. So I'm totally good to watch this until I'm ready to watch it. I was hyped but I'm no longer gun-ho about it because it seems like a trash movie. Based off of reviews. Lady Raven got vocals. Nice. But limit how much is being added with a concert. I want more of the bad guy. His mentality and "creative" ways of getting out. Anyways. Edit: It should just be a Sundance short film. Less money involved. More room for creativity. Better script writing. A great opportunity to expand on the main character and his backstory as why he's the way he is.

I totally agree that Josh Hartnett was the bright spot of this film, and he was certainly carrying this on his back. But everything outside of that was a disjointed and tonally bizarre mess. Plus, the ending? Ugh! The Shyamalan shenanigans continue! 😑🙃😑

My hubs and I liked it a lot. 4*/5* It’s entertaining and fun. We watched some of the promo interviews so we knew what to expect. No twisty gimmicks. Some comic scenes. The preposterous concept: a serial killer treats his daughter to a 20,000 seat concert and gets trapped. I mean, c’mon, that’s hilarious! Hartnett was amazing, slipping back and forth from charming and doting daddy to menacing shrewd killer. Those insert scenes have a purpose and that is to show his split personality in over the top engagements. His daughter got her feelings hurt. He was mad. Then the bully’s mom blathers on about the situation and those are beautifully comic scenes. Jamie’s scenes are other points of levity. The garrulous numbskull who doesn’t realize what he’s doing. The cat and mouse game is so exciting to him, he spills all kinds of beans. 😆 The point where Cooper’s duplicity becomes singular, the trapped psychopath desperate to escape being one-upped by his daughter’s idol was an abrupt tone shift and Saleka is not experienced enough of an actor to pull that shift off. The sequence from getting through her security guards to the limo exchanges to the house were suspenseful. We understood why Cooper was so frustrated (but still one step ahead) because he could not expose the killer part of himself from Riley’s doting daddy. Throughout the movie we were rooting for Cooper! And this shift needed some expanding. More subtlety, more depth. The reveal was so well done, M Knight should have given the pair more time to pull the threads together. That last part needed greater exposition. We were particularly impressed with Cooper’s smooth extraction of the spoke from the wheel. We loved that he was still plotting his escape! Yay, serial killer! 😂 The details of the tunnel, the safe houses, his firefighting occupation, and his mommy issues were crammed into the last part of the movie. That’s a big flaw. Those threads were supposed to be realized by the audience I guess. So that’s why we took a star off our rating. Saleka was great as a performer (and we’re impressed to know she wrote the songs to reflect getting into Cooper’s mind) but she is not yet an actor and her prominent role spoiled what could have been pure suspense almost to the very end. My husband said they should have duped Jamie into making Cooper’s escape from the concert hall. 😆 Anyway, for those people who complained about this or that or this again, we want to remind them that reading or watching a work of fiction requires that “willing suspension of disbelief.” This is a very good cat and mouse thriller with parody legs. Just go with it and be entertained! We are going to see it again tomorrow night!

Great intro…really sums it up. Can’t pick just one favorite but Sixth Sense and Signs were definitely gateway M. Night movies for me. Kudos to him for creating a showpiece for his daughter. Maybe a stronger script and tighter editing would have ensured more objectivity in the execution.

Sorry to hear this one was a pretty mixed bag for you, dude! I actually had a good bit of fun with this movie, and thought it was a pretty entertaining yet messy little cat and mouse flick. Definitely loses some steam toward the end and the conclusion is a bit undercooked, but as someone that hasn't vibed with M. Night Shyamalan for a while I was surprised that it worked for me. Great review, man!

Thank you for doing this. I agree with wondering who this is for. I love horror and thrillers but this is not pulling me in for some reason, and I think a part of it is this concert thing. As grown person, watching a dad who who has to escape a teen concert so that he doesn't go to jail just doesn't sound that interesting to me. I mean of all the escape scenarios, that's probably the worse out of all of them that I can think of. 😅 I will likely sit this one out.

Josh harnett was great! But yeah m nights daughter does need some work in the acting department. I was looking for the twist and little details and was disappointed! I feel like m night needs a number 2 to go over his scripts so he gets a little push back and iron out the kinks. Feels like this year horror movies have had bad 2nd half’s, this, longlegs, Lisa Frankenstein all drop off in the 2nd half

Just came from a show and the ending fell flat for me too. A pop star turned hero? The daughter realistically wouldn't have given a damn about why her dad kept stepping away if she's a real fan. i wonder if that's really how certain people get 1-in-a-life time opportunities. Someone lies about a sickness?? If you do go see this please stay for the mid-credit scene. Not even far into the credits the character Jamie gives 1 more 😅😳 My thoughts are rambling, but so was the movie

M Knight has always been hit or miss for me..I enjoyed Signs, Sixth Sense, After Earth wasn't terrible and Split was brilliant. James McAvoy played the hell out of that role.. I haven't watched Glass yet..He ruined The Last Airbender and the rest of his films can kick rocks 😆...thanks for reviewing this movie. I will not be going out of my way to see it 🙄

2.8 is TOO high. The way they treated him when they finally caught up with him brings this down to a 1, maybe 1.5. Like you said, Josh Hartnett is the ONLY saving grace to this film.

Trap was Terrible they made the Psycho an escape artist. How did he get out the wearing a Swat uniform when the house was surrounded. Nobody saw the trap door. Then he became Super Strong when 3 different people hit him with Taser.When they caught him finally they let him pick up a bike while his hand cuffed in the front. He take a spoke off the bike How do you manage that.

This movie was good. Why is everyone nowadays some type of professional movie breakdown critic. At the end of the day a movie should entertain you enough to the point it was worth the money you spent, as an individual. A film does not need to find critical acclaim or be overly complicated to be entertaining. As long as it is acted well and entertained you, consider it money well spent. You bunch of overhyped, overstimulated, over opinionated people find a way to ruin the most simplistic things. Yes some movies are trash, I get that. But let's be reall, some of your favorite films are trash to someone. Movies ARE NOT REAL LIFE. All movies, at its most simplest level require you to have a childlike imagination and fascination to simply put, ENJOY IT. Films are simple forms of art meant to entertain you first, enlighten you........since when.

M Night is a hit or miss! 'Signs' is his best! Josh Hartnett is fantastic but the story just wasn't it.

Oh dear. Longlegs sucked. But Trap is extra crispy. I tink you have to think of it as a movie written by 13 yo girl where her father ends up being a 'disappointment' but fortunately her favorite music star saves the day. Mostly.
