Really enjoy watching you modify traps for the longest time i just used them as they came and have definitely made a difference in my catches thanks for sharing the knowledge
Hey I appreciate all the info you share in your videos, you're my go-to resource whenever I need info. I'm in Alabama and 6 inch traps are as big as we can set on land, can you tell me your opinion of duke #2's or 3's for coyotes? Was gonna run them stock for now, then modify in off season. Any opinion you could share would be much appreciated.
+Josh Roberson I run alot of #3 dukes. there a great trap. I center swivel them and reinforce the dog. bubble welding the jaw tips and welding the frame are also good ideas. the #3's bed awesome. they are my go to trap for step down dirt hole sets
Thank you for putting up videos, I enjoy them. Hope you have a great season, cant wait to see your catches. Please try and do a video on how you do your k9 sets. (unless ive just missed it, im still new to youtube).
this is I thing that I just never got, why would you put a j hook to the pogo when you could just use a speed clip and not have to worry about opening it up on the line, just a question
good how to video,,i liked it, but why not just just purchase a better trap, much easier and less time consuming, why buy traps that need all the mods to be reliable and not fall apart ..a few dollars up front goes a long ways... never understood it
When you are set up for and doing enough traps. The modifications pay for themselves over buying a trap that doesn't need it. But really that depends on how many traps you are running. Less than a dozen, pay the extra 5 bucks per trap. Running a 100+ traps, take the afternoon and save the 500 bucks.
@@kevin_raney And support slave labor that is the primary reason why the cheaper traps are that amount. Better traps don't need the mods, and will last a lifetime.
Not really sure why are replying to an old video and a comment that is two years old, but I'll be your huckleberry. Everything needs tweaks and adjustments. Does an MB 650 need laminated jaws, probably not. Does it need a new better pan.. Maybe... Does it need a chain attached with ground anchor stakes... Probably.... Does it need pan tension set... Yup... Does it need dyed and waxed... sure why not... If you are running a couple hundred traps, does it make sense to modify things yourself... You have to decide that as an individual. Sometimes people have more time than money, which I believe is the point of this video. How the average joe can take a less than ideal trap and turn it into something better. As for supporting slave labor.... I'm assuming that you mean being built in china? Lots of things are made overseas, not everything is slave labor just because it wasn't stamped "Made in USA". I have no idea if you talking about dukes or some other brand.... But I'd guess your phone/computer/tv/car/truck was made overseas somewhere. I'd sure there are "made in the USA" factories are worse than some in China/India/etc. Just buy where you heart leads you... In the grand scheme of things, our combined purchases isn't going to move the needles on any factory conditions real or otherwise. As for lasting a lifetime.... I have dukes that are 30+ years old and still look brand new... I also have victors, newhouse, etc... that looking they've been sand blasted on the surface of the moon.. A lot of it has to do with how a person takes care of their stuff.
