Trapeze performing live in Dallas 1994. The classic lineup of Mel Galley on guitar, Glenn Hughes on bass and vocals, and Dave Holland on drums. With guest Craig Erickson on guitar.
Hey y'all..I'm the other dude on the guitar...it was an absolute thrill and inspiration to be jamming with these guys for a couple months...what a feel Mel and Dave had...and of course Glenn is a divinely gifted funkrock genius...his live jamming influence will be with me forever....I just saw him at NAMM and am really looking forward to his amazing new band! what an amazing force of nature he is! thanks, Craig(the guitarist with the hat!)
I remember this song from the Hot Wire album back in the seventies. The best funk Rock ever recorded. I played this album to death. Mel galley solos were searing!
One of the best songs of Trapeze from the great "high & wire" album (the first one without Glenn). This is a great performance too, really good with Glenn featuring on bass. I haven't more words!! GREAT FUNK ROCK!!
What a great song. It's got the Trapeze magic of blending some nasty funk (stacatto riffing par excellence) and tasty chording. Glen adds as he always does to the drama with his righteous wails and down and dirty bottom end. Dave is spot-on with the beats and he's not shy! Craig E was a nice touch to round out the power trio thing to something a little more without calling a lot of attention to himself.
One of my all time favorite bands, saw them on their 1st U.S. tour back in the 70's and own all of Trapeze's LP's. As a long time fan, I was crushed when I heard of Mel's condition and the prognosis.
I saw the original band in their warmup concert just as they started the tour for this album. Great band that was really appreciated in Texas, but seems hardly known outside the state.
Does anybody know how we can get hold of more footage of this or anyother Trapeze Gigs. I loved that band and still love what Glenn is doing, very sad to hear Mels news,he was such an influence on many guitarists. My prayers are with him and his family at thistime.
This is a GREAT vid of a great gig and there is a tape of the entire thing. I saw it complete several years ago. This is among the least of what's on it. They do all the killer Trapeze tunes, and are in top form. Someone's holding this back, thats all. At least post a tune or two from Medusa and You are the Music...!!!
Wasn't a '92 UK gig also officially filmed but never released? Thanks for this..brought back memories of the Brierley Hill's Robin R'N'B show of '94. LFJ
yes... started as a 5-piece in 1969 and became a 3-piece after the first album, in 1970... Glenn, Mel Galley and Dave Holland... plus Craig Erickson on this 1994 tour.
