A coworker found a 90s "plastic grade" Aiwa turntable in the trash and passed it on to me. It looks as if its in really good condition. I couldn't resist taking a look and inspecting it inside and out. Does it work?
The 7-inch record I'm briefly playing is by my friends Flimmern: www.flimmern.net
The music in the end is a version of Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt suite (I don't know anything about classical music, so I stand to be corrected here).

This was the first turntable I bought when I decided to get into vinyl about 20 years ago. The base model is still around - at least, the case design is - in the form of the Audio Technica LP60: www.whathifi.com/audio-technica/lp60-usb/review For £100 for the USB-equipped version you still can't go far wrong with this as an introductory turntable.

I have the px e850, (inherited from my dad) and the turntable won’t stop spinning? I’m not sure how to fix it .... also the tone arm won’t move to play the first song, it always goes to either the end (if it’s a long song) or on to the second ...

HI Jan, I have just found you here and this was a good video as I have a 90s Aiwa turntable. I am looking to fix a skating/skipping issue that it has and I hope you have a video where you will show how to adjust these things on that turntable. It does not have the same dials as other better record players.
@JanBeta
@JanBeta Год назад
Ah, I didn’t do any additional work on this Aiwa, it worked fine and I gave it to a friend (who I think is still using it to this day). You may be able to find a service manual for your particular one on vinylengine or a similar site. Instructions for setting up anti skate should be in there, if the turntable has a setting for it at all (some of the basic models are just set up from factory and you can’t change the settings manually afterwards unfortunately). Hope that helps!

how do you swap the needle from this turntable? i find it extremely hard to take off ( in fact i couldnt i couldnt )
@JanBeta
@JanBeta 11 месяцев назад
Mh, it should just be clipped in I think. I don't have the turntable anymore so I can't check in person. Usually you can pull the needle assembly off pulling it straight out from the holder, parallel to the arm.

I have one of these turntables myself. I recently after nearly 30 years had to bring down the speed of the 33rpm for similar reason as yourself, now working like new. Not bad for a turntable from the 90s. One thing though, I think the slipmat should be the other way round on the smooth side.
@BuyandSellwithBill

I found this turntable at a thrift store. It plays a little too slow. I changed the belt, that helped some. Still slow. Do you know how to turn the speed up?
@Sheffield_Steve
@Sheffield_Steve 4 года назад
@@BuyandSellwithBill Underneath the turntable, there's two holes near abouts in a corner one marked 33 & the other 45 and they lead up like flathead rubber screw type fitting in a drum where both speeds can be adjusted.
@lewisallcock7400
@lewisallcock7400 2 года назад
@@Sheffield_Steve Can I just check something? Is it the soft rubber screw heads that need to be turned, or do you push through those to reach another harder screwhead underneath them? I have seen the latter suggested online, but want to verify that before giving it a go.
@Sheffield_Steve
@Sheffield_Steve 2 года назад
@@lewisallcock7400 I can refer you to the answer from @THA REAL just take it gently tho, with them being rubber screws but it worked a charm for me. It will speed up a fair bit while you have a screwdriver in & twisting the screw. But you will eventually find your right speed.

@JanBeta
@JanBeta 7 лет назад
+Marcos Roberto de Souza Junior I don't know how to do it exactly but usually you would have to get a strobe disc (downloadable) and a strobe light like a tungsten light and then adjust the speed adjustment screw while it's turning. There are good manuals for that all over the web I guess.

Hello. my turntable goes a little fast. There is two holes marked 33 and the other 45. Can i adjust the speed? In each holes there is a kind of screw to turn. In which direction should i turn them to decrease the speed of the turntable?
@JanBeta
@JanBeta 3 года назад
Usually the screws have little adjustable resistors that control the speed for the 33 and 45 rpm settings, yes. It depends on your turntable which way you have to turn them. You can try to find a manual for your specific turntable or just use a trial and error approach. :)
