Trash Taste Podcast stars Garnt, Connor and Joey aka Gigguk, CDawgVA and The Anime Man sit down for their first ever live Trash Taste Q&A panel at MCM London Comic Con 2022.
The boys tackle classic questions like best girl, manga that needs an anime adaptation, anime that needs another season and whether anime is mid. They also address the pain of being RU-vidrs and the reality of being weebs in Japan. Other topics include Trash Taste lore, awful isekai and the boys favourite nicknames for each other.
Meanwhile… Connor gets hilarious advice for being maidenless, called out by an angry Italian over his pizza smacktalk, admits he’s always salty and politely refuses to give a relationship status with Ironmouse. Gigguk tries to explain the Fate franchise in five words and convince comic con that Meilyn is more cultured than Sydsnap. Joey admits they tried to buy a $10k anime figure and gets uncomfortably close to an unwelcome guest during a very unexpected stage invasion.

yea basically everyone was talking how awesome and great garnt reacted but honestly... it doesn't seem like the guy would have stayed otherwise. they were all professional of coures but the guy basically left on his own after he realised no one would talk to him. as you can see at first joey even said something similar to get up or sth. don't know why garnt gets all the credit when they reacted all very calmly and professional. one guy that was upvoted even said "now we know who is the mature one"... like that doesn't make any sense at all...

If there's no security, or very little, next time I say we band together and be their security. Step in when needed. Nothing violent, of course. If something like this happens again, someone follow the person on stage and try to pull them back off stage. Or, stop the person as they're walking up.

I recall before the thing someone had told Connor they should bring their own security and he didn't think it was necessary but even after this, of course he didn't at the time. It's the job of the convention to already have security and when this happened they look around expecting someone to be there.

As someone who was there the fan could easily have had a knife or some form of weapon. The security checks were abysmal you just had to open your bag security would peak in for half a second not move anything around and you could just go. I was only using the front section of my backpack cause there’s a hole in the main compartment and I wasn’t even asked to open the main compartment the security couldn’t have seen the hole either.

In the trashtaste sub thread on it, someone mentioned the guy had been banned from that con before for harassing cosplayers. The ban stopped when the con changed ownership.

It's disgraceful! This is the biggest con in the UK and they have no security for the main stage! This guy was apparently causing all kinds of disruptions over the weekend, word is he was fined but the damage is done and Joey was left feeling uneasy about the whole event.

@@Dave_of_Mordor Acids like sulfuric and hydrochloric acid have legitimate uses, sulfuric acid can be used as a drain cleaner for example. Usually acid attacks are related to organised crime though.

When you are organizing events like this, organizers should always have security. It doesn't matter if he boys are not A-list celebrities. They are public figure and their lives could have been put at risk by that guy. This is a failure in organizing and I would reject any future invitations from them. Joey handled this particularly well but I think he was terrified deep inside.

The boys managed to handle the situation well by Ignoring the guy, not escalating the situation and continuing the panel without any delays... gotta give credit for the professionalism of the boys most people would freak out physically if put on that situation. I can clearly see the shock, confusion, and fear on the eyes of Garnt and Connor. Feel bad for Joey as well who looked completely stunned after the guy left considering that was his first MCM Con that might ruin the entire experience for him. Hope they can get some real security next time as TRASH TASTE is now a big hit in the anime community.

The boys even said something about this that I wholeheartedly agree with: These conventions know internet celebrities are big, but they don't grasp the fact they're sometimes irl celebrity level of famous. It's easy to grasp...idk Ryan Reynolds needing security, but for the cons they sometimes think 1 mil+ subs equals c-list irl celeb at most. I'm not claiming I know anything, I've never been to a convention in the slightest, so take this with that in mind.

Seeing this and hearing Joey's version are 2 different things. I feel like what Joey said on his 2nd Channel made it seem worse than this makes it appear, but I'm pretty sure that this video is probably just not portraying it as badly as it really was. If I had to guess it's probably because Joey and the boys seemed to handle this exceptionally well and therefore it appears downplayed how nutty the situation actually was.
