Because of this show i’ve completely hot rodded my epiphone SG. It was my first real guitar, but it was honestly a terrible instrument but i made it perfect for what i do with it. I replaced the C shaped mahogany neck with a D shaped maple one that has a much darker fretboard with trapezoid inlays, big gibson shaped headstock, I put hipshot locking tuners on it, i moved the front strap button to the upper horn and used eye hooks instead of standard buttons, i made my own full face pickguard using a new white one and reversed the stock black one and shaved it down to fit, and i put a single EMG 81 in the bridge with one volume knob. The stock wraptail bridge is perfect for sustain and tone and it lives in drop C 100% of the time and feels absolutely perfect. It’s my main workhorse and i intend to gig it to death then hang it up on display when it’s unplayable.
Is adding the EMG's similar to this process in this video. I'm looking at doing something similar with my epi sg because I want to change it up and make it "mine" more or less. I'm just curious to how to install them and the difficulty of the installation. Looking at getting 81/85 Zakk Wylde's.
I'm looking into installing an active EMG ZW pickup set with the electronics and I want to use the Fishman Fluence Rechargeable battery for Les Paul. It replaces the back cover plate on a Les Paul. Will everything fit in that cavity nicely ??? If not, I'll have to go back to removing the back plate to put a new 9 volt battery (that's if there's enough room for a 9V battery). CAN ANYONE HELP ME ???
A few months ago I bought a V off Facebook Marketplace and modded it thanks to you. Repainted it a silverburst finish with Fishman KSE pickups, strap locks, and planet waves auto trim tuners
My favorite EMG set has got to be the 81-85 set, it’s just such a classic pickup set that has a really distinct sound, there’s a reason why so many artists use it in their guitars. I plan on swapping out the pickups in my Firefly LP Elite for some EMG’s hopefully.
Man, that Les reminds me so much of a lovely 1985 Explorer in Alpine white. These videos really are the highlights of my week, keep it up man! 81's are always a favourite for me - just great consistent sound. Had a mate's Jackson with bone breakers on loan for a month a bit ago, absolutely loved those as well!
I love EMG's, been playing primarily EMG's for 20 years now. The 81 will always be iconic in the bridge, but Im really loving the Jim Root Daemonum set. They have a really cool gritty aggression to them.
As a bass player, I have several basses with EMG pickups in them. My favorite is gonna be the EMG 35DCX. You probably didn't see that one coming, did ya'? 😉😎
What a gorgeous fucking workhorse of a guitar. Those old studios with the ebony boards are absolutely killer. I was watching one very similar to that on reverb but someone snagged before I could.
My first EMGs were 81/60 and I loved them! It's what I had for many years. But I got a Snakebyte and the "Het set" knocked me out. It's really a well balanced sound.
My favorite set of emgs is the HET set. I love the tone you can get. its kind of a mix of passive and active. Just an awesome set of humbuckers to go on any explorer or les paul or v
Great job, I've watched all your episodes for the past 8 days, LOVE your channel. As for the EMG pickups, I love 57 and 66 set, or 85 in the bridge and 89 in the neck.
My favorite set of EMGs is the MF set, they sound really awesome and they are aesthetically pleasing, also Marty Friedman is one of my favorite shredders, can't go wrong with his art. By the way, that Les Paul looks killer!!!!
The first real Gibson Les Paul I ever played was an all white 1994 studio with a headstock repair and beat to hell with white EMGs in it my cousin owned back when I was first learning about two years ago he decided that It was time to downsize and I got the chance to own it it has SD JB jazz combo with a phase reversal toggle switch between the volume and tone pots and although it will soon need new frets I’ve never played a better feeling LP even after all these years it’s beaten and ugly but it’s ebony fingerboard has been played to the point of looking like it’s got a high gloss finish on it and feeling like glass it’s my #1 for D standard
Clocked Maximum Carnage in the background. My favourite Super Nintendo game. Man the amount of times I died from those long hair whipping girls. I had SNES on xmas day 1995 it was snowing too. Sold my snes and 40+ games few years back and now have them all downloaded on my android phone to play whenever and wherever :).
For my cherry SG satin I have a set of TWs, I like how the EMG logo matches the guitar… but… the 81/60 set is my favorite. Love the contrast of tone between the alnico neck and the nihilistic ceramic bridge.
My favorite EMG set is the 81/60. The 81 has such a powerful, punchy tone as a bridge pickup; and the 60 has a very crisp clear tone that is perfect for cleans and leads.
Hey Mark, I hope all is well, this was an awesome episode, I love EMG pickups mainly because of Zakk Wylde and Alexi Laiho among others of course and I thought what you did to that Les Paul was pretty awesome looking forward to next week's episode as usual, stay safe stay happy stay well and rock on my friend. I also thought the video game stuff was very cool as well. \m/
I’ve used EMG my entire carrier. 80-81 when the 80s were easier to find, H-81, Het Set Black Chromes and most recently 607H-817H in a 7 String Explorer!
Great show you got going here bro 🤘 i love just a single EMG 81 in the bridge. I tried a few of the Het set and they are hit and miss as with some of the newer 81 & 85 models. Keep up the great work champion
I, unfortunately, don't have any guitars with EMG's but I love the Jim Root EMG's but I'm also a sucker for the EMG 81 EMG 60 combo I just love the sound of and justice for all its just so awesome and aggressive and I love that
Been a fan from the start. I’ve modded my Ibanez gax75 with an Emg 81/85 set and a set of Gotoh locking tuners. Also about to upgrade my Rg with a new Gotoh trem.
For guitar I'd pick an EMG 81-60 set But since I am a bass player, I will list those as well. I have a stock Jackson CBXNTIV(2016) which will eventually get a EMG 35P4 and a 35JCS along with an Aguilar OBP-3TK/PP. I also have an old Jackson (MIJ) Concert EX which will eventually get the EMG Geezer Butler PJ set.
hey , my favorite EMG set is the revelation , it sounds so good ! and passive emg is not commun ! And the J set for jazz bass ! Keep rockin dude ! love your show as a guitar mod freak myself your videos are like a candy shop to me !🤘
Emg 81/60 is my favorite emg set. I put a set of cream colored in a fender Strat. Single volume and a les Paul switch. No tone! It chugs hard and people can’t believe it’s a fender.
You do amazing work .... What do you charge for a pickup swap-out along with all hardware replacement if I supply all parts? Im looking to turn a no-name into something special
Man I had so much game items. I could have had deals with ya. …from dream cast to super nen. To n64 the og xbox. PlayStation 1,2,3,4. PSP. To retro Atari. The sad news it was all stolen from a x. All I have now is PlayStation. Vita.
i bought a glenn tipton set the other day, still working on installing, but i can't figure what i'm doing wrong. maybe the input jack, maybe my 8th grade solder technique for the 3way, who knows. and tecmo super bowl for life on the nes.
Have a little bit of guitar finishing experience and you're inspiring me to attempt a swirl finish on an Korean Ibanez S series that's a boring, plain black factory finish...... Any tips on Swirling / Hydro dipping do's and don'ts? Plan on using Magic Marble paints in Silver, White, and Black for the swirl colors.
