I'd like to request/suggest a video from you about Imagine Dragons. Lots of people seem to lose their minds over Imagine Dragons being successful. They seem like pretty typical mainstream rock music to me, without the dude-bro image some Nickelback songs try to portray.
I remember back in 2014, I went to a concert that had Korn and Slipknot with King810 as the opener. When the promoter mentioned that King810 couldn't make it past the border, I'd never been so happy in my life. Not just cause they suck, but having a concert of literally just Korn and Slipknot playing extended sets to use up the time gap was incredible
I'd love to see a video highlighting the "actually good metalcore" bands. It would be cool to show the great stuff so people can avoid the generic stuff
if ya want something solid and modern hop on the new ERRA album. has a lot of ridiculously strong hooks and the guitarwork is some of the craziest ive heard in the genre in like, 4-5 years

You forgot FFDP. Some of these bands in this list know their reputation as "trashcore" and they are fine with that. But FFDP actually seem to take themselves really seriously which makes them the ultimate worst thrash(core)band today.
I don't mind the early 2010's FFDP material, but current FFDP is very decent if you ask me, around from 2016 they've wrote very decent and relatable lyrics, not to mention they got Andy James in the band now.
I’m a fan of FFDP and have been for a long time and still listen to them to this day. But I will point out that Ivan Moody is a TERRIBLE PERSON in real life outside of the band itself. Why? For example: Multiple arrests for assault and battery, multiple accounts of domestic violence towards his family to the point where his own mother had to file a restraining order because of him accusing his mother, sister and daughter of stealing money, etc etc.
I’m curious as to why you can’t stand Finn? I’m not looking to start a holy war, I’m genuinely curious. In spite of some comments he’s made that we’re teeth-grindingly annoying, I like the guy.
@@ctilson176 To me he just seems like "controversy-bait", especially with some comments on some acts (or lack of those, he worships the ground Fronz walks on and as far as I know never addressed any allegations against Atilla). Also personally I don't like his content, stuff that didn't annoyed me I just found mostly boring and charmless. Nothing against people who like his content, but he and BecomeTheKnight are 2 "metal youtubers" who I just don't like
I have to give FIR and Radke credit where it's due. He seems to GENUINELY want to make up for his antics and put his bullshit behind him. Which I respect and genuinely love, because even at his worst he was still able to really cause some seismic shifts in the scene. So hopefully good guy radke is not an act, or takes away from his ability to create and cause some waves. I want it to be genuine and see him STILL bring the passion and talent he has every time he creates.
Yes thank you I was going to say this myself. I think when he’s actually in a good mental health headspace he’s a genuine guy who actually wants to be a good person. Even he hates his past actions and is trying to move on from it. I guess maybe I can just relate. Hopefully it sticks because his writing along with his work with the band is only getting better.
The absolute saddest part of all of this is that none of these 4 bands mentioned are the absolute worst trashcore bands by a long shot (well…King 810 is way down there though). Stuff like Gift Giver, Yüth Forever, I Declare War, Lotus Eater, and Reformers came in around that early to mid 2010s era when Trashcore was at its peak in popularity and further stunk up the scene with even more vulgar, offensive, and sickening lyrics or in Reformers case when they were around, being MAGA before MAGA became a thing. Thankfully these bands are losing their following and/or breaking up and we can finally move past this foul stench that Trashcore left in the scene.
Considering how actually little of those bands are out there and how much most of them either fell off hard or leaving "trashcore", I don't see "trashcore" as that much of a problem tbh. In mid 2010's- definitely, but now most of them are hasbeens
You know, Emmure at points is a major guilty pleasure because when they get to levels of ridiculous chug heaviness, I can't help but head bang. Also, please check out Josh Travis, their guitarist's old bands like The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, and Glass Cloud, he is one talented dude.
using tdwp, abr, northlane and bfmv images while talking about stock band sound in the metalcore genre just shows your lack of knowledge and preparation. Each of those bands has very unique sound, and they basically play in different styles.
I'm not a fan of any of those bands anymore for a long time now, but every now and then (TDWP, ABR, Northlane), I check their new songs to see what's up. TDWP in a lot of their albums, have a distinct sound, of course their early albums were too trendy and scene which were understandable for their times. But they matured and explored different concepts and signature sounds, there were certain periods that I don't really like what they're trying to sound but I can appreciate it, considering the current direction and state with each era of metalcore, their latest album, a sequel to their Zombie EP was good, it made me listen to them again somehow. I guess "Rocked" doesn't really know what he's talking about and not utterly in depth with the other subgenres and cultures correlating to the discussion. Honestly, the way he narrates through out the video seems like the morning/evening news report/program or cable TV shows, he got a perspective of a person that's outside looking in as if he's a staff of Dr. Phil with a camp hat and binoculars, trying to attempt a deep dive into a specific culture/genre and just threw in some surface level assumptions without even studying the said topic, without even a mindful observation, his material and grounds were hastily researched and relayed. To be fair, his channel is named "Rocked", not metal, not alternative, not progressive, not djent, not whatever, so he's basically dipping his toes into the water and not diving in. He can be opinionated, it's a free real-estate, nothing wrong with that. But we should keep in mind that his words and takes are of no merit and credibility, since he doesn't have a fairly broad comprehension and knowledge of the genres. I usually watch Punk Rock MBA or Fin McKinley for these matters, because it's obvious that he knows and lives the majority that he talks about.
The fact that this and the Imagine Dragons BS were what was charting in terms of rock music, shows that rock music was in a terrible state in the 2010s, and while now, it's starting to pick up again, it still has yet to really get kicked into high gear and return to scene dominance.
Yes rock is starting to make a comeback but only in the weakest way possible. Labels are signing Tik Tok kids and social media stars who are producing programmed guitar driven music in their bedroom. And then they throw in Travis Barker to give it added production and drummer work and calling it "rock." They're not signing actual bands who have musical chops and skills who write their own material.
Yes there is that Italian band Maneskin who won Eurovision and have that song Beggin' which is currently a hit (and also a Frankie Valli cover.) But once again, only because it randomly went viral on TikTok. They're going to get forgotten about by the end of this year. For rock to be mainstream again, we need actual bands to be superstars who score hit songs every year. Not bands like this that have actually been turned into jokes/memes.
I don't know about dominance, those days might be gone for good. I'll settle for good bands getting the fanbases they deserve and the ID/Trashcore stuff being disposed of.
I checked out of metalcore when bands started changing their sounds to butt rock and djent with clean vocals. Maybe I'm just old and jaded, but things were better when everybody was ripping off At The Gates and In Flames riffs and adding breakdowns.
@User stopping the use of "butt rock" as a derogatory term plainly used to describe bands you don't like? That's fair, and I agree with that. But Butt Rock does have an actual meaning, at least to me. Butt rock to me just means Post-Grunge and some flavors of Nu Metal with a watered down sound, clear desire for mainstream success and Hunger Dunger Dang/"Look mom! I'm trying desperately to be Kurt Cobain" vocals. That said, despite how harsh I could potentially come off as, it's not like all Butt Rock is bad. This formula CAN work.

@@joshguy5221 That's true, there are also people out there who like Emmure, Falling in Reverse, Attila and other bands like them but that's only because regardless of how you may feel about something, there's going to be an audience who likes the thing you criticize. The important thing to recognize is that videos like this though are not for those people, it's there to criticize and commentate on the bands and nothing more. It doesn't matter if people like it or not, that shouldn't play a factor in if something should be criticized or not.
Yeah King have also dropped legit good music over the years. I may not agree with them politically (David made a confusing ass statement on IG about being at the capitol incident) but their first 2 albums are highlights.

Maybe he is failing to do that hear due to some bias, but that does not mean he is "trying to be edgy". In fact, the main criticism is that those artists are just trying to be edgy. This is a knee jerk reaction because you obviously didn't like what he said. This dude is a professional concert photographer who has been in the biz for many years. He knows his stuff. If his argument here is bad then criticize the argument. What you are doing is assuming the motive for the video, and discounting the person based on that. There can be no meaningful discussion that way. Btw, all I suggested was a debate collab so we could hear both sides. I see nothing wrong with that. It would be interesting to see them both take in the other's perspective, and perhaps come to an understanding (Finn himself has even stated that the lyrics in their older material is pure cringe, but that they have improved on that front in recent years). Our guy here is just tired of the tough guy posing. That is understandable. Lets not pretend there isn't a ton of that "I'm so tough" crap in much of hardcore. Crash Thompson is even more critical of these bands, to be honest. People are allowed to have different perspectives. Finn, hates BABYMETAL, which I like a lot, but I don't discount his arguments because I don't like them.
I have sort of a love/hate relationship with metalcore and deathcore. It can be really good, a lot of it can be generic and others being reprehensible (as shown in this video) But I've come across so many fans that want nothing but screaming and heavy riffs. Every defense they give for these trashcore bands is the same, "but it's so heavy!". I'm not saying every metalcore fan is like this, but the toxic, immature "it's so heavy" fans are the reason these generic and trashcore bands are still around. Metalcore and deathcore deserve better.

I don't even think you need to play more than 2 notes to have a dope song. Especially in metal. Nobody complains about Meshuggah when they do it - probably because people can sense a creative vision and soul behind it. But yeah some bands just feel like theyre trying to hit the quota of things that a metal core song can have.
Some good modern metalcore bands would include: While She Sleeps, Northlane, Erra, Code Orange, and Adept. The genre is full of bands with talent and creativity, it's just the immature edgelords like the bands in this video that ruin the genre for many people.
There's nothing wrong with having shocking lyrics; You just have to have the talent to make it work. These bands aren't dogshit because they have edgy lyrics, they're shitty because they're shitty with edgy lyrics.

The first time I heard the term “trashcore” was on the Norma Jean “Oh God, the Aftermath” DVD. Corey called their music trashcore. “We write music, then throw it in the trash. Then we realize we can’t write anything better, so we dig it out of the trash and play it.” That would have been in 2005.
So would you say it was like with Disco and Hair Metal: great music all around, but companies figured out they could produce it en mads to rake in the dollars...and flooding the market is one hit wonders and forgetable acts to its detriment.

He was also in the Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, a very technical mathcore band. From TDTE and Glass Cloud to Emmure. That's the biggest downgrade in music history.

My old music teacher from when I was 15 and his band actually had the misfortune of recording in the same studio as Ronnie Radke, and in his own words, he confirmed: He's a douche. I'm really not the biggest metalcore fan out there, and truth be told I get really sick of listening to it after like 3 songs, even if they're from 3 different bands with actual talent. I have to consume it in extreme moderation because the genre is so hit or miss. And trashcore has undoubtedly fanned those flames. It's everything negative about bad modern music epitomized. The only trashcore band I ever I dabbled in was Emmure, but that was right after high school when I was still kind of finding my footing with what I enjoyed in heavier music. And it was also before I knew about how much of an assclown their frontman was (and is).
You should do a video on ad rock; bands and artists who make music who's only purpose is to be on commercials & movie trailers. Think Imagine Dragons, Coldplay & Purity ring.

Regarding King 810. Right when the band was starting to take off back in 2017 they were announced for a UK festival called Bloodstock and secured a place on the main stage I tried to get into their music but couldn't but thankfully the New Blood Stage (a stage for unsigned bands that earn the right to play through a nationwide Battle of the Bands called Metal 2 The Masses) had a little band called Raised By Owls on and I watched them instead. Moral of the story: don't listen to King 810, listen to Raised By Owls, their brand of comedic grindcore is hilarious (and they make funny regular videos as well).
We need more of that raw metalcore - oriented music that Converge, Coalesce, Botch, and The Dillinger Escape Plan bought to the table (I know these four bands are more on the mathcore side, but they had a sound that was adjacent to the genre, as a whole) rather than Trashcore or that generic, Octane trash that is getting played out, nowadays, from bands you would hear on Sirius XM. Luckily, Vein.fm, Chamber, Graphic Nature, Cel Damage, Jesus Piece, etc. have that flair.
Yeah even I have to admit that Popular Monster is Falling In Reverse’s best work yet. If there was my own list on good songs by bad bands that would be one of them.

What sucks the most is Josh Travis of Emmure is one of the most talented musicians I’ve personally met in my entire life. He’s from St. Louis, played with bands around town on guitar and drums (New Empire, was in Calico System for like a week). He’s pretty much a master of both. Sad to see his talent wasted.

We Came as Romans is currently my favourite band who I listen to, but I don't hear too many people talk about them. In my opinion they make amazing music (although I don't recommend their self tilted album 'We Came as Romans 2015') On another note, I agree with a lot of points you've made in this video and I enjoyed hearing and listening to what you were saying
King 810 hits a chord with folks that grew up rough. I've watched friends and girlfiends go in the ground over drugs, in prison, get stabbed, shot, etc. They resonate with how I came up. The musical part isn't the best. But the lyrics speak to me.
I disagree with King 810s politics… but their music hits deep. A couple years ago I got beaten and robbed,almost died. There was a period where I was too afraid to leave my house. Then I discovered King 810,and in a counter intuitive way,their brutal lyrics helped me find my strength again. I got the logo tattooed on my forearm,I owe them a lot

I think crown the Empire also fit in this topic. After Vogel left, retrograde was just mainstream and their newer stuff lacks the identity they had on rotr. Even though I like the new song, it lacks the riff technicallity of Vogel, the screams of Dave, and the overall "surprise" .
The funny thing is, right as the switch in chapters happened from King 810 to Falling in Reverse; the add that came for it was the music video for Falling in Reverse's "Zombified'.

I have met both Emmure and Attila on tour. I even got to be on stage during Attila’s sold out headlining set. You might call them trash but both Frankie Palmieri and Chris or Fronz are two of the nicest singers I have ever gotten to talk to. Trashcore isn’t about the music. It is just about good breakdowns and having a hell of a fun time in the mosh pit. \m/ Both sets from each band were incredible! Please don’t hate on what some people like *no offense*. I am almost 36 years old and still listen to trashcore bands daily because I absolutely LOVE it!
I met Fronz as well around the time about that life dropped and yeah, he’s nice as hell. Honestly, everyone in the band was really cool and they were chill enough that so many people were hopping on the stage and diving into the crowd. That was a really hype show.
The only band I’ll defend on the list of Trashcore bands you named is King810. There from Flint Michigan which everyone knows is quite the shit hole, & the lead singer & the band have been vocal on the insane things they’ve seen & express it through there music. I will admit there music can be over the top but they do have songs that are slowed down & tell a story of the tragic things they’ve seen. La Petite Mort or a Conversation With God is an album by them I recommend if you want a less in your face type record.

"trashcore" is the most mind boggling thing I've heard in a while, this video is if you narrated over a 2011 Emmure hate comment on one of their music videos, the problem with channels like yours is that you shit on artists without checking out most of their work, you say the same "0000-0000-0000" comment that's been overused a billion times, in fact all the members are extremely talented, especially nowadays with their new lineup. Instead of shitting on artists and genres you dislike by calling them "talentless" and saying what you like and dislike about it. I've meet Frankie and he was a very charismatic person, he doesn't play the whole "tough guy" persona and hes a really down to earth dude. Instead of making shitty content on things that have already been said thousands of times, instead maybe talk with the artists involved. If you see the work put out by Josh Miller and Josh Travis you can see that they are talented musicans, especially with bands like Glass Cloud, Darko US and Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza on being solid bands. You clearly didn't put a lot of thought into this video, and you should consider either talking or at least giving the artists credit because you're just coming out as an asshole on camera. I don't mean this as hate towards you, rather criticism just so maybe you can improve your content.
Hey Luke, I'm what you might call a music casual, and when I watch your video and you put up the image of a band, I've no idea who they are. Would it be possible to start including the band's name incorporated in the overlay? They're not exactly Trashcore but they're trash but Otep would've definitely been perfect on the list. Not to mention, they have more listeners than Shadow of Intent and Silent Planet combined which are two bands that are WAY better and unique than that trash. Let that sink in.

i feel like Trashcore bands want to do what GG Allin did, but they don't go all the way because they want to be at least a little bit marketable... not that what GG Allin did was cool or anything, that man was nasty... but edgy people like this think what GG Allin did was so cool. but shitting on stage isn't artistic... it's just gross...
Eh I am not going to trash Ronnie and FIR! I think he has done things we all have done or been through. He held a grudge, I have done that as well. Ronnie has really grown in the last few years, and i think FIR has changed the game and they don't let me down. Ronnie is a hell of a musician and his lyrics have a lot more depth than you think. Other than a producer no one is involved with the writing of his music, but him. No ghost writer and all of that shit! ATTILA has really died off for me and I can barely listen to them anymore... Just can't say the same for FIR.
Actually, thrashcore originally was applied for extreme end of hardcore punk, extremely fast bands like early DRI, Siege, Cryptic Slaughter (early stuff) etc... But, yeah I hear you.
