I cant stop watching this mower rescue. Its like waiting for the next episode of a TV series lol. I hope when you get it going and take it out on the lawn you look right in the camera and say "Runs like a Deere"😂👍
My late step-father Keith used to work on John Deere tractors here in England back when he was a teen, totally in his element, learning how things worked & finding out tricks along the way, along with working on his old Triumph Tiger Cub. Happy memories and stories.
Auto zone is a great place Ampang repair. CRC electric contact cleaner, barrel fuses from 1/2 Amp to 50 Amp solderless terminals. Also all kinds of replacement speakers and sub speakers Plus all kinds of wire spools any Amp repair can use up! Love you brother and have a blessed day!! Happy trails everybody!!! Slime for bicycle tubes works for cars to!!!
Hi Brad - glad that you listened and shimmed the starter. I have rebuilt many automotive starters in my day as I grew up working in our family's auto repair business and have had to use shims very often to get the starters properly aligned. Make sure when you install your new drive belts that you use a little Vaseline (petroleum jelly) on the sides of the belt where they ride in the pulleys. This will help the belts last longer and actually help the belts grip the pulleys better. (yes, you would think that the Vaseline would allow slippage but it actually helps the belt grip the pulleys). Do not slop it on, just apply a dollop to each side of the belt and as it runs through the pulleys it will get spread evenly and will properly "dress" the belts.
As a restoration hobbist of all tractors. Great when someone shows an interest in bringing a curbed mower back to life for years of more use. Thanks enjoy the series
Imagine the set of circumstances when the wheel fell off the tractor in the first place, and to think it’s actually going to live another day to cut some grass. Beautiful series. In a world where everyone is consumed by what we are consuming, the more things you can save the less waste there is out there. Thanks Brad.
If you already have Ryobi battery tools, grab their battery impact gun. Big surprise how good it works for the money. On top of this stuff, works great for lug nuts. Hate that your bolts broke. The older I get the better I get at spraying penetrating liquid and waiting. Still breaking bolts, but less than when I was younger haha. Really appreciate this series of videos. Learning a lot with you!
@@Fixologist1 Yeehah. Hey Brad, we have a new addition to our family today, he is a 9 week old kitten called Buzz, not sure if we can fix him.......help!?
So weird, after starting to watch these ride on lawn mower videos and liking them, I saw a yellow lawn mower, same style as this left on a street corner just near my house yesterday. I had never seen that before. Not sure what brand it is. I am not going to do what you did but if i did, these videos would really come in handy! Very informative anyway and can be applied in other repair situations.Your fuckups are funny too!. I still really don't know how amps work, but I have watched many of your vids as a soothing "come down" from partying or just as a calming meditation, and I see that if i was good at soldering I could probably do many repairs myself from what I have learned watching your vids. I just love tube amps so even though it might seem boring, my guitar nerd enthusiasm often keeps me watching your amp vids til the end! There is a hot chick that repairs amps on youtube and i was fearful that i'd switch to her for obvious reasons but her vids are boring and sterile compared to yours...i couldnt gel with it at all.
Brad I wanted to share; one time i picked up an electric blower poulan weed eater. Looked new didnt work. I took it apart and the switch was a single throw double pole. The poles it was wired to contact was bad. I pulled the wires and put them on the other set of poles on the switch and worked like new.
im surprised you got the spindle pulley and blade off with just a hammer. most of the time you need an impact. also, every time you are gonna take the spindles off an old mower, the bolts WILL break. it never fails. im just glad those bolts dont thread into the spindle itself. on most new mowers, they do. the shaft can be pressed out of most spindles, but it may need a hydraulic press. sometimes you can hammer them out, but always put the nut back on the threaded shaft if youre gonna hit it with a hammer or use a puller, etc.
Good stuff! My old late 80s rx95 just threw the blade belt off. Runs great, but the blade does not turn and noticed the belt is off the front/side pully. I'm not the most mechanically inclined, but by the looks of it, threading a new belt along the pulleys seems to be fairly doable? Do you have to drop the deck town to access it, or can you do it with it still attached? Thanks!
You can do it with the deck on. No need to drop it down. You might have to move the belt retaining brackets slightly to get it on there, and put the belt retainers back in place so it doesn't come off again. There's some diagrams on how all that works at the link in the description.
Hey Brad, I can't believe that I've followed your frigging channels now for at least 7 years (been banned a couple of times with other accounts but who cares?).... let me go please. Respect from England.
Always make sure you are wearing a glove when pulling stuff out and working in there bud. Save a knuckle. Also, get a mower lift at HF, makes all this work a breeze. I also have a 8ft chunk of carpet on the ground to drop the deck on, then drag it out without scraping up deck. I would dust off the paint/rusty areas down there with an orbital sander and shoot some paint on. Another thing, use an air impact gun to take that big spindle nut off, work smarter, not harder. Never bang on the threaded shaft like that, just WD-40 and pull the pulley off. I would never subscribe to this.
