Awesome videos - I have a John deere d105 with the welded on bracket vs the adjustable one that has two bolts you can loosen and tighten the belt. Have you figured out belt tension can be adjusted on this machine? Using jd belt exact part and the belt is very loose even when engaged - everything seems to be spinning freely with no pully or spindle issues. Have seen tons of this same problem but haven’t found a solution? Belts just won’t last as they get torn up from being too loose……LOVE the mower other than this!

Purchased this to replace a guide pulley ru-vid.comUgkxO9seYZjlnuP5UvMkb7osQW3WxPVeSnPk on our John Deere x304 snowblower. As I stated in the title, it is just about perfect. The stock pulley has a spacer at the bottom. I used four washers to emulate said spacer, and it works perfectly now. Great product, and great price especially if compared to typical JD prices.

So I’ve owed a 42” John Deere for years and the way you replaced the drive belt is exactly the way I’ve done it for years. This is the perfect video on how to do it the right way. In many videos I’ve watched they seem to avoid removing the mower deck which takes all of 5 minutes. Sure makes this job a lot easier.

Your channel is just simply awesome! I’ve got to do this to my Husqvarna riding mower this weekend. Come to find out those sealed bearings from the factor in the spindle last a grand total of 74 hours. From your channel and others I’ve learned to to make it so that never happens again. At least not from a lack of grease. This thing basically exploded out the bottom. I heard a change in sound as I was mowing but because of the high grass I was in I thought it had just caked on and would clear in a turn or two. It was NOT grass, it was a part entirely engineered to fail! There are no zerk fittings, even if it had one the bearings are sealed! Shady af if you ask me. Anyway thank you so much for your awesome videos! Your three goals have been achieved! Deep gratitude from this guy

I love that you identify what tools, including sizes, you are using. The more of your videos I watch the more I like your presentation/explanation of each step. I changed my belt two years ago and it took me forever to get the new belt on correctly. You made it look so simple. I'm getting ready to replace my deck blades...😕 One thing I always check whenever I remove my deck is to make sure its level when I put it back on. It's a simple adjustment and only takes a couple minutes. I also grease the fittings.

I have used many of the major brands over the years and depending on what type of job you need them for they all have their strong and weeks points. Personally I have found that what works best for my needs is a Stiga all wheel drive with the deck in front instead of under the machine, e.g. the Park Pro series. This allows you to easily get into corners, between bushes and shrubs etc. and allows for super easy access to the deck whether it is for cleaning, servicing, sharpening blades, or whatever. They are a bit pricey but have outlived anything else I have tried and should be worth the investment in the long run.

When the deck belt gets stretched on the older John Deere’s, you can loosen the 2 bolts on the PTO cable bracket and slide the bracket back about 1/4 inch and tighten the belt. I know you cannot do it on some of the E models as the bracket is welded to the deck

Boy! I wish I had watched your JD Deck video years ago. Not only would it have saved me money but a lot of time. No sending it out to the shop to change blades, belts and grease. GREAT VIDEO !!!

lol, glad i found your video. up until now all i could find were guys showing me how to change the stupid belt. never occurred to me the pulleys were seized from fabric, and just being worn out after a decade of use. cheers to you, now for the fun part........

I like your detailed instruction and play by play on the john deer. When people ask me which mower to buy i tell them the simplicity line of lawn and garden tractors have a 40-50 year history of making mowing equipment. The welded mower decks are far better than the stamped out sheet metal varietys. But most people dont know because Simplicity is not sold in box stores. Repair folks rarely see them.

Thank you! I got my deck off okay but wasn't sure how to put it back on. Your video made it possible for me to get it back on. 😊

After watching this video I am tempted to drop my brand new JD deere deck just for fun. This is my 3rd Deere. Very familiar with this machine. You do such a great job teaching the new-bees.

Excellent video with detailed instructions. I've watched other videos that weren't anywhere as good as this. I bought a JD E120 lawn tractor about 4 years ago and haven't had an issue with the deck. I also clean my tractor and mower deck after each use. I cringed when I saw how filthy the deck was in this video. When the time comes for deck maintenance, I will refer to this video. I've also converted the EZ oil change feature to the conventional oil and filter change which saves a ton when doing that maintenance.

What a great video, thanks! I've done all this before but I just duplicated what I saw when putting it back together, you explained it so well and I have a much better understanding of how the deck works after watching this, thanks again!

Well now that was a interesting and informative video I can't believe how backed up you are with machines. If someone brings a lawn mower in to you today they probably better have a backup mower or their grass is going to be so tall that they'll need more than a lawn mower to cut it by the time they get it back.

Dear Sensei Chickanic: I bow to your excellently clear filming, editing, and explanations. My mower is a Ferris Z series, but, there is enough similarity to be a real help. Thank you. If you were in S.E Tennessee, I’d come by just to bring you a coffee and a homemade pulled pork sandwich - just to help keep you “revved up”, so you can keep making these GREAT VIDEOS!
