i had this happen to me (what happened to the first dude, sandy), the pain is unbearable as the air leaving your punctured lung is filling your body and pushing all of your organs into your ribcage. if it wasn't for the air ambulance and staff i'd be dead today and every year i raise money for the air ambulances who saved my life. god bless these absolute miracle workers!!

it does, it's called pneumothorax. when there is a hole in the lung the air has nowhere to go but be trapped inside your body and it pushes your organs into your ribcage. just because they didn't explain that here doesn't mean it doesn't match the case. the knife in his case was under the armpit under the left arm, mine was under my armpit under my right arm

We saw this done at the roadside in the middle of Sydney's CBD at 1am. It started with cpr and the patient was fitting. He had gone right under a bus and the Fireies had airbags under it within minutes. There must have been 50 people watching and lots had mobile phone torches on. They worked frantically for 20 minutes and the resus was brutal. Finally his vital signs stabilised. Both paramedics were in the back for the trip to hospital. A policement drove the ambulance. When the trolley went into the ambulance a great cheer went up and some people were weeping. It was one of the most dramatic interventions I have seen and I was in the military. These people are not paid enough. But thats changing fortunately.

I remember when I worked in a NICU, as an RN,over 30 years ago. We all got used to responding to arrests, giving medications & CPR, & watching as the baby was “..was brought back to life.” I remember the first time a Baby didn’t “ respond” to our ministrations & died. I thought I had done everything “right”. I cried until one of the Docs just said, “ You didn’t do anything wrong. Our Patients die in spite of doing everything correctly.” I realized suddenly that Life & Death Wasn’t in our Control. That Realty brought me comfort.Knowing this brought faith & Love for God & my Savior, Jesus Christ.

The calm competence of the NHS Emergency Room workers is amazing. Calm self-assurance can be the difference between life and death, and it is amazing to watch these professional care-givers perform at the top of their game. While I usually think of medical care as science, these folks here elevate it to the level of art; they offer a human touch that transcends the mere knowledge upon which the tasks they perform are based.

@CatMurray
@CatMurray 3 года назад
Disagree about US trauma. We are a well oiled machine and everyone has a role and our results speak for themselves. No we don’t stay and play at a scene, but scoop and run so we are triaging and treating. And a great deal of trauma patients are charity cases if they don’t have insurance. My hospital in Georgia, USA has the largest burn unit in the world and we treat patients from all over the world and our survival rate is unrivaled. This is all due to the physicians and nurses who scramble in a well choreographed dance of life saving care.
@CatMurray
@CatMurray 3 года назад
@Therese Davis Physicians and nurses are not considering cost when a trauma comes in. We rip through the same supplies, meds, fluids, etc, as we have no idea what the patient can or cannot pay. My hospital writes off millions of dollars of care every year. How that happens in the corporate world probably has some great tax benefits, but as long as people are getting care, it is a win-win. Our system is far from perfect and my own out of pocket costs for insurance can be up to $12k for a family of 4. But as a nurse, I make $93-100k a year depending on the amount of time I work and with my health care spending account I can pay for some of my deductible with pre-tax dollars. I worked hard for my degree and so did my husband (aerospace engineer with 12 years in the Air Force as a pilot) and we know we are blessed and live in a blessed country. Merry Christmas.

@LissaSun
@LissaSun 7 лет назад
Lupus is where the body's immune system mistakes normal parts of the body as foreign invaders and attacks them. Breaking down the body parts causes molecules to be released that are too large for the body to remove and so scar tissue forms over them which interferes with organs working correctly. An attack on a body part is called a flare and fever, sore joints, and extreme tiredness occur during a flare. Plaquenil limits the number of flares which are treated with steroids and chemo. Exposure to sunlight increases the number of flares. The skins, lungs, and kidneys are common targets of lupus but any Part of the body can be attacked. Because I didn't get insurance till expanded Medicaid it has done major damage to my lungs, and second stage kidney failure, and one knee no longer bends. Minor damage to c4 and 5 on my back, skin, and other knee. There is no cure and while hereditary plays a part as of now the cause is unknown.

I absolutely love the way they treat their patients. Such kindness is important to recovery. I’ve had 4 traumatic brain injuries and the last one changed me. I can no longer work and struggle to live the life I had before. Short term memory is the worst. Almost burned my home down 3 times bevy I forgot I had something on the stove. I use to make weddings gowns, fill length costs etc. now I struggle just to make a basic piece of garment. I can totally understand where the man is that fell through the roof. I too struggled with severe migraines because of it. 13 yrs later I’ve released to do a lot but still struggle with a full recovery. I owe my recovery to my Drs and my faith in God. We can heal and be close to where we were before. Sadly some family members can’t understand… it’s an injury that can not be seen like a broken leg, some just can’t understand… I’m so thankful that it wasn’t words. The man was never caught… he not only changed me personally but he robbed me from my family… I can only be thankful things weren’t worse.

The cut on the women's head that was hit by a motor bike was SO DEEP. Was so happy she didnt have a fractured skull or brain injury. Thought it was going to be super serious. Hope she recovered as well as she could and didn't have too many problems with that badly broken leg !!

After watching a lot of these kind of episodes (and as a person that happens to take multi medications with a few other issues) I am now looking into getting a 🏥Medical Bracelet (they also have necklaces and keychains🏩 now as well😊. I didn't know. Also some insurances actually will reimburse them too😊)... I think it would be a grand idea as seeing sooo many people that are in "unable to talk situations" or the docs puttin people in sleepmode to save their life. That medical info is so deadly important to know, really life or death. Quite scary actually if you think about it. Something to think about for you peeps out there that have ailments that are affecting your life too

MizzzKitty did you know there is another way off alerting paramedics to what medication your on is called Message In A Bottle, it available from many chemists, if you can't find one contact your local Lions Club, you fill it in with the medication your taking and put it in your fridge, if your taken ill at home and can't communicate then the paramedics will look in the fridge automatically, Medic alert is great if your out..

Retired nurse here, yup, I wear a medical bracelet with medication info and it has a number on the back that will immediately connect to my medical records and physical conditions online for ambulance. As I have a TBI w/seizures and a few other issues related. They can be life saving! ❤ I also have a complete medication list card with my primary physician in Neurologist numbers in my wallet and on the front of my fridgerator in plain sight. My husband as well.

I went to London for a summer doing study abroad and the program that I went through had a former London police officer come in and give us all safety tips about living in London. Some of the other students were from small midwestern towns and weren't used to cities with millions of people. One of the things he told us was to watch out for stabbings.

Knife crime in the UK has become even more prevalent since this programme was made, and the death rate from it has now astronomical, and yet the powers that be have still not done anything to correct the fundamental issues that virtually encourage individuals to carry knives. Even one death from knife crime or the culture of carrying them is one to many, just as it is for gun crime, or any other form of assault with, or without a weapon.

Dj Phantom That is the cause of the Judicairy and Govermant, if they made it mandatory 12 years with no parole for a minor stabbing to life with no parole for a fatatily, also, 12 months without parole for carrying a knife, it might start to be an effective detterent.

So the NHS is an absolute god send. We don't realise how truly lucky we are to have this system in place. I've had sepsis, rushed to resus, and they saved my life. My nephew, he was stabbed in the chest, millimetres from his heart, 6 hours in surgery and they saved his life. I can't thank every single person who works with the care system enough, especially those doctors, nurses, paramedics, surgeon and anesthesiologist enough.

It’s so interesting knowing how different these situations are compared to my country, the USA. Here i don’t think actual doctors go on the field, usually just paramedics respond to serious traumas like this, then they’re brought to the trauma emergency rooms. Also the report from EMS given before arriving at the hospital. It’s all so interesting to see how similar yet different each country works
