This video presents an introduction to the 4 'R's of Trauma-Informed Care:
-Realize
-Recognize
-Respond
-Resist Retraumatization
Each of the 4 are described in detail by Dr. Scott Giacomucci, a Fellow of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress (FAAETS). These four 'R's are essential knowledge for all trauma-informed practitioners, providers, and organizational leaders. The four 'R's provide a simplified framework for applying trauma-informed principles from the SAMHSA.

THIS INFORMATION is so important for humanity! I believe that if we learn about emotional intelligence as our major foundation, we will become more emotionally intelligent creatures. When we stick Doctors who are accredited in the field in the major governmental structures!

This was very helpful for me . My country is currently in a crisis situation where people are exposed to many traumatic experiences. I am in the second year of my master's degree program in clinical counselling and was wondering how to go about a research in this area.

How can become trauma informed certified? Are there any courses you suggest?
@PhoenixTraumaCenter

I don’t know any reputable certifications on trauma informed care but there are plenty of courses out there

Is the trauma informed techniques applied as a short term front-line tactic to manage the immediate trauma of abusive long term govt/company policies set by politicians who have no interest in the well being of those on welfare, and used to gas light said dependents, as we too often have seen in Australian systems of government welfare and healthcare (see Robodebt, etc). Too often the facade of “caring” and “legitimacy” is used to impose undefendable policies.

Thanks Dr Scott , really helpful and useful to me . Please help me understand the difference between realising and recognising. I am a bit confused 🫤
@PhoenixTraumaCenter
@PhoenixTraumaCenter 2 года назад
Sure. I was confused on them at first too as they are very similar verbs. In this context, REALIZE is focused on realizing the high prevalence of trauma in the world; RECOGNIZE is focused on knowing the ways that trauma from the past can impact people today. So realize is about the event and recognize is about how traumatic events can continue to impact us long term. Hope this helps!
