I just found your story, I literally cried so hard when you talked about the anesthesiologist telling you everything was going to be okay. I’m so happy you and your baby made it through and that you were able to go on to have more babies❤️ Thank you for sharing your story because you don’t hear many of these stories! I can’t imagine the trauma you felt during this situation, you’re such a strong mama!❤️❤️❤️

It is very normal for amniotic fluid to get into the mom's blood stream. In women with AFE, they believe it's some sort of allergic reaction to that fluid. You are amazing and a miracle and I'm so happy you're both alive and healthy

That seems to match her description of ants crawling on her skin, which sounds like an allergic IV reaction to me.

I definitely feel doom but i also am researching a bunch about this & i think im over thinking everything😭
@AmberStofel
@AmberStofel 2 года назад
Hi! Make sure you let your provider know your feelings! Is the doom you are feeling like a overwhelming anxiety attack feeling or more of just a general feeling like something is going to happen? Before my birth the doom feeling was there but it was not overwhelming. It was enough for me to recognize that I had it after the fact but when I was going through it I didn’t realize that’s what it was. Make your provider aware of your feelings and request for extra hands during your delivery and for a crash cart to be in the delivery room. Praying for a safe and smooth labor and delivery for you and baby! ❤️

@@AmberStofel i think mine is definitely an anxiety but i wake up every single morning terrified of dying from labor complications. I wrote a will and started writing letters :( just knowing how risky birth is makes me sick. Im 30 weeks and my demised twin passed at 14 weeks my surviving twin is ok. I just worry about retained placenta, hemorrhaging and afe.

Don’t let my story scare you! I had a absolutely beautiful labor and delivery with my oldest daughter and then I had a flawless repeat C-section with my son. When the time comes for you to start thinking about having children I would make sure you 100% trust your doctor and discuss all your fears and concerns with them! My doctors and nurses were angels and were able to help me recover and get through my following pregnancy without much anxiety!

did u happen to have any dreams or premonitions about your condition before it actually happened? i was 9 weeks pregnant when i started dreaming about blood. i woke up the next morning and told my fiance i was gonna have placenta previa, i was scared i was going to die and that this pregnancy felt different and he chalked it up to my hormones but 9 weeks later i was diagnosed with placenta previa. im 32 weeks now and and AFE has been in my head since i predicted my placenta previa.
@AmberStofel
@AmberStofel 3 года назад
Hi Cayce! I am so sorry to hear about your placenta previa. I know that has to be scary especially dreaming about the condition and it happening. I did not have any dreams but I did have a feeling of impending doom for several days before the AFE happened. Before it happened I couldn’t really tell what the feeling was but I knew that things just didn’t feel right. I would bring this up to your doctor and make sure they have all the equipment in place and ready to go for your delivery. Praying for the remainder of your pregnancy and for a healthy and safe labor and delivery.

You're probably not reading these comments anymore, but you should be evaluated for Marfan's syndrome. It's a cartilage disorder and it could put you at risk for aortic dissection.

Do you know what causes amniotic fluid embolism?
@AmberStofel
@AmberStofel 3 года назад
They are not 100% positive what the actual cause is. They do know it happens once the amniotic fluid escapes the amniotic sac. Mine happened after my water broke but they have had women had them within 24 hours after the delivery of a baby. So they know it happens after the amniotic sac is no longer in tact but they do not know what causes it to get into the bloodstream.
@Loumains
@Loumains 3 года назад
The amniotic fluid gets through the blood vessel veins in the uterine wall during contractions if blood vessels don’t close off properly during labor I just watched a presentation on it because I was curious it’s just bad luck if it happens and can happen to if you have a tear inside the uterus and pockets of amniotic fluid travels like blood clots and lodges in the lungs and heart it’s the lungs that it’s the most dangerous because heart failure and lung failure can follow minutes after it happens 🙏

Were you induced with Cytotec / Misoprostol? There is an epidemic of cytotec induction related deaths, classified as AFE (cause technically this is what causes death), but it's all very hush hush. Using Cytotec for induction is against label, but so many doctors still do it. AFE is a possible side effect. So sorry about your trauma and thank God you and the baby survived.
@AmberStofel
@AmberStofel 3 года назад
No ma’am I was only given Pitocin in my IV. They started the Pitocin at 5AM, my water broke around 9:50AM, and then the AFE happened around 10AM. My doctor is still unsure about what went wrong but I believe that since my contractions were so strong that it forced my water to break unnaturally and that caused it to escape into my blood stream. That is all speculation on my part from reading about AFE and listening to others stories. I have always wondered if I had went into labor on my own and had more natural contractions that were not so strong in the beginning if this still would have happened. Thank you so much for your comment! I had no idea about the Cytotec/Misoprostol! It was the scariest day of my life and I am so thankful that we are ok.❤️
