Trav's 10 Rules of Teaching 

I came up with this list of ten basic rules after getting frustrated with arguments with colleagues. I wanted to simplify the principles of teaching into their simplest, indisputable forms.
THE TEN PRINCIPLES
1: A teacher should know what they’re teaching and why they're teaching it.
2: A student should know what they’re learning and why they're learning it.
3: A teacher should know what their students have learnt and what they still need to learn.
4: A student should know what they have learnt and what they still need to learn.
5: All students should be learning.
6: Valuable learning is relevant, purposeful, and meaningful.
7: Valuable learning is long-lasting, applicable, and transferable.
8: Engagement influence learning.
9: Relationships influence learning.
10: Planning and preparation are necessary for effective teaching.
