Got the Tiguan 2 days ago… now it’s going off like crazy. Had to RU-vid it’s thanks for posting no wonder it was going off for her and made no noise for me. I keep my hand on top lol

Thanks for this dude! After numerous forums and discussions online you are the only one that explained things without being someone from VW. Mind you, I was at the dealership and they acted like I was insane while you could clearly see they knew about said issue. Anyway, what I got from forums is that placing your hands on the bottom portion of the steering wheel and squeezing it mitigates the issue. I would still get it of course, but at this point I really couldn’t tell. Sometimes were just better than others. But what you just said could be correct as well. Can I just say that it’s insane we are even talking about this when it’s VW who should fix this once and for all. Side note that online discussions say that even with the new steering wheel this error resurfaces in like a year. One last thing is that presumably this issues is most common on top of the line R and Elegance models and it’s somehow connected to all the installations for all the quirks and assists working together. Mine is a 2021. Tiguan Elegance. No idea about the US, but here in Europe it’s by no means a “cheap” car. Sorry for the long rant and grammar mistakes, just an angry European typing this off after my morning drive to work filled with “travel assist currently not available” beeps. 😅

Thank you very much for the advice! I am going to test it out straight away today, I am driving a Golf 8R 2021 year model. Yeah, it's crazy that VW are turning a blind eye to this and acting like it's not a major factory issue... If it doesn't work out, I'm gonna try to code it out with OBD11, next move is destroying the speaker... I am just not paying 2000€ for a new steering wheel, without even knowing if it will permanently fix the problem, crazy...

I have a 2022 Tiguan SE R-Line black. I just tested the steering wheel placement and you’re 100% correct. Iit’s frustrating because I recently told them about the issue and they assured me that my car doesn’t have the steering wheel problem. I have not tested the headlight issue yet, but I’ll try that soon.

I had the same problem with my Golf 8, model year 2020, after replacing the steering wheel 3 times the problem was solved. But I agree with you, I will never buy a Volkswagen again, too many software problems. Greetings from The Netherlands

Nice R-Line Tig and great video about the workaround that you discovered to this annoying defect with the steering wheel. Hang in there and stay on them until they fix both of your issues.

My brother, I had the problem intermittently. The travel aid sign would light up and go off several times a minute, but the last time it did not turn off for a month, as when I started the car the travel aid light would turn on immediately.

the wheel knows where your hand is is because it is an capacitive wheel. So it detects your hand by small electrical currents

Good video, unfortunately hand placement does nothing for my Tiguan 🤦🏼‍♂️

Hello! I am from Romania and I have the same probleme with my tiguan. They cange my steering wheel , but after one month I have the same probleme + front assist fail.

Did replacing the steering wheel help the travel assist issue? They replaced mine 6 times and it was good for a few months, now it’s the ding is just my new jam..

Thanks for the tip. VW do better! I hate all of this nagging, nanny gear. I won’t buy another VW. The dinging during parallel parking is insanely loud and constant. VW also automatically and annoyingly picks the same first song in ApplePlay any time it connects to Bluetooth. I had a 2010 VW CC for 12 yrs and enjoyed it. I made a huge mistake buying this 2022 VW Tiguan.
