Will never go there again. Went with a female friend - she spent the entire time afraid and upset by hassle from locals. Incredibly unpleasant, I had to square up to a few blokes there just to get them away from her, and I'm not an aggressive person, far from it. Wanted to come home 3 days into it. There's far better countries nearby to go to for a "lock in" holiday if that's what you're after.
We were at a river in Brunei looking for a boat to take us on a tour. I had lots of men approach me but I saw this guy parked quietly at the side and approached him, asking about his price. He was very reasonable and was the best tour guide we could have had. I learnt that it's better not to be in a hurry but to observe and use your best judgement.
Big props to Tim for bearing that heavy rucksack - while he had to leave his camera/phone in locations to film himself walking towards/away from it - only to walk BACK again and retrieve it later :)
The best thing about hotels in sharm el sheikh is that the hotel rooms are usually spread out over big beautiful garden areas instead of being in one big building, or they just have big spacious pool areas. I loved walking through the gardens to get to the pool and beach area, or when heading to the main building to eat. It's just a shame that everyone there always seems hostile or corrupt or as if they're trying to get something from you
I thought that you may, literally, have to swim up to the room! A friend (female) who went to Sharm el-Sheikh, admittedly a few years ago, was not impressed and at times felt unsafe. I look forward to seeing your view.
4:40 - do you not have a Monzo/Curve/Starling/Revolut account? Can use your card with no/minimal fees. You can take out so much cash from an ATM cheaper than using an exchange and for any card transactions pay standard MasterCard/Visa exchange rates.

Oh when you asked how much the taxi gonna cost and he responded One million, come on! It was obviously a rip off.....and also asking for tip? Never ever use the taxi without knowing the price first. Especially in Egypt.
OMG i saw your flight take off! I was watching a live stream of Gatwick when they said it had been closed due to 'drones' but the camera guy zoomed in and we could see it was birthday balloons that had somehow gotten loose.

I have to hand it to you, this is among my favorite channels on RU-vid. You do such a great job. It must take a long time to set your camera up and walk away, then walk back. You do it so nicely I don't stop to consider it often, but when I do I'm impressed. It really must be a long travel day. The Terminal is the Tom Hanks movie where he is suck in an airport. I watched it for the first time on our flight home from Edinburgh last September. It made for a good in-flight movie.
Love the airport coverage but you can keep Egypt. We complain about our taxis but at least they are inspected and taken off the road if they don’t comply with safety regs. I felt really nervous for you.
my sister was taking a taxi to run errands in Cairo the other day and she kept sending me messages throughout the ride about how she's terrified and wants to get out. She said young drivers are surprisingly worse than old ones, and that the particular driver on that ride was 'whipping it like he's suicidal'. the man couldn't be bothered to strap on his own seatbelt 😬
Tim I've been to sharm el sheikh before it's beautiful there. Shame about that taxi driver that's kinda scary oh dear, and the flight being 3 HOURS DELAYED that's ridiculous i would have been very abboyed. I didn't stay in the same hotel as you though haha but not far i dont think. My hotel was lovely and your room looked lovely as well. The view is also beautiful. Thanks for sharing Tim 👍
Felt sorry for you when you were getting ripped off by the taxi! Always so hard to barter and push back when you're exhausted from travel and its late. Just glad you got there safe!

I felt for those children and their parents sitting there 3 extra hours before the flight started. Thats not funny. I think drones should need a license especially with all the international problems. It was BALLOONS?!!! smh

I got delayed at Gatwick or should I say cancelled Basically before I even arrived at the airport it was delayed. When I was at the airport we were sent to the gate waited for ages then sent back to the waiting area- then we went back and waited for like 3 hours and then they said it’s been cancelled because “the cabin crew haven’t turned up” Typical easyJet tbh
12 mins in taxi guy on his blower reminds me every time i go ayia napa are taxi driver petros does calls and also writes in his notebook at the same time guys nuts all over the motorway😂gets you the airport in no time though
You'd think the so called experts would know the difference between balloons and drones for goodness sake!!! I'd never go Egypt based on what I have heard, seen on youtube and read about. That taxi driver was prime example if why I wouldn't go, holidays are for enjoying stress free and anxiety free, I'd be on tenterhooks all the time!! Thanks for the video Tim!!

Hate that we still have to put the little bottles in a plastic bag at security when the technology is there to no longer have to do this. Thankfully my local airport (Teesside) has invested in the new scanners which will be put into action soon... sadly, there's not too many flights from it to places I have an interest in going 😮💨
Id say itll take less than year to have it all around UK. Ireland has it in some airports since last year, London for two months....its just about time :)
i remember Egypt (especially Sharm el-Sheikh) was all the rage in all the travel agents about 12+ years ago then it just stopped. Dont really hear many people going anymore (unless you want to see the pyramids etc). Probably due to Dubai becoming more popular and less hassle.
Great video Tim. I liked the views from the window from the plane nice room . I found a chocolate bar in the mini bar in our hotel room in Maderia gosh it was expensive so next day brought a chocolate bar from a shop Sorry about your rip off taxi.

my son's taxi driver to his school with sen department used to be like that , luckily we got offered a flat in the village where his school is , looks a lovely place , xx
Love the look of the room. Last time I was on a plane was during covid when I was flying down to Birmingham from Edinburgh to goto Nuneaton to visit the boyfriend and was on easyJet as flybe had went bust the first time and there was only ten of us passengers on the easyJet plane.
I do love an airport and flight video, thanks Tim 👍 but I wouldn't fancy going there. That taxi wasn't great and I would be wary of the food, especially salad. Hopefully you were ok and no ill effects. So what did you do while you were there, I'm looking forward to finding out 😊
That place looks amazing, i've never left the country so i'm just coming along with you. Ahh free drink samples, nice. 3 hour delay, not nice! I wonder if the birthday balloon person has any idea what happened as a result! Taxi driver was a bit pushy but i guess there's no real avoiding that. Good tip with the small bag, your neck will recover eventually!

one you start traveling light (well light as in only a Backpack) you get use to it. i've been to Crete , gothenburg and plenty of places over the uk only Traveling with a Small Backpack , plenty of laundrettes about to refesh well worth the savings. for the airport shoppng , i can't understand how the shopping works if i have to pay vat and stuff on it when leaving the airport , confusing so i don't bother xd.
ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO TIM!!!! We go to sharm all the time are due back in september The people in Egypt are genuinely friendly (not fake) and will do anything for you!!! I go to the coral sea holiday village and its amazing and the swim pools are proper swim up pools 🤣 (yours is definitely not a swim up one). I usually take Euros (Left over from cape verde) or English pounds as the Egyptians will take this but prefer american dollars because of the exchange rate i think. I can’t comment on taxis as we go all inclusive through TUI. Alot of people complain about the airport on the way back home because of there are lots of checks but they are only doing there job and keeping people safe. ENJOY YOUR TIME THERE TIM IM WELL JEALOUS!!!
I worked in foreign currency for 20 years and the one currency we hated dealing with was egyptian, it was dirty & filthy money and stunk, handgel at the ready. Enjoy your trip
When it comes to being clean nothing is perfect dude like the pool have a few leaves it it yku clean those out by time you done that more would arrive in the pool so can’t really complain about that
