TRAVEL DIARY | Jakarta to Bali 

I used to go on business trips to Jakarta and stay at the most one month. I enjoy trying different snacks from the local supermarket and convenience stores, which I would pass by after work to take back into the condotel for me to stock up when I do not want to spend money on room service or restos. But I was also fortunate enough to sample the local cuisine from my colleagues who took me out to the best spots. It gave me an opportunity to get to know the area and get connected to the people I see everyday on my commute. I made friends with the concierge of the condotel I stayed in that he would make sure to check up on me to ask if I would need more bottled water, an extra towel or even snacks (without extra charge), Indonesia became my second home. I was also able to learn the language fairly quickly because it is similar to my own language (tagalog).

It's a bit of a challenge to find vegan restaurants in Jakarta, I'm glad you found some!

I’m always curious to see what supermarkets or mini-markets have in stock abroad. We need softdrinks and snacks for the road anyway and I love to try local products.
