I always travel with one of the small backpacker towels; however, the thing I don’t leave home without are baby washcloths. There are never enough washcloths-especially on a girls trip. So, I pack my own. Sometimes I bring the old ratty ones that I have at home and just throw them out at the end of a trip.
I agree! I have been on several girls trips, and even if you’re in a hotel or a house together, there’s usually never enough face towels! I will bring some of my own on those types of trips too! 💕😊
We walk caminos in Europe. I always take a sports towel, the larger one to cover more more of me when I get out of the shower if someone else is waiting to go in.
In over 30 years of travel, the 1 towel I bring, it the microfiber Aquis towel. I still have the 1st one, but I have a 2nd that has more of a waffle texture, and it’s a bit bigger. They don’t dry as fast as I’d like, but they do a great job of getting most of the moisture from my hair. So, I use them at home as well. I have the body towel as well, but I’m not that happy with them. If space matters, I leave the body towel at home. It’s only good for wringing out hand washing.
I bring a Matador Ultra Light travel towel (which I guess is as thin as the thinnest towels in the video) BUT I use it at home too because it is great for drying very curly hair without frizz-inducing friction.
Yes! When I went to Virginia Beach this summer, and we got a late start to go out to the beach and collect our towel from the person, handing them out for our lounge chairs, they had run out of them, and I was really happy. I had my own towel.😊💕
I usually travel with a Turkish or microfiber towel when vacationing to the beach or amusement park. But I just returned from a European vacation where 2 out of 3 of our Marriott family hotels didn’t provide washcloths, so adding small washcloth to my always pack list!
You were like the fifth person who has mentioned that some hotels are not providing washcloths! I think it’s becoming more common and I definitely travel with at least this minimalist one and then maybe another so that at least I have a way to keep my face and body clean😊 thank you so much for sharing your experience with us💕😊
Ford Prefect would be proud of you! Yes, I'm also a hoopy frood who always knows who my towel is :-) I always have one of those Sea to Summit microfiber towels with me, they dry so quickly and take up so little space. A long time ago I invested in a box of Lightload Towels, they are more or less the size of one of those big chocolate coins we got at Christmas, perhaps a big thicker, so it's so easy to tuck a few in every bag. Unfortunately, though, those are not such great quality, so when I've used them I haven't bothered packing them up again. I really do not want to admit just how many Teema towels I own, they are beautiful and I use them as shawls and summer throws around the house. But they take up half my carry on, so I don't use them for travel very much, unless I am going by car and have unlimited baggage capacity. There is always one in the car though, in case I need a bit of extra warmth. When I was travelling in Asia, I always carried a sarong, which I used as an impromptu skirt (especially when I wanted to visit a temple, which don't allow women to enter dressed in trousers), towel, and cover up.
Thank you, Jen! And if I really want to bring the thicker Teema towel, and still pack Kahn only, then I will use the Teelma as a scarf or blanket on the plane 😊
I usually always take some type of towel unless I’m extremely tight on space. Thanks for all the helpful tips. Your videos are always informative and I always look forward to them. Have a beautiful and blessed day. ❤
Thank you, Noemi! Even if I’m tied on, space, I will find a way to shove that little pack in my personal carry-on or something. I would give up clothing to bring that little bit of towels with me.😊
The flat weave turkish towels are great for the beach. Sand shakes right off, and they're so much less bulky and heavy to pack or carry. I have replaced all our terrycloth towels with Turkish towels for beach vacations. They dry quickly and seem to go longer before they need to be washed. The waffle woven one you showed would hold sand more but would be great for the pool.
Yes! So the waffle one is by TEEMA, and says that it is repelled sand. However, I find that the weave and the little fringe can hold a bit of sand. I really do like the thin, Turkish towels because they are so versatile.💕😊
I'm going to be traveling soon and planned on taking a towel but hadn't decided on which one. So I really appreciate you showing us the different types. Thank you for this video.
I agree! I always bring a medium sized towel, the kind that is used for camping. It is useful for many things, like drying hands when paper towels are not available, protecting your clothes when eating, using it like a tablecloth , etc.. So practical & useful.
Yes , I agree a separate face and body towel go with me on every trip. Some European hotels don’t supply a face towel and some Air BNB ‘s have limited supply. I like a back up too. The only difference is that I travel with a light weight micro fiber towel for beach and other uses . I carry a baby size wash cloth to conserve space. I also carry a Compressed disposable Body Towel compressed to the size of a Silver Dollar that hydrates up against a wet body. They air dry very quickly and go with me until the end of trip where I then dispose of it my final Shower night. You can squeeze them in a tiny space in your carry on. Good for drying hair as well.
Boy, are you and I cut from the same cloth! No pun intended! I do carry a disposable washcloth that’s squeezed down into a little tablet, the size of a few dimes stacked up. They are perfect for washing, and I have actually use them in a bathroom when I got into a stall and there was no toilet paper! 😂🤣
Thank you so much and I’m so happy you were able to find my channel through my brother! I really love making these videos for you sharing all my travel hacks! 😊
I love those disposable facial towels! I love having a clean towel every time I use one! And whenever I pack check luggage, I always make sure I have a box with me!
On my June trip (weekish) I brining a towel because I like having a bigger towel to dry off with. Those hotel towels can be skimpy and stiff. Mines is just a regular towel bright coral and quick dry.
I bought myself a set of the super thin towels for Christmas after watching one of your other videos. I’ve packed away the small and the medium in my personal bag, and the larger in my car. I’ve kept a towel or two in my car since my son was a baby. It’s come in handy more times than I can count!
I’m so glad these towels are working out for you! I am a big fan of having some sort of towels around and the one time I didn’t bring it with me and I had my granddaughter she had an accident in her car seat and we had to remove her clothes and of course I didn’t have my towel with me! I’m always learning these valuable lessons!😊
We like to keep a couple of beach towels in each vehicle. Sometimes I have to use them in restaurants to keep warm, other times if it's raining I'll throw one over me to stay dry. It's much easier to deal with a damp towel than a drippy umbrella when you get back into the car.
I always bring a towel in my carryon. But I carry a microfiber washcloth in my purse. I travel with group tours occasionally and hate waiting in line for paper towels or machines to dry my hands. I feel cleaner as well 😉
Exactly! I always carry one of those little face towels with me all the time or now I started carrying a cotton hanky because it’s just so useful! There are many times where I’ve gone to the bathroom and they are out of paper towels or I’ve used the little towel to clean a stain off my clothing or something so again so useful💕😊
I love the brand “Packtowel” from REI. They come in many different weights and sizes. I have a variety. My largest heaviest one is like the sand color one you showed. It’s navy blue and I like using it as a throw or wrap when I get chilly!
We always bring a towel and hand towel, both a micro fiber. We use them alot on our beach or pool lounges at our resort. They give you towels but are not long enough to cover the full lounge. The lounges do not get washed, so instead of looking like a crazy person with my clorox wipes we use our towels. They are very light compact. You can wash and dry them and the come out always looking great.
You’re absolutely right! They never clean those lounge chairs and everybody’s been laying on them with sunscreen and stuff! A perfect reason to bring a towel!😊💕
Completely agree 100% and again I have several options so depending on how I’m traveling with her carry-on or checking a bag I will bring a different towel maybe a thinner one for carry-on only and then a couple thicker ones if I’m doing check baggage😊
Hi Eunice, yes I have taken a small microfiber towel before to a thinner turkish beach towel. We are going to Italy this year & will be in some beach destinations while there. If I can’t fit it into my luggage, I will carry on as a blanket for the plane. Luckily most of our accommodations have a washer so we can wash in between uses. E-cloth which is now sold at Target & Walmart have a window cloth set that is thin & absorbent. In our cars we all have an emergency hand towel for spills. Have a wonderful weekend.
I am like you! I usually Carey one as a blanket on a plane. I used to carry a nice cashmere wrap, but a blanket is more useful because I can use it as a towel and a blanket and a Sarang. Thank you so much for sharing about the towels called e-cloths that you can get at target Walmart.💕😊
I do bring a towel. I have long, thick hair, so need a towel for body and one for hair. I bring a microfiber one that I got at REI and it comes with its own ventilated pouch, though, I prefer cotton. It does its job well enough, dries fairly quick and packs easier.
So the little yellow towel that I bring is an old REI towel that I cut in half to make the face towel. Unfortunately, they don’t make those little towels anymore but I did find the blue one on Amazon, which is the same material.. 😊 I prefer cotton as well, so I always packed a little face towels of microfiber because they’re so tiny, but I usually bring a larger Turkish towel with me when I travel😊
Hey E! I hope you both are well and doing great. We pretty much always bring travel towels with us. I kind of lucked out finding pretty much the perfect towels right away. They are the Youphoria microfiber travel towels. We have several now. They roll down to the size of an XL T-shirt, weigh very little and are very absorbent. We bring one for each of us and we have e a couple backups. I did t care for the Matador towels because they are just too thin, however I own many of their products and love them.
Hi Brandon! We are doing well thank you!😊 I have not heard of those towels and now I’m gonna look them up! You always come up with great recommendations, so thank you for sharing🙏💕 hope you are doing well!!
Whether you are staying in a hotel as you experienced that one is to be added in. I do agree that you never know with flight delays that a towel that is bigger maybe used to find a space to stretch out. The microfiber is something I need to put in my suitcase.
If I’m packing Carina on only, I only bring that little pack with me because I don’t have enough room, but I would give up clothing to make sure I could bring that little pack of towels with me just in case😊
Well, I used to carry a cashmere scarf with me and I did use it as a beach wrap once and unfortunately the saltwater ruined it so now I always carry a towel. Depending on how I’m packing, for example, if I’m checking luggage with a larger piece, I might bring both.💕😊
I never thought to bring a towel when I travel, but I always carry a pashmina, that can serve the same purpose. If I know I'm going to the beach, I have a very thin, can't remember the name, thing that you can wrap around, cover. It's not very absorbent, but it's versatile in how you can style it. My aunt bought it for me because she said it was pretty and all the other girls at the beach had one. So I carry that and remember her.
I used to carry a pashmina or a cashmere scarf with me but I didn’t wanna ruin it if I used it as a towel at the beach or the pool and there are not as convenient to ring out clothing and things like that if I need to wash it so now I just bring a towel. Although I have used a large cotton scarf that I got in India as both so the next time I’m in India, I might have to buy a few more😊💕
Yes! I agree and I have at least a handkerchief in my purse and sometimes I’ll even bring one of these little towels that I’ve cut up a little smaller because the other day I ran into the bathroom and they had no toilet paper left and I was already sitting on the toilet when I found that out and I was glad I had that little piece of towel with me to wipe off! 😉
We went to an Airbnb and all the wash cloths smelled musty. I always carry a few small washcloth’s in my bag and I was so happy to have them. Now I carry a towel too.
Oh my gosh! Me too! I was down south at an Airbnb and the towels just smelled so musty. I couldn’t even use them.! I actually said that in the video but I cut it out because it was getting too long!😂🤣 but that is a real problem because I once used a musty tail like that, and I felt like my body smelled musty afterwards! Another great reason to bring a towel along! Thank you so much for sharing that with us💕😊
I alway carry my thin Turkish towel to keep me warm on the plane or to sit at the beach or park. If traveling to Japan I like to take a little towel to dry off after a foot bath or buy one as a souvenir.
We are cut from the same cloth! I’d like to use them on the plane and I’m always looking for some new or really decorative one that I’d like to take on my next travel adventure plus then it’s a usable souvenir that reminds me of my previous trip💕
Those are nonnegotiable ones that I always take no matter what, for exactly the same reason! They take up a little space, but boy are you happy when you have one when you need it!😊
I have an older microfiber towel that works for me. Dries fairly quick and I use it to wrong out my hand washing. Also, I bring some bamboo washcloths for my face.
I have brought a towel, but they take up so much room that sometimes I leave them behind so I have room for any purchases I have made. Thanks for sharing some options!
I do bring my own MyPillow pillow when traveling, I have never thought about bringing a towel with me. Thanks for sharing some ideas of towels to use. 😊
Many times I will bring that towel and use it as a little pillow on the plane and if I put it in my neck pillow sling, always allowed to bring it on the plane! 💕😊
Thankfully, I have never encountered a hotel or B&B that didn't have a towel...but even if I did, I am never without one. Haha! I'm petite in height and don't require a large one so hand and face towels work well enough for me. I have discovered though the microfiber ones that fold really small, as well as the compressed ones that are biodegradable and disposable so you need not worry about packing them for the trip home.
I always have one of those compressed towel tablets with me in my purse. And I haven’t used it yet for an emergency, but I’ve tried them out and I’m pretty impressed with the quality and that you could use them over and over for a few days.. and I do agree with you. It was nice to have those and use them. You can toss them away and then have less to bring home.😊💕
I have the two Norwex active towels. One is beach size the other hand towel size. They are soft micro fibre. Great for washing up ,rolling up freshly washed clothing and they dry super fast. Along with a couple of their face and body cloths I’m good to go.
My husband has traveled with a towel and bottle of water for years! (Our son was a puke). I have begun traveling with a wash cloth recently. I prefer a thin wash cloth.
Lol! I was recently visiting my grandchildren, and my little two-year-old granddaughter had an accident in the car and we had to take her out of her clothing and it was the one time I did not have my towel with me and I so much wish I’d had it. I had to carry her bare bottomed back into the house, and a towel would’ve been nice to have.. the little microfiber towels that I showed you are really thin and they dry pretty darn quick!
As usual, such great ideas! Being a curly girl, I pack a towel microfiber (similar to your blue ones) for my hair, so I'd have something if really needed. Hadn't thought about a smaller one for the face.
I have straight hair, so I never knew that those microfiber towels were used for curly hair but you’re one of several people who have said so. I’m so glad that’s working out for you! I actually use the washcloths more than anything😊
Thank you Eunice 🌟 You are so very thoughtful 😇-which is clearly reflected in your choices and suggestions🌟❣🌟I am so happy to be following your terrific channel . Thank you for this towel review !! I always bring a towel and facecloth travelling - but am very excited to look into the ones you have presented today. You mentioned that you enjoy crocheting, do you ever share your crochet creations ?? I love to sew and it is nice to hear you like crafting too :) Wishing you a fabulous weekend :)) Thank you again for this fabulous video 🌠 Pax, Ann
Thank you so much! I do enjoy crocheting and I am a beginner, so I’m just making simple things like hats and scarves and baby blankets. I do have a few crafting videos on my channel way down there on the list somewhere that I did a few years ago. I don’t feel I’m good enough at crochet to be doing videos about making things😊💕
I buy the little shrink-wrapped washcloths at the dollar stores (about 1 1/2 inch square) & always keep one in my toiletries case. They open up to about an 8 inch square & are slightly rough (great exfoliator). When I see them, I always buy several because I throw them away at the end of the trip. I've learned that outside the US, many places do not provide washcloths because they consider them personal items, like a toothbrush. I also carry a micro-fiber combo, that includes towel, washcloth and bathmat, all in a small, zippered pouch. Takes up very little room & so convenient for bathing or beach.
Yup, I bring a towel. Several years back I picked up a micro towel set (big, little & wash cloth sizes in a pouch) that I keep in my swimming/shower bag when road tripping or car camping. This past year I added a Turkish cotton towel, and because it came in a pair of two I put the spare in my suitcase because it rolls up small. Was surprised how quickly the Turkish towels dry.
I love my Turkish towel! I know it’s a little bit thicker and it may take up some room but it’s just so handy I would willingly give up clothing to bring it! 💕😊
I feel the need to take towels with me too! They do come in handy!😂 For my face when I have a full face I like using the “makeup eraser” cloths, I personally like the small ones, they come in a 7 day pack but I just use 1-3 for the week and the rest go in different travel bags, they literally take all the gunk off and are super gentle . Give those ones a try! You’ll love them😊
So I have tried those make up remover, towels, and I have found that they don’t remove the make up well enough from my face. I’ve washed my face afterwards with a white cloth and there’s always a bunch of make up on it so I have not been happy using them but I’ve heard many people really are happy using them, but I might just have too much makeup on my face😂🤣 I prefer to use a make up removing balm and do a facial massage while I’m removing my make up and then wash it off with the thin, microfiber towel that dries really quickly.💕😊
@TheoryofSimple I will say I have used different "off brand" ones, and those ones didn't work as well as the original brand name one. Haha I do like the fact that microfiber ones like yours does dry out faster, well if it works for you, no need to change 😉
I have started traveling with a disposable washcloth (that I wash and reuse) and a thin hand towel. You just never know what you'll find (or not find) at your destination! Question : are the microfiber towels you feature the kind that feel really weird on your skin? I have the hardest time even touching those 🫤
Lol! Well, I’m really not a minimalist. I am a maximalist trying to fit into a minimalist footprint.🤣😂 but I am always trying to be prepared for anything! 😊
@@TheoryofSimple WOW! I am from Alabama but I just happen to be IN JAPAN this week! I'm gonna look up Diaso right now! Thanks so much for all your wonderful advice & sharing your experiences & products!
I have used these thin, Turkish towels as a Sarang however, I have also used a cotton sarong as a towel when needed! The one thing about us wrong as it takes up much less space! Thank you so much for sharing💕😊
Great video- I always used to carry cotton bandanas but these new materials are so much better! PS - not a fan of the slow zoom in and out in the editing.
I got that little zipper bag at Daiso Japan. it’s a store here in the United States that carries all kinds of little storage and household and travel items at a really good discount price. If I find one on Amazon, I’ll update in the comments in the video description.😊
I always carry a lightweight foldable blanket with me that I use on the plane and in the hotel room since I get cold. Do you think that I would be able to use the ultralight microfiber towel the same way? I would like to bring along a towel but also want to minimize carrying so much. Love the idea of the smaller face size and will look into getting some to put in my bag.
I will tell you I used to carry a lightweight cashmere throw with me, which was always nice to have. However, I would never use it as a beach towel, or on my yoga mat or anything like that, so I wanted something that was a little more versatile, and a towel is something that has fit the bill.. I will say the thin microfiber ones aren’t going to keep you that warm however, the thicker towel that I showed at the end of the video that’s a little more expensive, is my favorite. And it’s because of thicker so I want to use it as a little blanket when I’m cold it works but it also works great as a towel and that particular towel also sheds sand pretty well😊💕
