Travel: Explore the Mendenhall Glacier 

The retreating glacier is revealing a 1 to 2000 year old mature forest.

Got to see it today - but it’s melted a ton. By 2040 it is estimated that it will be gone. :(

No mention of the fact that the glacier is disappearing due to global warming, eh?

oy! i am growing up here and i only started to notice it when i was about 5 in like 2009. i really noticed it when i was on a just exposed kyak beach where i busted my finger open. they also didnt even think about how dangerous going into the ice caves were. cnn for ya:/
