Today we get travel hacks and tips as we catch up with a solo senior woman traveler who has visited over 70 countries. This world traveler uses Cuenca, Ecuador as her home base. She previously shared her lifestyle living on $1039 a month in Cuenca Ecuador. She shares her top travel hacks and tips for making the most of her experience traveling the world. From navigating websites to finding affordable accommodations, she gives us an inside look at how she maintains a fulfilling lifestyle while sticking to her budget. Join us for this update on her journey as a single female exploring the world and living her best life from Cuenca, Ecuador! Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more travel inspiration and budget-friendly tips for your own adventures.
From Kay: "Living as a single female world traveler comes with its own set of challenges, but with a few hacks, it's definitely doable. One of the biggest tips I can give you is to take advantage of the affordable cost of living in Cuenca. From rent to groceries, everything is more budget-friendly here. Another hack is to immerse yourself in the local culture. This not only helps you save money, but also gives you a richer experience of the city. As for transportation, opt for walking or taking public transportation instead of taxis. It's not only cheaper, but also a great way to explore the cities of the world. When it comes to food, eating at local markets and street stalls can save you a lot of money. And don't forget to haggle at the markets for the best prices!"

We began our retirement in March of 2020 with the intent to travel the world, spending 1-3 months in a country or location. We want to see what it's like to live there and not simply visit, and we want to share these experiences and the costs with whoever wishes to follow along.

Great to hear from a fellow single female traveler! At 63, I’ve been to 40 countries since 1990 as a corporate expat, digital nomad, foreign exchange student and (now) slow traveler. It’s rare to see women in the same situation. Traveling alone brings different challenges - affordable housing, safety/security, making friends, dealing with emergencies, even dining out. I wish someone would do a series addressing our unique needs.

What an inspiration. I hope I get to do this some day. In 2022 I quit my job and sold my house and traveled the US in a used truck camper for a year as a solo woman. I loved it, and I was really surprised to find I never really felt afraid. I'm binging your videos and dreaming of the day I get to retire and travel the world.

Hi Warren and Julie, Thanks for sharing this update on Kay. Did she expand further on what went sideways on her permanent Visa process? Thanks for letting us know. Also, would you consider toggling on additional language subtitles options? In the case of my multi-lingual family, Spanish would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your consideration
@WarrenJulieTravel
@WarrenJulieTravel 5 месяцев назад
We will check into subtitles. Kay remained out of the country too many months in one year and lost her right to permanent residency.

My first concern and question is àlways WHERE is your homebase? Do you pay rent there or ßtay with a relative/friènd for address/passport/citizenship purposes? That seems to be the foundational basis that needs to be determined FIRST. Everything else must flow from that. I was a full-time nomad in the US for two years and having a physical address was imperative for vehicle insurànce, passport, driver's license Social Security, Medicare, etc., ànd it was quite a pain in the arse dealing with bureaucrats at DMV, vehicle insurance, etc. Would greatly appreciate it if you'd ask these questions, esp of the solo travelers, as this is my major obstacle currently. Thanks much, love your videos❤
@WarrenJulieTravel

If you are asking about our guest, Kay, she does not have a home base. She travels full time. We have a home base in Montenegro, and we do a lot of videos on this little country. When Kay visits the US, she stays with family. We have not been back to the US, except for short visits and we have stayed with family for those visits. We use our son's address as our physical address, but we did use ipostal for a few years. The DMV was very easy for us in Florida. As far as vehicle insurance, when we return for a visit, we rent a car through our credit card and opt for the coverage through them. We do not have a home in the US any longer. We sold everything in early 2019. Thanks for watching:)
@sunnyla2835
@sunnyla2835 3 месяца назад
@WarrenJulieTravel Thanks! Great info. Using a p.o.box or a mail forwarding company is becoming increasingly difficult in the US. Progressive insurance company now uses Google earth to confirm physical addresses, and DMVs require proof of residency, such as utility bill, rent receipt, etc. Anyway, thanks, looks like having a friend or family for residence address will be necessary.

Very nice and inspiring video with Lindy! Thanks! Side note: we are also currently in Albania in Durres and if you are anywhere near, we'd love to meet. We'll be here until the end of the month. (I sent a message via Facebook but I'm not a Facebook expert - or RU-vid eiher)

Thanks for watching! We are in Sarande If you make it here we would love to meet up. When we head up to Montenegro on the 7, April we may be able to grab a coffee together on our way out of Albania. I recommend Sarande for a visit. I don’t think I saw the message. I’ll check now
@TravelingToday-yu9gv
@TravelingToday-yu9gv 5 месяцев назад
Unfortunately, we probably won't get to Sarande this visit. We head from here to Istanbul for a month, Capadocia briefly, then Antalya for a month followed by Skopje for 2 months. Slow traveling for about a month each normally. Hopefully, we will get to meet this year. Meanwhile, Albanian is NOT an easy language! I've almost got the pronunciation of "faleminderit" down! Hurray for Google translator! @@WarrenJulieTravel

@@TravelingToday-yu9gv agreed, it’s a tough language. I probably pronounce “faleminderit” wrong every attempt.

I heard that theft is an issue in Cuenca and most if not all, countries in Latin America. Could you address this issue in future videos please.
@WarrenJulieTravel
@WarrenJulieTravel 4 месяца назад
Theft is an issue in many parts of Latin America, but since we do not travel to those locations at this time, it is hard for us to comment on it. With our channel, we strive to give real world firsthand knowledge. If we receive information from credible sources such as friends etc, we will definitely report it. When we were there we understood petty theft was common in Cuenca like a pick pocket, but not violent crime. The coast is more prone than the mountains to crime. Thanks for watching.

We should all admit our government has really failed us by allowing "allies" to treat Americans so badly. She had an apartment and wanted to stay. What purpose do bureaucrats in Ecuador have in kicking her out? 90 days isn't enough time to unpack a suitcase.Georgia and Albania should be leading the trend in giving Americans a full year tourist entry visa. Yes, Georgia has terrifying mountain pass roads. But they're generally leading into Russia or Abkhazia or South Ossetia
