Good to raise awareness on a very often overlooked subject 👍

Didn't know that, bloody good advice Nate, thank you. As for the flat, don't sweat it, we all do it and, a bloke as genuinely nice as you is always going to have an army of willing rescuers permanently on call😊

Ha. Thanks John. Yes thankfully happened a few miles from the bunkhouse. Think I'd forgot to slow down for the cattle grids. Will do next time!

Wish I had seen this in January! Had been thinking about going to a bike rally in Romania... Due to my health issues thought I should get insurance so did the online research, even before I paid the deposit, it all became time consuming because I read the small print. I have osteoporosis so wanted proper cover in case I ended up up with a fracture for any reason eg tripping over a tent peg. Am also having tablets for cancer. I gave up with that plan and eventually just got quotes for two weeks in Spain on my 125. (I live near brittany ferries). Change from a thousand pounds.. On top of this when I mentioned going away to the oncology nurse she said ask us first. 😮

Great video and well done for all you are doing to raise money for Richard. Completely agree about checking the best cover as many people dont realise that many polices exclude bikes over 125cc. Carole nash seems reasonable cover and is specifically for motorcycle touring abroad if you arent in the EU on your own bike (my travel insurance covers me on my own bike in the EU but not if its a hire bike over 125cc etc). Ride safe ✌️👍

Good advice. 20 years of foreign travel for motorsport, taught me that you need good insurance. A British driver we knew had a bad off and was in a French ICU for a week. £40,000 to save his life. Another one , was eventually airlifted back to the UK after a stay in a French hospital, that was £90.000! Insurance is a pain when you pay it, but a massive relief if your loved ones have to pick up the pieces. As I say, very good advice!

Hope you raise some good money for him! One way to keep the cost down on the insurance front is to ride 125cc everywhere, many policies cover you for that. Have a good time 👍

Oh dear! No socket for the wheel-change… fundamental error! But we all do forget the crucial item sometimes.. Thanks for the insurance advice Nathan. Les

This is brilliant advice, I've always done travel insurance and was aware about motorbike cc restrictions, but I had no idea about accident payments.. I'm now looking at taking this .. Thanks

Monzo Bank has a premium option which costs £15 a month (you can stop or start as you wish) and this includes a worldwide travel policy which covers motorcycle trips for up to 45 days worldwide. Rather than simply say you are covered the insurer (Zurich) typically does it the other way around and says you are not covered unless... - but basically the exclusions state: ....the use of motorised vehicles unless an applicable current driving licence is held allowing the use of such vehicles in the UK and your trip destination. Helmet wear is mandatory for all 2- or 3-wheeled vehicles (see the Sports and Activities section) So in short, you are covered for motorcycling of any capacity machine so long as you have the correct licence! I guess, technically, you could join for your trip and then stop the premium account.

Voyager insurance are in the UK, but they also offer cover for Brits living in the Europe. Many brokers don't tell you that if they cover motorcycles, its only up to 125cc. CHECK, CHECK, CHECK. Great to see that you are still raising money for Richard-that could happen to us all

I’m 63, with high cholesterol and my blood pressure is a bit higher than it should be. Navigator quoted me @£140 for The Cowboy Trip, which I think is bloody brilliant. Good recommendation, Nathan 👍. As regards the Motolug, we never travel without a spare wheel and tools - just saying 😉 ….

Some critical illness cover does offer permanent disability meaning you can't do any occupation afterwards....but do agree travel insurance is needed

Id just like to say: be extremely cautious with insurance companies. Unless yiu get the prospectus - and can read the jargon through until you really understand what you are and Aren't covered for i would be reluctant to hand over your hard earned.... Out of interest, When i was quite well off i did a check one weekend on our house insurance. I went around and valued everything at replacement cost (back in those days the lounge curtains were £600 for a modest sized window) and when it came to my Prudential man said they didnt offer a policy that would cover the (genuine)replacement costs that id listed.. That was well over 25 years ago and ive not had insurance ever since.. It changed my whole view on insurance and despite travelling alone to many back street parts of the world (on my own) the ONLY time I've taken T.I. is- when i went to The US. Im not saying dont at all - im saying that the Insurance industry as a whole is like trying to hold an eel in wet hands.

Hi Nathan. Informative video, thanks. I also use Navigator but, to be honest, since Covid, I've noticed less and less choice in the motorcycle travel insurance marketplace (even Navigator's insurance cover offers a fair bit less than it used to). Cant quite figure out why this is the case 🤔
@nathanthepostman
@nathanthepostman 3 месяца назад
Yes it's a growing problem I think; the shrinking of the insurance providers. I would imagine it's the level of risk they're willing to cover, for the profit involved that's doing it.

Good advice mate. Or do as you did, use a sub.125 c.c.bike then you are covered on most normal policies.😂

Can anyone recommend a good uk insurance company for accidental injuries on a motorbike??

Re schemes like :Protect my Income' Every time I looked into those there was always a clause that said they wouldn't pay out if you had any form of income coming in. As i invoiced nearly all my sales I therefore had constant stream of money coming in so it made those type of policies absolutely useless. Just check and check again like Nathan said.
@nathanthepostman
@nathanthepostman 3 месяца назад
Yes, lots of clauses to know about. If they can get out of it they will. Though in fairness I've had two riders have to heavily rely on their Navigator Policies and both times it's covered them no qualms.
