Hey everyone! I hope you enjoyed this video of me reviewing this Travel Router for the Playstation Portal and your mobile hotspot. Hopefully this device solves most of the problems many PS Portal owners are having. This is my new favorite Portal Accessory! If you have any questions let me know in the comments below 🫡 Thanks for watching!
What’s the point of the travel router if you’re still connecting to the hotspot of your phone? I thought you meant it would connect to the 5g signal of your carrier not the mobile hotspot. You can still use your hotspot without this travel router i am trying to figure out what the point is
The point is to bypass carrier restrictions for portal owners who can’t connect to their mobile hotspot. I explained this in the video.. on top of that the router can be used in hotel rooms so there’s no more network issues between connecting the portal and the tricky hotel WiFi firewalls out there. Hope this help you understand 🫡🎮🔥
Bro, I have T-mobile and been having issues for months concerning this. I brought this device and now it works. Thank you bro and I appreciate all the time and effort you put in trying to help people concerning this. Keep up the good work💪🏽❗️
Hey guys this is wrong you CAN hotspot your phone directly to the PSP through the new update i brought one today update the console, and connected it to my phone hotspot and it works
Hey John. You did NOT cook with this one. There's thousands of portal users who can't connect to their hotspot due to carrier restrictions. If you got yours to connect that's great but that's not the case for everyone including myself.
@@TechMarkGaming guess it’s just a UK thing then our carries out here don’t rely do that; I’ve got unlimited everything on my SIM, that wouldn’t then be PlayStations fault but rather the carriers
All this hassle just to hotspot, why can't playstation just allow us to hotspot easily? Portal is really great inside a home but i'm waiting for the day I can use it outside just as easily, Keep up the good work tho brother!
Agreed! I hope they enable us to do so in the future without the hassle but in return they are just making us smarter along the way! Thanks for the comment 🫡🔥
U can with the new update u scan the qr code from the device on ur phone and it allows u to accept the terms from ur phone to connect to public wifi u dont need this router
My portal refuses to connect ps5 through my hotspot and with your custom hotspot thing and I’ve bought this router still refuses to connect…. Love it. Is it because my iPhone 15? Or that I’m with Vodafone?
Hey sion, I have a iPhone 16 pro max on t mobile. After doing some research I noticed that Vodafone cellular towers are NAT type 3. While the portal is a NAT type 2 device. Maybe that’s what’s preventing you from connecting. Did you try it on another phone? (If possible?)
Question I have a Solis lite 4g hotspot I can connect the PlayStation portal via WiFi and it works also I have my ps5 console at home on lan cable now I can turn on the ps5 but the portal can’t connect to the ps5 to play on the go. so i don’t know if it’s a firewall that’s blocking it or I need a different way to connect.
Nah you should still be able to connect! Sometimes the network doesn't connect for minor reasons. Check out my video called "How To Fix PlayStation Portal WiFi Connection Issues' where I walk you through all the steps I use to fix it! I left a link in the description. Let me know if this works for you 🫡🔥🎮
As a PS Portal owner I would suggest everyone connects their Ps5 to an Ethernet cable rather than WiFi. And of course your Ps Portal to any WiFi with good speed, I haven’t had an issue an even when I’m not home. But I would like to try this travel router like in hotels, while in the car to see how good the connection is. Awesome Video brother 🙏🏼
appreciate your time making this video. Question: Isn't saying this device makes your Hotspot signal stronger similar to saying a new router will give your internet speeds a boost over what the ISP offers you....right?? For example, if u have verizon home internet and they say the max speed you will get is 500 mbps, nothing your going to buy will improve that max speed...correct?
Hey good question! Essentially yes. From my testing the router has helped me avoid signal drops and disconnects while gaming on the go! Now for speeds, the speeds will remain the same but connection doesn't drop out like it does when I Hotspot directly from my phone at times. I'm currently working on a video showing this. Even when in a congested area the signal remains connected, it might a little choppy but it still keeps you connected 🫡🎮🔥 Hope this helps.
As someone who travels frequently for work, a travel router is a must have in general. I personally prefer to have my vpn set up on it then have devices connect through the router instead of straight to hotel or Airbnb WiFi.
I heard about the VPN feature! Seems really cool and I’ll most likely be using it once I travel more! Thanks for sharing how you use the router Trey! Enjoy your day!
Or make a portable system that can be played online or offiline with enough HD space to load your games with integrated controller and the ability to play on a big screen with friends. Like a nintendo switch of sorts... my bad 🤣 allegedly of course.
Man...i hear you! Its probably a a process, since they need to have the "proper" game performace for the average player to be sure the games are going to run efficiently. After owning the portal for some time I can appreciate the device a for what it is. Huge potential imo🫡🔥🎮
Can you do a video for android phones ? I've watched this video and you skip around thru the process. So when I set up the router I kept getting a msg stating the router wasn't connected to the internet when I tried to tether my phone .
I don't have a android phone Sadly. Maybe the step where I said turn off "Maximize Compatibility" is where the router is getting tripped up on your android phone. Try disabling that by going to settings -> network and internet -> hotspot & tethering -> wifi Hotspot -> toggle off extended compatibility. Keep me updated, hope this helps
I was thinking you were going to say because the more expensive option uses WiFi 6 and the portal wouldn’t recognize it. Oh and thanks for the video, I am not tech savvy and was truly upset at Sony for this POS portal I paid $300+ for now I have hope it may work
So question, I have a portable hotspot (nighthawk) that I bought from AT&T.. it’s a box portable. Now would it make a difference if i bought the to go hotspot router? I mean i can connect to it but now sure if it will do any different?
If the portal connects to your mobile Hotspot then I think you'd be fine. I noticed that I don't get disconnected no matter the speeds using the travel router. compared to my mobile Hotspot directly from my phone! I'll still have to do more testing🫡🔥🎮 hope this helps
@@TechMarkGamingyeah I connected the router to my ps portal…good speed. But still doesn’t connect. I have a strong WiFi at home, and still doesn’t connect.
Yes it's using my mobile data in this video. The router can do much more like connect to hotels ethernet port, host it's own VPN & more...but this is what I like to use it for! Thanks for asking Darth🫡🔥🎮
@@TechMarkGaming I have "unlimited" data but once I get the message I've used 50gb data my phone hotspot no longer works for the portal. If this router was connected to my hotspot on my cell it will still connect to the portal?
@DarthRambo ohh okay I see, so the unlimited data is supplied to your phone's usage (browsing the web, streaming TV shows from apps ect) ON DEVICE ONLY. Now for your Hotspot, the data supplied to your phone is "limited" to 50GB. So once you go over the 50GB cap then your carrier throttles your speeds which in turn will still allow you to connect to your phone's Hotspot internet but it'll be EXTRA slow. If this happens you can call your carrier and ask if you can have 10gb's of extra Hotspot data or whatever you want. They will supply you with that data (you will be charge accordingly on your current monthly bill). Hope this helps!
If you have access to it's router/ ethernet port. It's mostly used for mobile hotspots, broadcasting wifi signals from hotels/motels ect.. But I'm sure there's more features you can use if you have a android device! Hope this helps
Cheap practice :you buy a 200£ device and than another 200£ to have wi fi and than you pray this works even do you got no games on this device ,really ?😢
The router cost less than a brand new PS4 game. For this use case, I think it's absolutely worth it so you don't have to worry about carrier restrictions.
Really? I haven’t had any issues since I purchased the router. Restart your ps5, router, portal, and phone. Also make sure maximum compatibility is turned off
@@TechMarkGaming yes done all that and just can’t get it to work. It occasionally turns the ps5 on but won’t actually connect to the console. Sending the router back. Literally ready to sell the portal as I bought it for holidays or at work to use but can’t and had it 4-5 months now
I have major issues connecting to the portal with my AT&T hotspot showing NAT 2. Do you think thisbwill fix that issue? I think it's similar to the tmobile hotspot issue right?
To you but there’s tons of portal users who want to use there phones personal hotspot data to play their PS5 games on the go! Maybe for kids as well. Thanks for your perspective 🫡🔥🎮
