It is a great joy and blessing to see the Holy Sangha, the Sacred Temples and Blessed Shrines. The Holy Maha Bodhi Temple and the Sacred Bodhi Tree remind me of 2 beautiful Gathas by the Blessed 6th Patriarch Hui Neng. The Sacred Bodhi Tree : " Mind is the Bodhi Tree, the Body is the Mirror stand ,the Mirror is so clean, dust has no place to Land. " The Mahabodhi Temple : " Bodhi doesn't have any Trees, this Mirror doesn't have a stand, our Buddha Nature is forever pure. Where do you get this dust ? " In Sum, The Blessed Hui Neng is pointing out 2 ways to understand Bodhi or Awakened Consciousness. one is the Conceptual view of the Bodhi Tree or the Non Conceptual View of the Mahabodhi Temple or both views are paramount in their respective importance. For example--which is more important-the thinker or the thought ? What is the differance ? The 17th Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje sums it all up from his sacred book the heart advice of the Karmapa, " It is through listening to,contemplating and meditating upon the Dharma that the real value of the Dharma comes forth in that it leads one along the paths that bring about liberation and omniscience, the complete knowledge of everything. " Om Vajrasattva Hum !
