I always recommend that people show up at the airport three hours ahead so that way they are at least two hours early. And then for connecting flight I always recommend 2 1/2 to 3 hours just because of customs. so you are absolutely right when it comes to traveling internationally. If you have a travel agent they should have made sure that your transportation to and from the hotel will set up what time or at least a reminder.
