A Horse is much more vulnerable to weather conditions and in general. They require Food, Water, good air (Altitude), Shelter, Medical Care, Training, Rest, Grooming and Attention. A Car can survive in almost any condition, temperature and altitude for prolonged periods of time, sometimes even just forgotten and left there. They require Gas/Electricity, Mechanical Checkups once in a while, and Insurance. If someone hits your car, you can get it fixed or get a new car. If someone hits your horse, there's a good chance you and the horse will die. If someone hits your car, you can still drive it or have it towed. If someone hits your horse, you can't do that. If someone hits your car, you can sue the one that hit you. If someone hits your horse, you're considered a Traffic hazard and were knowingly putting yourself at risk. A car has much more utility than a horse in the modern world and overall doesn't require nearly as much time, effort, and money to prolong it's lifespan. A car can be used as a shelter in time's of need and carry hundreds of pounds of various sized loads on it's own spread across a large surface. But most importantly: Your car feels nothing, it has no desires, It will never complain, it doesn't need a break, it won't throw you off of it, and unless it's broken it will always do what you want it to do when you want it to do it.
She made it sound crazy to ride on horseback it didn't really stop until the 1930s and it's still kind of going just rare and we've been doing it for thousands of years
@@christopherverse Do you think people just rode chariots only? They rode horses as transportation too you know. cars didn't exist and walking everywhere long distances sucks. So if you have an animal you can ride you would use it. Many cultures also used standard horse cavalry like the Romans. Even the Celts who are famous for chariots still also used standard mounted cavalry alongside.
@@Ren-lx8wv I’ve grown to think that chariots were used prematurely before horseback riding because of the fact that early horses weren’t big enough to carry men. The horses we see today were breeded to look as such. Then that’s when we had horseback riding. I could be mistaken tho I don’t remember when I learned this
Not true. They can pull you over for not following the laws. You don't have to have a license or insurance, but they can stop you and ticket you if you don't follow the traffic laws.
plus wouldn't it be financially cheaper to have a horse as a vehicle of transportation than a car etc? i mean, at least it be eco friendly, along with electric cars
@@SniffiestHalo1 Compared to the production of electric vehicles. Yes it’s a better option. Lithium is mined in Argentina and just to transport that element alone produces a significant carbon footprint.
@@extra2357 Also just like they infend now tires they invented something called shoes for horses Like the ones the Police use for riding horses on anything
No registration or insurance. And we actually own it instead of getting the government permission to rent it every year even when the car is all paid off.
@@lukesmith981 those politicians shove em cars up the rear, they probably made the car so that they can milk even more money out of us from every angle of our lives while leaving a lot of us with crumby jobs an barely getting by or just by enough, we need the old ways, money is getting out of hand, there's a bill on every aspect of our lives, energy, rent an etc for houses/apartments, water, cars, all of our food that seems like when you barely buy anything the price is high, all the laws that stripe the freedom of this country that we once had in the earlier days, an I feel bad for the natives. An im right in the middle of civilization right now with no pretty sights, just same buildings for as far as you can see.
In California, it is the law that horses can be used for transportation on surface streets or open highways. Closed Highways, or Freeways, are prohibited. Kind of understandable due to the speeds involved with freeway driving. Cities can impose restrictions for safety and sanitation, however they can't prohibit riding or driving horses from their streets. Also, horses have the right-of-way in all situations. A motor operator may not pass unless signaled to do so by the handler (driver or rider) of the horse(s). Most fast food places don't want horses in their drive-thru and that's their right.
So? Leaves and fur used to be the first clothing. Dumping your feces in the street used to be the first toilet. Cocaine and meth used to be medicines. Just because something was done in the past doesn't mean we should still do it know. We have better vehicle options, and riding horses is unnecessary and dangerous for them A horse shouldn't ever carry more than 15-20% of its own body weight, and most Americans are obese! Let horses run and do their own thing, they don't exist FOR human transportation. Lmao
@@Jhfisibejoso8pkabrvo2is8 I'd rather ride a horse as a cheaper option then spend so much on gas and a human to a horse is about as light as a cowboy hat to a human
Cities couldn't bother to make areas/lanes that are good for horses. London's Hyde Park Stables do have the access to ride in Hyde park, near Kensington Palace and Bucningham Palace because they have specific areas they can ride in. Those areas are also used by the horses used by the Cavalry. Basically you would need a softer footing like a mix of sand so the horses feet won't get stress damage or other damage. Riding on hard surfaces like asphalt can be harmfull. Mounted Police Units use special rubber shoes though that absorb some of the shock from the hoof while walking. Some people use rubber booties.
Technically traveling by any NON MOTORIZED means is constitutionally protected. Driving a motor vehicle is a PRIVILEGE and why it requires a license. Traveling on publics roads is ONLY A PRIVILEGE in a motor vehicle because driving is a privilege but traveling on a public funded road by unmotorized methods is a right . I'm not arguing the safety precautions of the law but it's still unconstitutional to hold a right of travel to the same standard as a PRIVILEGED form of travel .
Dang city slickers, an their new auto mobiles, the old way is now the wrong way, an feel inside that could be applied to more than one thing of these days we live in. Now I'm too poor to even afford a horse when back then it was probably relatively easy to get a horse, id imagine.
I live in a collage city and we allow horse and drawn vehicles all over in fact the old man who lives at the end of the street will often gives carriage rides to you if he sees you out and has seen you at church functions
I quit riding on county roads, when in Texas, a loose tire in the back of a pick up truck bounced out and rolled into the ditch in front of us🤤. I few years later a young person was killed on the side of the road, just like that runaway tire. Sad Susan
In Chechnya too. In the mountains here the roads are so bad that in some places your only choices are to either go on foot, or on horseback. I kinda like it to be honest.
@@PrimericanIdol here they have special breeds of horses that have been bred for thousands of years, specifically to be used in the mountians. One example is the Kabardin. It can scale any mountain quicker then a mule. This breed dates back as far as the the Hittite civilization, which existed 3600 years ago.
It is 100% legal to ride in both cities and counties in every single state except for Louisiana. Yeah cops dont like it they will tell you that you cant ride in city limits but its a flat out lie. Ask them to show you the statue or law that prohibits your travel because i promise you they cant. Also for non motorized travel (travel by animal) you do NOT have to be 16. 😂
Trail rides aren't dependent on the dicipline -.- If you ride in western, then you ride in western. If you ride a trail in western then that doesn't make the trail a "western diciplined trail". It's just a trail that you can ride on.
And Oklahoma riding a horse even in town is legal cars will get tickets for honking at you and stuff especially if you're driving a horse and wagon I mean think about it what would the Amish do without their horse and Buggies
I don't even understand why people still ride horses like you really need to. There are cars. All these wannabee cowboys/cowgirls. Unless you're a farmer. Just quit it.
Horse are more healthier than a car .all vechicles causes pollution so you not making sense petrol ruins the earth atmosphere our ozone layer is suffering plenty because of it you won't see that wait smh
