Traveling in Iceland is, in one word, amazing. Just a three-hour flight from Amsterdam, you'll find combinations of landscapes like you won't find anywhere else in the world.
Reykjavik is nice and modern with a cozy center where you can eat delicious, go out and shop even better. The center is not very big and therefore you can walk almost everywhere.
Shopping in Reykjavik's best street: Laugavegur
Laugavegur is the main street in the center of Reykjavik and is a very nice place to stroll around for an afternoon. There are dozens of nice shops, coffee shops and bars. You can find exclusive clothing but also vintage shops and of course shops with nice gadgets for your interior.

Let's start with one of Reykjavik's most famous tourist attractions. This special church is really worth a visit. It is no less than 74 meters high and with its beautiful architecture this is perhaps the most beautiful building in Iceland. You can take a lift all the way to the top from where you have a cool view over the colored roofs of Reykjavik.

On the boulevard of Reykjavik is the beautiful work of art Sun Voyager. Many people think it is a Viking boat, but it is, as the artist himself calls it 'a dream boat as an ode to the sun'. Together with the sea and the mountains in the background, this is a perfect photo spot during the sunset!
#Dive into the nightlife
Reykjavik is known for its great nightlife. It is therefore bursting with many clubs, cafes and bars. What makes going out in Reykjavik so nice is that everything is located on or around the main street Laugavegur. So if you've seen it at one tent, you can often just walk to the next. Recommendations for a nice evening are: Kaffibarinn, Austur and Húrra.

Yes, it's true what they say, eating out in Reykjavik in soooo good! In one way or another the Icelanders can cook very well and it is well worth your money to go out for dinner at least once (or just several times). Again it is not cheap but you know that when you go to Iceland. In the main street Laugavegur are many good restaurants.

Reizen in IJsland is in één woord waanzinnig. Op maar drie uurtjes vliegen vanaf Amsterdam vind je combinaties van landschappen zoals je die nergens anders ter wereld kan vinden.
Reykjavik is lekker modern met een gezellig centrum waar je heerlijk kan eten, goed kan uitgaan en nog beter kan shoppen. Het centrum is niet heel groot en daardoor kan je bijna overal naartoe wandelen.
Shoppen in de leukste straat van Reykjavik: Laugavegur
Laugavegur is de hoofdstraat in het centrum van Reykjavik en is een hele leuke plek om een middagje lekker rond te wandelen. Er zijn tientallen leuke winkels, koffietentjes en bars. Je kan er exclusieve kleding vinden maar ook vintage winkels en natuurlijk winkels met leuke hebbedingetjes voor je interieur.
#Bezoek de beroemde Hallgrímskirkja kerk
Laten we beginnen met één van de bekendste toeristische trekpleisters van Reykjavik. Deze bijzondere kerk is dan ook wel echt een bezoekje waard. Hij is maar liefst 74 meter hoog en met zijn prachtige architectuur is dit een misschien wel het mooiste gebouw van IJsland. Je kan met een lift helemaal naar boven vanaf waar je een gaaf uitzicht hebt over de gekleurde daken van Reykjavik.
#Bezoek het bekendste kunstwerk van IJsland
Op de boulevard van Reykjavik staat het prachtige kunstwerk Sun Voyager. Veel mensen denken dat het een viking boot is maar het is zoals de kunstenaar het zelf noemt ‘een droomboot als ode aan de zon’. Samen met de zee en de bergen op de achtergrond is dit een perfecte fotospot tijdens de zonsondergang!

Reykjavik staat bekend om het geweldige uitgaansleven. Het barst er dan ook van de vele clubs, café’s en bars. Wat uitgaan in Reykjavik ook zo fijn maakt, is dat alles op of rondom de hoofdstraat Laugavegur ligt. Als je het dus bij de ene tent gezien hebt, kan je dus vaak gewoon lopend naar de volgende. Aanraders voor een leuke avond zijn: Kaffibarinn, Austur en Húrra.
#Heerlijk uiteten gaan in Reykjavik
Ja, het is waar wat ze zeggen, uiteten in Reykjavik in zó lekker! Op de een of andere manier kunnen de IJslanders gewoon heel goed koken en is het je geld dubbel en dwars waard om zeker één keer (of gewoon meerder keren) lekker uit eten te gaan. Wederom is het niet goedkoop maar dat weet je wanneer je naar IJsland gaat. In de hoofdstraat Laugavegur zitten vele goede restaurants.
