btw from all the times I've been to Riga I've learned to keep away from places with personnel standing outside and inviting you in. It's and indicator of double or triple prices. At least for beer. Just "going around the corner" in the Old Town it can drop from ~7 € to ~2,5 €

It felt warmer in Riga because Riga sits on shore of Baltic sea and any place so near by sea is warmer than more in-land one

Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania were IMPROPERLY part of the USSR by the way. They were free and independent republics after WWI.

Whoa, I can't believe that was the first time you missed a bus in all your travels
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 5 лет назад
Yeah not bad eh? I mean I've missed buses as in got to the bus station and one had just left or whatever and had to wait for the next one. But as far as having a reservation and trying to get there on time, I think that's the first one. Maybe I've forgotten another time. Definitely never missed a plane or a train that I can think of.
@waltertomashefsky2682
@waltertomashefsky2682 5 лет назад
So, two top tips: always scope out where the bus/train station is as you’re exploring the town and always get to the train/bus station with more than 10 minutes to spare. And maybe use a translation app on your phone. Thanks, I learned a lot today.

Glad to see that you have arrived safely to Riga. If you are still in Riga please show people the beautiful Art Nouveau architecture in the city. It is found on a lot of streets however you should probably go to where Elizabetes, Alberta and Antonijas streets are. Thats the most famous location for Art Nouveau. There is even an Art Nouveau museum there with authentic interiors to see how people lived back then. The museum's address is Alberta street 12 but the entrance is from Strelnieku street.

@@GabrielTravelerVideos you are welcome! You can also show the viewers House of the Blackheads in the old town. It is a 14th century building and you can explore it from the inside as well. It has some nicely done authentic interiours. And just around a corner from it there is a restaurant called Salve if you want to get some traditional food. Its also in a historic building and the address is Ratslaukums 5.

@@horseplop9 yes of course. It sounds that right now he is rushing through the countries and doesnt have more time to explore. If he had more time I would also suggest visiting Kaunas, Ventspils, Cesis and Tartu.

@Baltictravellerblog
@Baltictravellerblog 5 лет назад
I agree with you! Taxify is a very convenient and cheap for trips in Baltic capitals. And new users of Taxify can get a welcome bonus from the existing users. For instance, in Latvia new users of Taxify get 10 EUR welcome bonus, which is practically a free ride from the airport to the city centre. In other countries bonus amount is different. Just as example - read more info in my Taxify invite link goo.gl/JxJAtp

Perhaps the greatest attacking chess player of them all was grandmaster Mikhail Tal...he was called 'the magician from Riga'. Some of his games are works of art...he had the reputation of offering unprotected pieces that if taken would lead his opponent into a world of hurt.
