Our mistake was not prepaying for our baggage before arriving at the airport, therefore having to pay massive fees instead of the only slightly unreasonable ones that AirAsia has. 😅😂 Other than that, we had a pleasant time! ☺️ We can’t wait to share more of our Bali adventure! 5:27, It translates your welcome in Indonesian. Also, Malay and Indonesian have the same words and meaning, termina kasih and sama sama, translates, thank you and your welcome. Note, some words in Indonesian is different to Malay, so be aware.

If I may say as representative of our Kampung, we all here welcome y'all who wants to visit our Kampung in the suburbs also our culinary such as Rawon, Soto Madura, Soto Lamongan, Rujak Cingur, Nasi Pecel, and other traditional food or even The Warteg which provide the touchscreen service around the suburbs of Surabaya City. Beside that maybe one of the suburbs in Surabaya, you can go Kampung Sumberejo Makmur Gang 9, Kelurahan Sumberejo, Kecamatan Pakal, Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. We have 'Green House' and integrated farming which are Fisheries and Livestock. We want to have a friendly environment that can be a wonderful place to live in and for our kiddos to grow up with the nature around us. Eventhough we live at suburbs but we still want to live less pollution which is cooperating with the local government and communities. We are still on progress on what we dream of. Especially if some foreigners come to visit us here. Hopefully you all here can visit us. Suwon, Ning dan Cak. Terima kasih. I stay in Semarang,Central Java, for two months at a time. It’s a short trip to just about anywhere and the people are great, going to build here, it’s my preference to Australia and personally I would rather give my money to the Indonesian economy than get ripped off in Australia.

We made a terrible mistake of flying into Bali on Christmas Eve...and it took us 4 HOURS to get through customs! Not including finding our bags and declaration 😭 our poor driver waited the whole time. So glad you guys didn't have to go through that!! Ubud is awesome. Excited to see your adventures in Bali! ♥

The Balinese are lovely people. I've been 21 times and am very close to a Balinese family. Ubud gets very busy. My husband and I have just returned home from Bali after 26 days. Enjoy your time in The Island of the Gods.

Small reminder, NEVER buy a sim card at the airport, kinda rookie mistake. I might sound like a douch, but im glad they getting more strikt with carry on. Ppl having 2 bags taking all the space, so your actual carry on has to be placed with the Check-in luggage is frustrating

😂 Oh, I know. I (Mike) would NEVER buy an airport sim… but Ashley couldn’t bear an hour ride without distraction. 😂😂 I usually just only use WiFi and never get a sim anyway. But you’re right, they are always a better deal in town. As far as the bags, we always have one carry one or personal and check our larger bags… in this instance, we just forgot to pay for our checked bags ahead of time so the fees were CRAZY EXPENSIVE! We couldn’t even try to pretend that our main bags were carry on. Way too big.

The minute you mentioned having to pay huge luggage fees i knew you where on Air Asia. They are hard core and will always squeeze you for the extra money if its so much as a gram overweight. Looking forward to this series.

Thanks so much! ☺️ Yeeeaaaa, we’ve learned that AirAsia seems like the least expensive airline, but we’ve typically learned that other airlines are more expensive than the base, but include baggage so they come out cheaper. Our mistake was we forgot to book the baggage fees online, so it’s way more expensive when you’re at the desk. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♀️

Bali Gov ( Oktober 2023) now just adding more tax on something else for the coming on airport. Its 100 USD. The purpose is to use that money to keep the Bali culture etc etc....i hope they really do that not corrupt it.

Yeah, we'll have to wait and see I suppose. It is a shame to see how much land is being torn down for construction projects. Finding balance is definitely a challenge everywhere in the world it seems.

We feel like the 55 is big enough, and we probably overpacked lol. There have been a few occasions where we wish at least one of us had the larger one. But overall, for a year of traveling, the 55L have pulled their weight. ☺️ Where are you guys headed if you don’t mind us asking?

For me Labuan Bajo is better for beach. Stunning view. Also Manado (most people are Christian there so you can find pork cuisine as well). Bali is already too crowded. Unless you looking for a beach club.

Yea, Bali is VERY crowded… we were able to find some peaceful beautiful spots though. We would return to Bali, but only to a few areas. Not the main tourist areas like Canggu and Ubud.

Yes! We did. It's delicious! If I'm being honest, I think Nasi Goreng in Indonesia is our preference, as they don't season it as much in Indoneisa. It's a lot more like thai style fried rice. In Malaysia, it reminded us more of Biriyani with a lot of seasoning.

Yay! We hope you have a wonderful time. ☺️ We edit the videos using Final Cut Pro X for Mac. You have to import each clip and trim and place them manually. Unfortunately, there isn’t an app (that we’re aware of at least!) that will expedite the process and produce the results we want for our videos. Maybe one day! Thank you so much! We were surprised to find that a lot of pork is consumed in Bali. Babi guling is a regional specialty, and it is delicious! We are missing Vietnamese food, though, and we can't wait to return in December. 😊

What questions did they ask you at immigration?

Nothing really, we just showed them our visa paperwork (we applied for the 60 day e-visa online) and they stamped our passports. It was really quick. I’m guessing most of the information is done in the visa process. We did have to register our phone serial numbers, but apparently now you don’t have to do that unless you’ll be in the country for 90 days… so we didn’t include it in the video.

100%. I believe you can do both a 30 and 60, but we did the 60 as we knew we’d be there for at least two months.

Good morning from SoCal, Bali, Indonesia! Yey! I’ve heard about it but never got a chance to visit though. So did you two fly to Indonesia directly from Vietnam? The baggage fee that you two mentioned, was that the Nội Bài AirPort in Hà Nội or Tân Sơn Nhất Aiport in Hồ Chí Minh City? Was it the airline that imposed that fee or … the Vietnam custom? I’m sorry of what you two had to go through. Either case, it’s barbaric! They only did that to squeeze money from your pocket. Don’t let that annoyed incident, your word Mike, ruin the rest of your trip. The whole world and beautiful days are waiting for you. Enjoy the most out of it and be grateful that you two have the chance and the means to travel around the world not only for yourselves but for those that can’t. It’s great to follow your footsteps vicariously, a lot less sweaty, Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the world through your videos. We had some work to get done and a few friends to meet, so after leaving Hanoi, we took a few weeks to just take a break and chill. We didn’t film anything, so we figured we’d try and keep the story contiguous as best as possible. Sorry for the confusion! The fees we paid were from AirAsia.
