Travelling Solo | Van Life In Scotland 

“Our world” has changed mate. Covid’s got thousands of newbies into "wild campervanning" and there were places completely over-run with vans this year. Even those like us, who've been living in vans without a trace since the early ‘80s, get the blame for the litter, broken glass and human shit some of the new lot leave behind. The rules on wild camping in vehicles will get tightened up this year and soon it’ll be like “park on an official campsite or on an Aire Site or get fined”.

I agree I do alot of pike fishing and stay in the van for a few days at a time and it will only be a matter of time before it happens in Scotland even the most remote lochs and rivers were mobbed this year but it's good to see people making the most of our beautiful country I just wish they had the same mindset as us, I am forever picking up rubbish and crap left behind by folk with no respect

Wild camping in vehicles in Scotland is not actually permitted by the legislation, but because vanners never used to cause the problems we're seeing now, it was just never enforced. Trouble is you can't go telling these fuckers to clear up all their rubbish and broken glass before they drive away. That would not end well when there's like a dozen of them and you're on yer own so yes, its just a matter of time now.

@@petetimbrell3527 For the last 5 years ive been to Scotland, its just a constant flow of traffic at 30mph from Callander to fort William. 2020 was different because of the virus, its the first time in a long time I was driving on open roads!

Go to an auction and buy an ex council or post office van etc as these have been well serviced and maintained.

Some parts of life do not require a form.

Can be as cheap or expensive as you want, my advice is buy a van from an auction ie ex council,post office etc, they have been well serviced and maintained and will be good for many years travelling.
