Thank you so much for showing everything in how to change the oil. Most videos are not this thorough. This was exactly what I needed to do the job. This was perfect ❤

That mobile one oil is no good for my 2018 traverse. I swapped them out to amsoil motor oil, and that rattle noise went away at every start-up. Starts up much quieter and smoother after I notice how cooked those mobile one motor oil was when I change them out and inspect the oil quality. They just look cooked and very watery which brings me to think that theres litterally no lubricity left in them to keep the engine well lubricated. Engines do get hot especially after you park them as theres no lubricity flowing when the engines are off. The quicker your engine cools down the better they are at not wearing engine components prematurely.

The only tool i need for my 2018 traverse lT is a wrench. I rarely need to overtighten the oil filter when intalling a new one. Just a gentle snug tight is enough. Makes it easier to loosen it on the next oil change. Ive seen a lot of video where people just love to mandhandle and overtighten the oil filter so much so that when they do the next oil change. They get all anal as to why it is so hard to loosen the oil filter and that they had to use a special tool to loosen the filter.

for parking brakes, my chevy traverse 2018 lt shows a red "P" symbol instead of whole "PARK" words in the instrument cluster.

i have 2018 chevy traverse LT 3.6V6 here in Canada already done 160k km, chevy says in manual to change oil every 12k km/7500miles, dealership recommend changing oil at 8000km/5000 miles. i have been doing oil changes at 10k km/6200 miles. i bought it new and will keep it as long as it will last, now dealership suggesting as mileage going up, do oil changes earlier to make engine last longer. what should it do? start changing oil at 8000km/5000miles?

It depends on the oil you use too. I personally use mobile one extended oil which is technically guaranteed up to 20,000 but I change at 10,000. Again that's just me

I never go by manufacturer recommendation. I just go by how often I drive my vehicle and I always check the oil every 2 to 3 weeks to see the condition of the oil and the oil level. Cheap oils these days are not that great as they do get cooked a lot and cooked oil are never good for an engine because it'll just be like stale water with no lubricitg left in them. So if the manufacturer says every 5000 mile I go half of that and if it says every 10,000 miles I change at 7,500 miles. You know what they say o 22:11 il is cheap, but NOT your engine. Well, so is the oil quality. Cheap oil quality usually means very low quality oil with very little additives in them and when they're cooked all the time after every operation. They loose the lubricity that the engine needs in order to keep the metal from shaving down to the point where engine failure can occur catastrophic prematurely even on a very low milieage vehicles.

@@TheJoker-jv3outhat 20,000 mile guarantee is all marketing BS. That's only if you rarely drive the vehicle and it's just sitting there half the year. The more you drive the faster those oil wear out and started to loose its lubricity and if you keep driving them long enough. Engine failure and broken parts will occur prematurely. Best to just do your part and check them oil level and the quality of the oil on a bi-weekly or monthly basis and change them out.

Why not drain the oil through the oil plug first, then as a second step remove the oil filter?
@Bobsgaragetech
@Bobsgaragetech 10 месяцев назад
Honestly it doesn’t make a difference either way. It does not change anything or help it drain better or worse. Just the way I did it at this time.

Have you done your transmission fluid ?
@mrvang8077
@mrvang8077 3 месяца назад
I've done my transmission fluid change on my 2018 Traverse at 87,000 miles on it. It's quite simple and easy. Same as doing an oil change. Transmission fluid takes 10 quartz. 5 quartz drained out and the first 5 quartz back in then drive for 300 miles and do the second drain. 5 quartz out and the last 5 quartz in. Don't forget to run the engine and shift through all the gears a couple times between each drain and fill while the engine is running.

I don’t have a jack. Would it be that much harder to do it laying on the floor?
@Bobsgaragetech
@Bobsgaragetech 7 месяцев назад
A jack makes it a lot more accessible. But it is possible with a low enough catch pan to do it on the ground! 🤙🏼

Looking to buy a traverse, highlander or a pilot. They are all terrible pail changes. Any problems with the traverse?

I have had zero problems with mine besides the common shifter issue on these but it's an easy fix.

I just bought a 2017 traverse about 90 days ago, and the oil filter change worries me. Coming horizontal out the front , with not much room. I worry about not being able to clean the old oil from below the filter. Helpful video though. Good job.

Why tighten the filter so much?
@Bobsgaragetech
@Bobsgaragetech Год назад
From my experience a tight filter does not leak. Every oil filter I have found leaking was loose. Thank you for watching!
@mrvang8077
@mrvang8077 3 месяца назад
You know why you had to use a tool to loosen the oil filter every time? It's because you overtighten too much when it is very unnecessary. In all of my oil change I do on my vehicle I never had to use a tool to loosen the oil filter and no leaks whatsoever.

A set of car ramps would give you better access instead of the jack and stand
@mrvang8077
@mrvang8077 3 месяца назад
Yep! A good quality set of plastic ramp will make your life easier if you don't have 2 jack stand, 2 rubber tire wedges for the back tire and a hydraulic jack to jack up the vehicle. I got tired of dragging the hydraulic jack that weighs a ton back and forth so I went and bought me 1 set of heavy duty plastic ramp for working under the car. It's a life saver and easier to put them away after every use. Auto parts sells them. Get the heavy duty type if you want the long term durability usage out of them.
