I do agree with a lot of your points. Utopia has a pretty decent pool of replay-able songs to come back to (mainly on the front half of the album), it has a massive amount of streams, which for a Travis Scott album that shouldn’t even come as a surprise, and that Utopia as an album is sonically beautiful in it’s production. but again I say this: the award MICHAEL won over Utopia was “best rap album of the year”, not “best album production of the year” and not “most popular rap album of the year”. it was “best rap album”. who out of the two (Travis and Killer Mike) is the better rapper, better lyricist, better MC? let’s be honest; Killer Mike is levels above Travis Scott in rapping ability, and not only that, but Killer Mike’s features on MICHAEL were from extremely talented rappers, lyricists, and MCs (Andre 3000, 6LACK, Curren$y, Blxst, and Mozzy). (I encourage you to check out those features!) the rapping ability on MICHAEL was far from better then that of the rapping ability on Utopia, so it should almost not be a surprise to any logical thinker to understand why MICHAEL and Killer Mike won “best rap album” of this year and not Utopia. Utopia would have had a better chance of winning “album of the year”, then in that case you can somewhat argue that the “3 billion streams” has some relevancy in this discussion. other then that, MICHAEL cleaned the floor with Utopia in terms of rap, WHICH WAS THE NOMINATION! so don’t be acting like the Grammy’s don’t like rap, because they do, they do like rap. it’s just you fans who don’t like anybody but your favourite artist winning
Tf you mean lets me honest here u might be the only one who think Killer Mike is “levels above” Travis Scott you Grammy Stan fuck. Your opinion as well as the anonymous group of people who voted for best rap album of the year matter for sure! against the 3 billion ppl who streamed utopia? I DO think Travis Scott is the better rapper than killer Mike and I’m willing to bet that a lot more people will stand with me on that. You argue that the best rap album was an objective contest rather than a popularity contest is just wrong. The main reason why all these top rappers are popular because they are objectively better than rappers below them such as killer Mike. Hell I don’t think anyone heard of him before he got nominated for a granny. To say that Travis Scott fans only cares if Travis won or not is just ignorance I would be fine if someone of similar merit such as drake won the award instead.
Wtf happens to my earlier comment 😂also you clearly haven’t listened to the second part of Your eyes if you think killer Mike “sweeps the floor” against Travis in terms of rapping ability
@@KingBenny ty dolla sign is the guy for a feature on one track and then disappear for the next 2 months and do another feature, not the typa dude to drop an album. i love him, but he's not that guy.
Travis wasn't robbed people are forgetting that nas was also nominated and in 2018 Mack miller's swimming and pusha t's Daytona were also nominated Travis had no chance of winning
@@Kj12349 as a huge of Travis Scott am not like you skinny white boys who have this parasocial relationship with your favorite rappers am not a fan of killer and nas but I still support their music . The problem with fans like you is love isn't going to the music it's going straight to the artist Travis can drop a bad album and you would still say it's aoty
Trav is now working on the album of the century if he loses then they will say more than “name 10 KM songs, they will say “name 10 swift songs that are more than mediocre”
"Do the grammys hate travis scott? I mean probably" 😂 Grammys just dont know what rap is. They do whatever is popular in every other category and the rap cstegory is no different. Its unfortunate.
Trust Travis ain't nun special. Biggie, Pac, Snoop, MF Doom, Wu Tang Clan and many legends before him never won a grammy. It took decades for a rapper like Nas to win a grammy, so it might also take some time for Travis to win some. He got robbed a few times, yea, but was he robbed this year? No, not at all. The Grammy's ain't that much of a big deal, but if he makes music to win grammys boy oh boy, he might end up depressed.
