hope you guys enjoy this one even with the more stripped down editing compared to my usual reactions! was just feeling a bit burnt out today and a lot of the discussion around this album online seems to get a bit toxic so i just wanna get it out there hahaha, had a lot of fun recording the reaction though
This albums okay but it would’ve been better if DJ Khaled was on it as usual. I miss his 5 minute skits in the beginning of every track on astroworld where he describes quantum physics.
I'm absolutely blown away by this album. Worth the wait and then some. Telekinesis might be the greatest thing my ears have heard in recent memory. SZA absolutely destroys her verse it damn near made me cry.
Telekinesis was originally Heaven and Hell off of Donda and that version was so much better with the choirs and Ye's verse😕 did like SZA's feature though!
This album sounds better every time I listen to it. Every song brings something unique, and I think this will go down as another masterpiece by Travis Scott.
I was taken aback on on my first listen, but the second had me realizing that this sounds like a fully-realized Owl Pharaoh. Im growing to love this thing more and more by the hour
I enjoyed the album a lot probably cause I’m more of a Kanye fan than Travis but you can definitely tell Ye had his hands all over this project. The features were killer and production was 🔥… and I was never a Travis Scott fan but I listened to the whole album.
Fun fact: Two of the tracks on the album were at one point Ye's. God's Country was initially supposed to be on Ye's album of the same name before being reshaped to Donda: With Child (and later to Donda) and it featured a Ye verse. The production remained mostly untouched. Telekinesis was initially called Future Sounds (some variants were also called Future Bounce or Ultrasounds), featuring a significantly different production (including the same trumpet sample as Blood On The Leaves) and a Victory Boyd hook ("Do you like the way, like the way it sounds?" repeated over and over again).
this album is fucikn vibe, i feel kinda similar when donda drop, i like the way songs are minimalistic but full of sound at the same time, i can just feel this music and not being tired of it
I still think astroworld and rodeo are better albums BUT this album has grown on me mad hard. The first half of the album was literal perfection but the 2nd half did fall off a bit for me although towards the end it did pick up a bit. Production on this album is defo the highlight for me, did like hearing Travis rap more but I still prefer his more melodic sounds. The features were fun to guess like always with Travis’ albums. I would give this album a solid 7.5/10 as of right now.
I think Guy-Manuel having co-produced Modern Jam makes a lot of sense, as the drums remind me a lot of the song Starboy, which began as a beat that Guy-Manuel made on his phone that The Weeknd fell in love with
I would say the album was a 7/10 , Production of the year definitely . However , the only song I truly fw is I Know , I felt like each song had its moments but felt kind of all over place and not really connecting.
"Echoes" litetally sounds like something Drake wanted to do on "Honestly, Nevermind." Im surprised CDTV didn't get PTSD from that livestream he did having to listen to that album. 😂
Bro why were you up so early 😭 I missed the whole stream but this album is Jesus! This was amazing and was also set in an egyptian asthetic (from what i read about this project) in a way for me it's an easy 8/10 for me! 💯
Honestly I'm not crazy about it. To me it's like a mix between Owl Pharoah, DBR, and Yeezus. It's alright. I enjoy some of the tracks, but don't love it. I'm not mad about the shift in artistic direction it's just not my cup of tea. Would have rather had something along the lines of Rodeo where it had that "grand" sound like you hear on Oh My Dis Side or Impossible. I think there's so much more to be done with that sound.
I highly recommend bringing back the Fastest Verses series There’s so many new rappers & fire ass fast rap verses I’d love to see videos on people like Lex Bratcher King ISO Dizzy Wright Hopsin? Or other videos of certain aspects that cover artist like BLP Kosher, Sexyy Redd, NandoSTL, Dizzy Wright, Vi Seconds, Jelly Roll, Daylyt, BJThaQuwen, SnowThaProduct!!! Chris Webby Montana of 300 Joyner Lucas KAAN Ez Mil
Personally wasn't super impressed with this album ngl. Its solid overall and there are a few highlights I'll definitely come back to like Hyaena, Sirens, and Looove, but it doesnt come close to Trav's best and I personally think its the worst album overall I've heard from him. Thats just me though lol
To me, almost very song on this album felt like either -Too repetitive -Too lackluster in subject matter -Carried by the feature -Sounds too much like something else which I'd rather listen to The only exception would be I KNOW ?, because, although Travis sounds like Drake on it, I'd rather listen to it than Drake. This felt like so many interesting ideas done by someone without the charisma to pull it out personally.
I think alot of people are overlooking that travis' first big credit was producing songs on yeezus. But before the album people kwpt saying thwy wanted old travis style he just went back to owl pharaoh
Album is great but half the songs sound like a Travis Scott Makes Kanye Songs album, compared to his previous albums that sound more like his own sound
New rendition of Travis Scott while still preserving the dark vibe, perfect album (except some isntrumentals/vocal choices sounding way too Kanye-esque).
Heard this off lSD with my girl last night for the first time and it was a truly magical and phenomenal experience. 10/10 to me. Only song that sucks is modern jam. That shit was ass lmao
I feel like the intro song is the only one imma really be coming back to. Every song is alright but most either sound bad or just generic. The production is amazing but the features and travis dont really do the beats as well as they could.
Mid album. Post Malones 'Austin' was way more unique and different. Something new. Utopia is basic, repetitive trap/synth Kanye beats. Good production/mixing/mastering. That's about it.
I think it will grow on you more. The only thing repetitive is FE!N because it’s meant for Carti. I am praising for being different from anything else he’s done. I would have been a little bummed if it was another psychedelic album (astroworld 2).
The production carries the entire album. The structure of the hooks/verses, words used, & flow ain’t gon last sadly. He had 5 years to evolve his flow. This sounds like he laid rusty verses in 2020/21 after a 3 year break and spent the past 2 years on production. Travis has done this better just this time with a different beat aesthetic and worse rapping. Shi ain’t memorable or catchy at all. Yeezus & WLR was. I wanted this album to be better. Bro really rhyming tweaking and geeking unironically. It already sounds dated.
