Everybody is talking about "Rich Men North of Richmond" but this was the first song that people should have gotten around for the poor and working class
Yeah it’s a great video. I used to sing this loud as a kid and it annoyed my mother. Actually she annoys me more especially when she bitches about money.
8 years logging 20 in a sawmill also bounty hunting and bouncer broken back , 5 surgerys on my right hand , 4 on the left and knees hurt every morning yet I'm as broke as the day I walked in , I love this song .
My favorite Travis T song, wait...Great Day to be Alive is, no, it's Trouble...aw hell it's too hard to pick a fav song by him, they're all great songs thanx TT
It's kind of ironic that Travis Tritt is a conservative republican that has campaigned for republicans over the years but this video was a direct shot at the 1980s and Reagan policies.
Democrats : party of rich yuppies, govt. workers, and the free shit welfare army .... Repubs better of two evils for anyone willing to do real work....that's why
That's because Travis is a rich guy who makes songs for poor people to listen to. Maybe it was different back then but now he's got a mansion and all that.
I worked at the video post-production house where they made this video in Nashville. It was called PostMasters. I hadn't seen it in probably as many years. But I'd walk by the suite and stick my head in when they were working on it.
The Lord has Mercy in real life on this wise: 1 to be born of the water and the spirit 2 to keep the Ten Commandments 3 and to keep the brand new commandment 4 and to keep spotted from the world 5 You Must Believe in the Great God Almighty 6 You Must Believe in the Son of God- he that believeth in the Son has the Father
Thank you always and forever to John Erwin (He-Man) and Alan Oppenheimer (Skeletor) respectively...You fellers have cemented your legacy in animation history.
I've never have a lot of money. Andi could careless about that. I've came to see having love is more important. Also,if I put God first in my life. Then,he'll help me with all I need. Notice I didn't say, what I want. All else God will add unto me. God Bless ya'all. That's my belief on this video. I like Travis Tritt, but these songs have messages. And,I try to pay attention to those words.
I would like to think I am doing very well! I work for Hannaford Supermarkets in Massachusetts, I work hard, have a 401K, own two Tag Heuer watches, one citizen watch, a pair of Nikon cameras, and a few video cameras, as well as taking trips to Disney World in first class, I work very hard for my money no matter what, I am living the life I was taught and do not regret anything. I work on the side as a freelance writer, and hope to really do well and would move back to Georgia when I sell the film rights to my books, the city I live in is sad, it's a ghost town, the downtown is simply deserted, it is awful.
I think Waylon done this once not sure though I like the song anyhow if you’ve never lived hand to mouth each & every week you truly don’t understand the song
Grow up somewhat hand to mouth/ working class poor and you learn to appreciate working middle class living. As I told my kids we are not rich but we are solidly middle class , you received what was needed and some of what you wanted. I did my best
Well, Travis Tritt did dare to make political commentary by showing how much he now supports the "Rich Man" in this video that he literally portrays as Trump.
If the video is edited by a RU-vidr if acknowledges the copyright fair use, they should add Bernie Madoff, Enron, Anthony Fauci, Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Jeffrey Epstein, Joel Osteen, John Hagee and others to the edited video with the song
Ahh, this video was perfect up until the plug for the govt shell game at the very end. Hope he's heard of Larken Rose by this point, now there's a man whose done more to advance the cause of liberty than a billion votes ever could
Somewhere along the way Travis must have had a drastic swing in his political views. Nowadays he's a very vocal conservative Republican. This is obviously a very liberal-oriented song, not just the song lyrics but the video showing all the Republican politicians and him swatting away all the military planes as a criticism of large defense spending. I remember well when this song came out, and its historical context is revealing. It came out, certainly intentionally, during the 1992 presidential campaign. We were in a bad recession, which is why Bush Sr. lost to Clinton. At the time, when someone saw the "VOTE" message after watching that video, it would have been very clear that Travis was telling people to vote for Clinton.
thanks for the historical and cultural background explaining of the music video. I did not know as I was not alive at the time of Bill Cilnton's presidency or Bush Sr's. But you sharing the historical aspect of this song made it even MORE awesome! Thanks a lot. : )
Soooo. All the people on here that throw stones and blah blah blah... Answer the question. Travis asked a question. Why is the rich man busy “dancing” while the poor man pays the “band”? Answer. Straight up. Cause they...?
Dusty Ridgley perfect. Thank you. And it’s perfectly executed. And the “swamp” includes the current admin. Going alllll the way back to colonial times. The GREAT poet ( 😂) Bon Jovi had it right! “It’s all the same. Only the names have changed...”
Maybe. However the message is loud and clear at the end. The Statue of Liberty, The American Flag, and The Constitution. That's what it's all about. It's We The People. We've lost site of that!
Nixon was in there also and hes a Dem. Like I told the other guy, lets not go there. He showed both sides. None of those bastards can give a damn about us common folk.
Democrats are the party of rich yuppies, welfare leaches and illegal immigrants- he is singing about working men that neither party no longer represents.
Awesome that Tritt was political and a country singer who took shots at the Republican party. Not to mention he shows that Orange goon Trump a few times in this video. Good job Travis!!!
@@crazychris4638, uh you forgot a comma there dumbass, pretending like all Trump supporters are stupid when you spread hate, show questionable grammar skills, and are intolerant as heck.
Sadly he removed the official video from his YT because he now supports the Rich Man who is in this video 5x. Heartbreaking that TT went hypocrite. Can we get Stapleton or Childers to remake it?
It's only because the commoners do not understand nuance. DJT wants everyone to have the opportunity for merit based success and wealth. He did not earn his money as a lifetime politician, and neither did his father.
