I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I have all different brands, Arrma, Traxxas, Losi, Dhk and the Arrma Fanboys are like Mustang guys, they are the WORST!!!! Lmao
Nathan Wood “KrAtOn iS bEtTeR tHaN ErEvO” yeah after you buy a $200 chassis lol I don’t think arrma is as reliable as some people make it out to be. Got a senton, it’s fun tho
@@hughroperbeatyou8910 Arrma is nowhere near as reliable as people make them out to be. My Kraton breaks more than my girlfriends Erevo 2.0. I broke the Kraton the first 10 minutes I ever ran it lol. pretty flat landing and the front shock mount at the A-Arm broke and bent the shock shaft. then it was a chassis...shock mounts are bent...all sorts of bent or broken things on it since I got it. only thing that seems to break on the E-revo was the toelinks and shock caps. which the upgraded parts solved. now she just burns through gears. (on the throttle while landing...shes got a bad habbit of that)
Dude literally every time I take out my xmaxx it breaks a spur gear but my talion I have sent over a 64 foot motocross jump many times and all it’s done is worn out a wheel bearing
I have too say you made/make excellent and unbiased opinion s about every car you review but it clearly shows in the midst of the controversy surrounding the MAXX. I also bought the first delivery model before any real hands on review s were out there and i would say you are spot on with all you say. I'm not a fanboy of any vehicle I love Traxxas ,aarma, losi and I like some others. Your brave for standing up for this car in particular considering all the hate it has been getting. Great unbiased real world points here. Keep em coming!
How are those plastic driveshafts holding up ..the ones on my stampede broke after just two hours but im aware these are the upgraded ones cheers mark in uk,ps im thinking about buying one of these and this is the big decider for me
I don’t see why there’s so much hate on this truck, I love mine, I’m gonna put heavier shock oil in, plenty of power, I can’t complain, of all my cars the arrma is the only one not running (bent chassis), I’m a fan of plastic chassis. I’m glad Traxxas used the plastic spur, their metal spurs suck, I grabbed an extra 50 tooth plastic spur just in case, still running strong. It’s a hobby, buy whatever brand you want. -Cheers brother
That’s it buy wot u want and don’t just follow the crowd it’s ure money ure spending its wot makes u happy at the end of the day . Makes me laugh wen people diss the electric cars I have a peterol. 30.5 cc king motor but I am thinking about getting a electric car just can’t make my mind up witch one to get there’s so much to choose from wot ever I get I want a 1/10 scale some thing that goes about 70 mph with metal spur gear and wot will run up to about 6s upward want something fast and can take a good beating
Good stuff Rich. I will say though, I do, AND don't understand the need for a steel spur gear, or why it is a complaint. There really should be a weak point in the drivetrain. Eliminating a weaknesses is a double edged sword, something else will always break. I still have not been able to actually take one out and completely abuse it, but you know me, I'm not one to be abusive with my stuff. I'd prefer to enjoy the drive. If it breaks, I get to enjoy some wrench time on it. I personally get a huge amount of enjoyment when I find out I have worn out parts on a car, my 4Tec 2.0 needed new arms, diff outdrives, and shock eyelets... ALL worn out, never broken. Car drives like a dream.
becuase the motor gets HOT..it'll transfer the heat to the pinon. R/C toys dont have disc brakes. the pinon jams the living shiet out of the spur the stop the truck. The faster it goes the higher it's going to fly and land....the harder it's going to Jam the spur...that's why. Im not a perfect driver, My finger is made out of led too :-P I personally hate sound of metal rubbing against metal..but it is what it is. Some of my 1/8 monter has plastic spur..it's nice and quite. Donst sound like the damn thing is grinding itself apart...but Im checking motor temp. Yes, it's an endless cycle of shuffling the weakest point. I used rebuild the differentals in my Tmaxx in my SLEEP.,,becuase I became a PRO and efficient at it :-P . They're made of metal....nothing is new under the sun.... The Pins will enlarge plastic holes to the plastic faster..the more you torque the hell out of it. There after market replacement metal drive lines...you just have to get workable length..and brake the piggy bank, again...Sort of like being in love with my baby's mama. She's super duper hot, like no other..but she aint cheap ....95% of the time she'll empty the piggy bank before i can break it :-(...but Im her #1 fanboy :-P
@@oneeyemonster3262 Oh I understand all of this. I shouldmhave also commented that I don't usually go with high power motors/ESCs in my stuff. I tend to stick close to what's in it, and tune the tar out of it for better handling characteristics. It's one of those things where everyone has their favorite part of the hobby. You win the comments section with that last part by the way! Made me lol.
@@TinyTiresRC well...she's sort of top heavy from the double D upgrades...it is what it is. i like to have hands on experience in all my investments. They're holding up fine. i cant complain.
Super, thank you Ritchi! Super detailed Informations as always! May be you want to add that the fan from the ESC does not like hard landings (like at a Skatepark) and the blades have a tendency to break off.
Thanks for the tips, I love the Maxx it is really tough, I did install the widemaxx kit, so handling should be even better, I've bashed mine pretty good and the drive shafts had no issues so far, but now the shafts are new again so hope they are as tough as original...

Great info Ritch. Im hoping to get one of these or the 6s typhoon. Cant decide! But its good to see a real world review. It is a monster truck after all, not a truggy, so id excpect it to handle as such.
I’ve the typhon and it handles like a dream. Glad people are noticing this is an MT not a truggy/ buggy. Let the games begin! Typhon v4 much improved on v3
I was highlighting this 4s car did whereas some other 4s ones out there have plastic, but you can't criticise those cars without being criticised! hope that makes sense!
All good points; I'm glad you're keeping it real instead of just bashing it. Their engineers know what they're doing, even if they don't always make the decisions based solely on engineering principles. (got to keep the lights on!)
For real, some testers have digital fingers. All they know is full throttle and full braking. Then they complain about the car fall over. Ur Video got the Point. For me its much much more fun, when the driver need the skill. This car is overpowered and u should just drive it like that. No Widemaxx Kit on mine, i love it!.
thanks for your pointers! Just got mine today, with the link card as you suggested. Also of note: the start up guide is missing a VERY important step - calibrating the throttle. if it was not set up properly at the factory as mine was not, the Maxx will jump right out of your hands or take off into the sunset - and you can't stop it. Traxxas has some really good "how to" videos showing how to do this in 30 seconds, but it is buried in the Maxx manual. I was not impressed with the apps you have to download, so put that off for another day, and used the buttons on the controller to set up. I've heard suggestions that you need to back off/adjust the brakes as they will cause you to tumble if you do 100%.
I just bought the green maxx and I currently only own one 4s and like the last one you showed mine is simply too tall. 6000mah zeehee brand 4s.. so what is the maximum height in which you can have and still use stock battery holder? Great videos btw and thanks for any help or advise u can give me..so is the 46t spur and 26t pinion a good all around gearing combo? Thx again
I’m surprised you like the lectron lipos so much. I bought two, and after 3-4 runs they both lost at least 30% of their power and 50% of the run time. Had much better luck with traxxas and venom lipos.
So basically keep everything stock until it break then upgrade. Also I do not think any of the 10 things you listed is negative about this truck for me. I am going to pick one up this weekend.
Thanks I just ordered one today. try to stay away from too many negative videos because everyone drives there cars differently and will have different Problems. This was a perfect video to get me Hyped for my Maxx. Thanks
Rich i bought my traxxas maxx i use the traxxas batteries and the 3s 5000mah dont really fit well i use that foam block cut in half to hold it down im going to get a differnt holddown
I drive an 18wheeler so the light kit wouldn't work for me because of the trk stops got mine last Thursday it's definitely a tough truck and all the gripe about batteries I just use the traxxas batteries
I have the maxx he is absolutely right about everything aside from once the body starts getting a little beat up then it starts popping off but still way less easily than an xmaxx
I went to the Hobby Shop yesterday to buy a $300 Arrma granite(Christmas Present to Me), and walked out with a $500 MAXX! You calmed any buyers remorse with your honest take! I bought(Santa) my young boys(2), Rustlers around 10 years ago for an awesome Christmas presents. I guess that makes me a Traxxas Fanboy now! LOL
I saw somewhere that changing the rear diff to a heavier oil (500 I think he said) helps with it skipping on one back wheel when in a wheelie. Cant remember who it was though. might be worth a go
Yes! I agree! Lights should come on it at the price point they want! She's nice but I'll stick with Armma ! Awesome points made on the maxx though! Keep up the great work brother! Love your videos!👍👍😎👽
So, when you insert the lipo batteries. Are the 1st 3 batteries 3S batteries? As I see and others have complained about the damn battery compartment cannot handle the 4S lipo reaction is what I have and there comes the modding of the battery compartment. This is the thing that detours me from buying this truck. More Traxxas Trickery to get you to buy their products only. This is why people are either drilling holes or finding other ways to install straps so they can enjoy this truck. How freaking annoying as hell is this?
I run a power hobby 5200mah 4S pack with a traxxas connector and it fits with zero issues at all. And it's 100C one as well..... I've not bought reaction packs since one $120 4S lipo in my losi db xle failed after 12 1/2 months, only to find it had a 12 month warranty... Power hobby or gensace all the way, but the maxx has room for huge packs and I've never seen the space as an issue.
Nice video. I am new to the rc world and recently picked up the new widemaxx. Wow is it fast. For speed runs on pavement do you think changing the tires to belted ones would help with stability? If so what tires would you use? Thanks again for the vid.
I just got one brand new today and it has no power. You literally have to hold it full throttle to get it to move. Once it moves it's slow. I'm running a brand new traxxas 4s 5000 battery. And tired a new traxxas 3s 5000 battery that I run in my rustler. Really pissed about this. No sure what's wrong with it. I have to call them tomorrow.
I have had the Maxx on my purchase radar for a year and now its time for purchase. Been doing my research for about 2 months and your video was exactly what i was looking for. Thank you very much!!! Dont know if youre still reading the comments as this is an older vid, but are the shock caps plastic?
sorry one last thing.... do you think the widemaxx kit is mandatory? I have a few Tmaxxes and only one of them is setup wide, and its really not that big of a difference if you know how to drive. cheers
Jayson just converting mine to widemaxx, new bearing (due to my error) needed for diff then I'll do a full review, but from what I've seen it's a mandatory upgrade. Full test next week as bearing arrives tomorrow
The issue about the baterry tray i think is about hardcases lipos. A lot of bashers only use hardpacks for more safety. The hardcases with high capasity have a hard time to fit inside the baterry tray of the maxx they could have simply used velcro or something same things goes for the e revo baterry trays. Buying specisl hardpacks with lower capacity might be a deal breaker for the maxx
That'd not worry me at all. The only lipo failure I've had in the past 18 months? An onyx 3S 50C pack, failed second time out. still waiting on horizon hobby replacement over a year later. Biggest failure is the supplier not the pack!!! I bash stuff fairly hard and the hardcase pack issue has never worried me. The second lipo failure prior to that? Onyx hardshell puffing up so hard it split the case. So I'll sit this one out. If you're landing that hard you're worrying about busting the lipo open then the damage to the car is going to be catastrophic, hope all that makes sense, I can see your point but it doesn't worry me. At the end of the day it's the same battery stuffed in a hard case, but if you land that hard you crack it open you've probably snapped that chassis in two! :-)
Hardcase lipos are mandatory on some race tracks, I don't think too many people are gonna run a monster truck on a track. The hard plastic will protect them from small scratches due to rocks or dust but nothing that a foam can't do
Thanks I have owned a few traxxas cars and I shot this a while back - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JwSUPnGQ78Q.html I may use my 4tec radio with it which has the module in
Jason on the powerhobby lipos with XT60's a Traxxas XT 60 (No wires) adapter just fits on the end - nice and easy and adds very little length to the lead, I'd tape them up though if you are doing 'big air' stuff
@@dadydaniels6160 Yeah I called up trax's your going to have to send in your ecm it's a bad one that's what mine was they replaced it in my work beautifully after that
Do you know that a Team Associated RC10 B74 Team is 520$? it's just 2S 10th scale, does it make it expensive for being "just" 2S? You have to take into account all specs before comparing...
@@logitechz3 I think that if you are looking at the Maxx it will be for bashing. And in that realm around 500$ is giving you allot of options. The Arrma Outcast for example which isen´t much bigger but it offers better ground clearance which can be nice when your goal is bashing. This is why i think size will matter a bit here simply because the larger car can bash where a smaller one won´t. A good racing buggy is expensive just as the Maxx but there is very different reasons to get them. The buggy will suck at bashing compared to the Maxx, and the buggy will make the Maxx look stupid on the track.
@@Wreenz I know that buggy is a racer and you can only run it on a track or a really smooth surface, it was just to show a cost/power comparison. Yeah, I'm considering an Outcast 6S too, which is as big as the Maxx but look at the tires 172mm on the Outcast and 91mm on the Max, that's almost twice the size! I think the Outcast 6S wins here just put another radio and go. What I wouldn't buy over the Maxx is the Arrma 4S line, Once you install the whole steering rack, servo and servo saver, sealed ball bearings, adjustable motor mount, radio... you have spent more than on the Maxx which is still better. I'm not a fanboy so they are 2 choices here Traxxas Maxx or Arrma Outcast 6S and the Maxx won't be available at my country till next month so I will wait and see what I get. Cheers
@@logitechz3 In the end of the day the right RC is the one that makes you smile. Agreed the 4S line of Arrma is weaker than the Maxx especially because Traxxas seems to have put really good electronics inside the Maxx. It's so hard to get an RC because so many good ones these days, but if I had 500 to put down on a basher now the outcast would be one I would love to try out. In monster trucks I've got a Cen reeper so my next RC will be something else getting that TRX-4 kit as I'm up to give crawling a go.
Well if you watched any of my others videos you'd probably not have said that...I also own 2 x arrma infractions (1 on 8s), 6S outcast, 6S talion, 8S Losi SRR & XL-E, 8S arrma typhon as well as TRX6 & 4tec vxl, and about 6 more cars that aren't traxxas.....I've NO time for this fanboy c**p! NONE! If a car looks good I'll say it does, or if I see a good car should I not say so? Who would that benefit? I don't care who makes them, I just like good RC cars.
@@DriftomaniacsRC yea i unsubbed you when i told you to lock tite your standoff on your talion cause you where talking sh t about arrma. And you acted like i was a idiot. So then on i could care less about your thoughts. Figured I'd see how hard you'd jock this overpriced maxx and i was 100 percent correct. So I'll wait till there next release to watch your vid and prove it once again.
RC Maxx Bash I no stupid wats the point I thought it was just about having a good time with wot u do not just slagging each other of as long as the car looks good and goes well it shouldn’t Mater wot the cars called and if u can afford to buy wot u want do that 😀
because they are only rated up to 25C? Lets put it this way if you had a Ferrari would you fill it with 93 octane (50C) or 49 octane (joke as you cant buy that at the pump).WHY Would you run an RC Car at half it's available power? Traxxas make fantstic rc cars but not great batteries
